The Roar of Robert Novak
2009-08-18 20:49:00
I'll never forget reading Robert Novak's columns and watching him on Crossfire. With his scathing commentary while trying to moderate, he gave the voice of reason and ridicule. It's no secret, that I have patterned my rants and interruptions after Novak. TV commentary and columns were sanitary before Novak brought his brand of spitfire banter on the far Right. Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, and Anne Coulter are lightweights when placed next to Novak. His menacing, piercing stare, and fluffy eyebrows gave you fair warning that your centrist or left-winged arguments were about to be exposed in broad daylight. The neo-conservatives on TV today are entertainers, stoking the flames on purpose, not on merit. Robert Novak added fuel to the fires of...

Robert Novak Retires, Condition ?Dire?
2008-08-04 22:07:00
After a career spanning 45 years, syndicated political columnist Robert “Bob” Novak has retired from the Chicago Sun Times after being diagnosed with a brain tumor. He describes his situation as “dire”. Novak stated, “The details are being worked out with the doctors this week, but the tentative plan is for radiation and chemotherapy.” The 77-year-old hit ...
Thoughts from Robert Novak

Bob Novak needs no introduction.  I?ve been a fan of his column since I became interested in politics, and though I?ve disagreed with some of his views every once in a while, I can certainly recognize his keen intellect and wisdom. A couple good points from the Washington columnist: Over 80% Americans believe the country is going ...
Terrytoons
2008-05-11 15:20:00
Hillary delusional pimp Terry McAullife: "If Big Russ was looking down at us having a scotch, he'd say nothing's impossible, and so would Jack McAuliffe." Tim Russert: "Big Russ is still sitting in the Barcalounger." Superficial manic Terry's crawl up Tim's ass backfired. He had no idea Tim's father was still on the planet.... "Was Buffalo out of it when they were down 39 points?" McAuliffe bombed on "Meet The Press" recycling the same tedious Hillary's The One spin. Is he on drugs? I'd bet cocaine. Democrats' Circle Jerk Interruptus
2008-03-06 20:08:00
It wasn't supposed to be like this. The Democratic party is at Defcon 3 working at cross-purposes. Gleeful Republicans are watching this political reality show where there's no clear winner. The NYDN serves up Tee Vee reality show motivational lines like: "Walk like it's for sale and the rent is due tonight." America's Top Model Tinny Hillary lapdog Howard Wolfson accuses Barack Obama of "Ken Starr tactics" in demanding Hillary's tax returns. Politico Obama flack: It is absurd that after weeks of badgering the media to ?vet? Sen. Obama, the Clinton campaign believes that they should be held to an entirely different standard. We don?t believe that expecting candidates for the presidency to disclose their tax returns somehow constitutes Ken Starr-tactics, but the kind of transparency and accountability that Americans are looking for and that?s been missing in Washington for far too long. And if Sen. Clinton doesn?t think that the Republicans will ask these very same questions, th...
Robert Novak: McCain Shreds Romney's Plan, Is Likely Nominee
2008-01-09 15:47:00
During four final days of campaigning after the Iowa caucuses, New Hampshire's Republican primary was one-on-one between Arizona Sen. John McCain and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney. Because the winner would become the party's most likely nominee, McCain's decisive victory puts him in a commanding position after being counted out for much of the last year. McCain won a majority of registered Republican voters here as well as New Hampshire independents who voted in the GOP primary (as he did in 2000 when he swamped George W. Bush). Romney's attacks on McCain's liberal immigration policies were popular with Republican voters, but did not resonate with McCain's independent base. Diminished by losing in Iowa, Romney entered the final weekend in New Hampshire some five percentage points behind. His strategists hoped the immigration issue would erase that lead. In fact, accusing McCain of advocating amnesty for illegal aliens had no more impact in New Hampshire than it had i...
The Malevolent Ignorance of Robert Novak
2007-12-25 13:50:00
by Larry C. Johnson When Forrest Gump, aspiring shrimp boat captain, was asked, “Are you stupid or something?” He replied, “Stupid is as stupid does.” So what is Bob Novak’s excuse? Stupidity seems too simple an explanation. I wonder how many people will be required to pull Novak’s fat head out of his ass. It is obviously lodged in a deep, dark place. His latest column, Subverting Bush at Langley, is one of the most ignorant, error-ridden diatribes I have read in quite sometime. How can he even be considered a credible journalist? Oh wait, never mind, he’s commenting at Fox News. Answered my own question. Consider these nonsensical assertions from today’s piece: ...but the Republicans stand alone in protesting the CIA’s defiant undermining of President Bush. In its clean bill of health for Iran on nuclear weapons development, the agency acted as an independent policymaker rather than an adviser. Now I can understand the average American living in Hooverville not kn...
