Rockies hit 3 HRs, extend wild-card lead (AP)
2009-09-20 02:20:00 Blowing leads has been an uncomfortable trait of the Colorado Rockies lately. They did it again Saturday night, only this time, they came back in a hurry and went on to pound the Arizona Diamondbacks 10-4 and open a little breathing space in their wild-card race. The victory, combined with San Francisco's 12-1 loss at ...

White Sox Trade Thome to Dodgers, Contreras to Rockies
2009-09-01 06:27:00 The Jim Thome era in Chicago officially ended Monday night as he was traded to the Los Angeles Dodgers for minor league infielder Justin FullerThe White Sox have traded Jim Thome and cash to the Dodgers for minor league infielder Justin Fuller. They have also sent Jose Contreras and cash to the Rockies for right-hander Brandon Hynick. The two deals save the White Sox roughly $3 million in payroll for the rest of the of the 2009 season, (depending on how much cash the Sox gave up) but also give both players a chance to be in a pennant race through the month of September.I'm happy for Jim Thome, as he's one of the good guys in the game today, and...

I go out of miiiiiindHit me, Gorzy, one more time! I just want to get out of Colorado with a split. I don't expect a miracle; I didn't even expect to beat Jason Marquis. A win tonight puts us at 6-5 for the road trip, and that's about all we can ask for a team that frequently forgets its offense back at the hotel. If they wanted to forget Aaron Miles at the hotel, I'd be okay with that. A Cards loss would also be smashing, but I try not to get...

2009-08-09 19:42:00 And the hits just keep on coming. Today (or last night, I don't remember), the Cubs announced that Carlos Zambrano will be placed on the 15-day DL, retroactive to August 2. 2009-08-09 00:40:00 These are the times that try men's souls. . . The Cubs placed right-hander Carlos Zambrano on the 15-day disabled list on Saturday, retroactive to Aug. 2, with back spasms. To replace Zambrano on the 25-man roster, the Cubs recalled right-handed reliever Jeff Stevens from their Triple-A Iowa affiliate. Stevens is available for Saturday night's game against the Rockies at Coors Field. As if that weren't enough, our offense seems to have gone D.B. Cooper on us again, Josh Hamilton admits to having fallen off the wagon, and we're facing a guy tied for most wins in the NL. Did I mention that person is Jason Marquis? (ducks and covers)...

2009-08-07 23:36:00 I think this is how we all feel about Geo coming back Strap on an oxygen tank and prepare to have Coors thrust upon you, because tonight the Cubs roll on into Denver, and this time we have Geo Soto with us. Carlos Zambrano (7-4, 3.55) will take the mound for Cubbies against the unfortunately-named Ubaldo Jimenez (8-9, 3.76). Jimenez is one of the few pitchers who can probably match Z when it comes to velocity. Luckily for us, Cubs hitters have had good luck against him in the past, with several of our players hitters over .500 against. The same can't be said for the Rockies, who have struggled against Z in the past....

2009-04-15 18:20:00 This is the only picture of ass on my gamethread! Wow, look at that ass. That is quite an ass isn't it? I can't say for certain it's Rich Harden's ass, but it is magnificent anyway. You should all be ashamed of yourselves for objectifying this man. Rich Harden takes on longtime whipping boy, the Marquis de Suck. Okay, okay that was unfair. Lets look at this objectively. Jason Marquis was better than a serviceable pitcher. If you count him as a number five, he was damn near excellent. I say these things to be able to point my finger at the few dimwits in the stands who actually booed him. Come on you guys, really? Worse yet, you booed Glendon Rusch? The man suffered from near career ending blood clots for crying out loud. Show some class. That being said, let's get out there and kick some Rockies ass! Someone will be along soon with the line up.

2009-04-13 20:16:00 What we want: YAY! What we currently have: Booooooo! Well, kinda. We don't have the cool lightning. The Trib is claiming this game will start at 2:00 today, and I'd really really like to believe that. But out here to the west, it's still a solid line of dark gray clouds and rain that is barking and meowing. If we DO play, it'l be a big start for Ted Lilly, who really hasn't looked all that great this season, whether in the WBC, ST, or his first start in Houston last week. Scheduled to go to day for the Rockies, is Ubaldo Jimenez, the most unfortunately-named man in baseball. If we play. While we're waiting, let's all take a moment and take one more look at REEDZ's supercool catch last night: http://chicago.cubs.mlb.com/me.-.. And a tip of the cap to Vegetable Lasagna's super-cool reaction. It's classy moves that like that have earned him the right to a neutral nickname like "Vegetable Lasagna," rather than the slightly nasty "Fat Fielder." If you have a good anti-rain d...
91. Go to a Rockies Game
2008-09-17 16:33:00 One of the mommas on my mommy message board posted a link to a survey to get free Rockies tickets. This was just a few weeks after I posted my 101 list and was perfect! We went to the game last night and had a great time! Sweet Pie was more interested in the snacks we brought and the food at the concession stand, but she enjoyed it. Coors Field also has a little playground for the kids which was right near our seats as well so we had to visit there too. Watching the gameCheck out the moonI am so glad that I was able to go to the game and take my family. I am not really into baseball, but I got into it while I was there.http://www.text-link-ads.-com/xml_blogger.php?inventory_k-ey=7FK6WL5FBEDW4QBQPZ4C&feed=1-

Should Rockies Deal Holliday?
2008-06-01 10:54:00 The Denver Post has split opinions on whether or not the Rockies should deal Matt Holliday this season. Columnist Troy E. Renck says the Rockies have been bad "from top to bottom." He cites the rotation, situational hitting, leaky bullpen, and dealing with pressure as problem spots and that they would need to go "70-36 in their final 106 games" to be in contention. As MLBTR has covered here, Woody Paige reports that the Rockies can't tie up $40MM in three position players and that Scott Boras won't accept a hometown discount. Paige proposes:Holliday would be a significant addition for Cleveland, and the Rockies also could send best friend Garrett Atkins or Brad Hawpe... [for] starting pitcher Cliff Lee (8-1, 1.88 ERA and four superb pitches), a middle reliever and an outfield prospect. The Rox, depending on the second player in the deal, play Ian Stewart at third or in left, and Ryan Spilborghs becomes a full-time starting outfielder who could be the next Hollida...