How Robert Novak Sees Mike Huckabee
2007-11-26 22:17:00
Novak seems a little perturbed by Huckabee’s popularity in Iowa: Huckabee, a former Baptist minister educated at Ouachita Baptist University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. The danger is a serious contender for the nomination who passes the litmus test of social conservatives on abortion, gay marriage and gun control but is far removed from the conservative-libertarian model of Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan. Like I said before, I like Mike on some things, but there is more bad than good.
ROBERT NOVAK *I'VE SEEN NO EVIDENCE OF DIRT ON OBAMA
2007-11-19 20:42:00
In this video, Fox News interviews columnist Robert Novak, also called "The Prince of Darkness" who in this case spread darkness about Senator Barack Obama by stating that the Clinton campaign claimed to have news about a sex scandal about Obama. Novak -- in the video -- essentially that the source was not from the campaign but who was told by an agent of the campaign. In other words, his source has a source. It's called gossip and he's spreading it, but there's nothing there. Novak does compare Clinton to Nixon!
Clinton Camp Fires Back Over Column
2007-11-18 21:37:00
Top Democratic rivals for president verbally battled each other on Saturday after conservative columnist Robert Novak asserted front-runner Hillary Clinton claimed to have damaging information about Barack Obama. The Clinton campaign denied the accusation, saying Obama’s reaction to the vaguely worded column by Robert Novak played into Republican hands and showed the Illinois senator’s lack of ...
Novak Claims Clinton Campaign Has Dirt On Obama
2007-11-18 21:28:00
From Human Events: Agents of Sen. Hillary Clinton are spreading the word in Democratic circles that she has scandalous information about her principal opponent for the party’s presidential nomination, Sen. Barack Obama, but has decided not to use it. The nature of the alleged scandal was not disclosed. This word-of-mouth among Democrats makes Obama look vulnerable and ...
Stop the insanity: Key ?liberal? says Gingrich a ?great thinker?
2007-11-08 01:27:00
And you college football fans thought you were having a weird year. Pity the poor political junkies. This all happened in just the last couple of days: a Libertarian candidate raked in over $4 million in one day, a liberal senator says Newt Gingrich is a genius, and supposedly fed-up Dems capitulated on yet another Bush nominee. The latest Evans-Novak Political Report has quite a bit on Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX), the so-called “fringe” candidate running for the White House. Paul’s online haul is, per the report, “the largest single day of online fundraising in political history, and the largest single day of donations for any Republican candidate ever.” The report crows quite a bit about Paul, but that shouldn’t come as a total shock, as Novak has previously sung the praises of the Texas maverick. Speaking of singing praises, liberal Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) says that wannabe president Newt Gingrich, disgruntled architect of the Contract with Ameri...
Jimmy Carter: Idiot From Plains
2007-11-05 18:18:00
I think Robert Novak is suffering from temporary insanity this week as he promotes the new film about Jimmy Carter called Jimmy Carter: Man From Plains. Novak makes the ridiculous assertion that Carter’s views on the Israeli/Palestinian conflict are the correct ones. Like Carter he advocates the withdrawal of Israel from the West Bank, ceding even ...
Robert Novak: Rudy’s Coup
2007-09-22 22:09:00
Rudy Giuliani scored a hit with conservative activists by getting ahead of his Republican presidential competitors in blasting Sen. Hillary Clinton for not denouncing MoveOn.org’s attack on Gen. David Petraeus. Giuliani caught the spirit of Republican rage over the left-wing MoveOn.org’s full-page ad in The New York Times. On the day Petraeus presented his report on Iraq, the ad demeaned him as “General Betray Us.” Giuliani asked: “Who should America listen to — a decorated soldier’s commitment to defending America, or Hillary Clinton’s commitment to defending MoveOn.org?” Washington-based conservatives this week voiced approval that Giuliani was hitting Clinton instead of other Republican presidential hopefuls. DOLLARS FOR FRED Republican campaign donors who have been bombarded for two years with appeals for funds from Republican presidential candidates on Thursday received their first direct mail plea from Fred Thompson, who as...
Robert Novak: DEMS DEBATE PICK FOR VEEP
2007-08-19 07:14:00
For some time conventional wisdom leaned towards Barack Obama being Hillary Clintons choice for VP running mate. Robert Novak brings up some good points that might point to Obama being left out in the cold. Hillary ClintonÂ’s numbers for Illinois and blacks are very high to begin with. In some cases even higher than ObamaÂ’s. And taking a historical perspective it has been a long time since a Democrat won the presidency without a southern running mate. Maybe political necessity will win out over political correctness. But that makes sense if you agree that HillaryÂ’s ambition will over ride all other factors. ~RJH New York Post article link DEMS DEBATE PICK FOR VEEP By ROBERT D. NOVAK August 18, 2007 -- ANTICIPATING that Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton will clinch the Democratic presidential nomination, some supporters are beginning to argue against her principal rival - Sen. Barack Obama - for vice president. They maintain that Obama provides no general-election help for Clinton. As an...
Robert Novak on Hagel and Ron Paul
2007-08-15 17:11:00
Sen. Chuck Hagel, the Senate's toughest Republican critic of President Bush's war policy, has not ruled out a campaign for the GOP presidential nomination and will use the August recess of Congress to make up his mind. A major reason for the unexpectedly strong professions of support for Rep. Ron Paul's libertarian-conservative candidacy is that he is the only announced Republican presidential candidate opposed to the invasion of Iraq. Hagel as an anti-war candidate might attract a broader base of support than Paul. He has received many offers of financial support should he run. Hagel must decide what to do: run for president, run for Senate re-election, or get out of politics. The betting in the Senate Republican cloakroom is that he will retire, but Hagel has given no signal of his intentions and tells friends that he has yet to make a decision.
Robert Novak: McCains Last Gasp
2007-07-22 19:45:00
I have heard John McCain called John McPain a number of times by other conservatives. And while he was the darling of the media for a while his antics have oftimes been considered disingenuous and self serving. Ego driven is a word I have heard used rather often to describe his antics. John McCain’s attempts at portraying himself as the party maverick have become tiresome and one might even say boring. Especially so when at exactly the wrong time he is embracing such unpopular issues as amnesty for illegal’s and the war in Iraq. He could not have picked two worse topics to embrace or a worse time to start being pals with George Bush. I have never been one to suggest that our elected leaders keep their fingers in the political wind but in this case both of the aforementioned issues are in fact bad for America as well as being wildly unpopular. “Kiss of Death” is the term I would use to describe supporting either issue. Sucks to be McCain. ~RJH Human Events article link MCCAIN'S ...
Robert Novak: Fred Thompsons first fund raiser
2007-07-22 16:28:00
Human Events article link Fred Thompson's Progressby Robert NovakPosted: 07/21/2007In advance of a formal solicitation for funds or an announcement of his candidacy, Fred Thompson's presidential campaign is quietly organizing its first Washington fund-raiser at the downtown J.W. Marriott hotel the last week in July. This event will give the clearest signal so far of how successful the actor-politician will be in his late-starting drive to finance his run for president. It will be watched carefully to see whether Thompson picks up important lobbyists and other Washingtonians who earlier had lined up for Sen. John McCain's fading campaign for the presidential nomination.A footnote: Thompson may not announce officially as a candidate until September, although an "exploratory" committee may soon be unveiled.
Robert Novak piece
2007-04-29 05:41:00
Robert Novak has a piece out with some discussion of Chuck Hagel's future plans:HAGEL?S DECISION Sen. Chuck Hagel, facing opposition from the right wing of the Nebraska Republican Party, is expected to decide within the next two and one-half months what he will do in 2008: run for President, seek a third term in the Senate, or neither. Hagel has been testing the presidential waters in Iowa and New Hampshire over the past several months. He would be the only major Republican presidential prospect who opposes President Bush?s Iraq war policy. His stance on the war may force a contested Nebraska primary against Hagel, who has been the state?s most popular Republican in a generation. State Atty. Gen. Jon Bruning has withdrawn his earlier support for Hagel and indicated he may run against him for the Republican nomination for the Senate. However, Hagel would be backed by Gov. Dave Heineman and other prominent Nebraska Republicans. I don't know if the time table is accurate or not,...
