A quick check on Alfa's press site, revealed the photos to bear the tag "MY 2008," though it appears now that the images are in fact of a refreshed car for the new model year. The images have since been removed from Alfa's Website.Alfa fans know that the 159 debuted in production form at the 2005 Geneva Motor Show and has been on sale in Europe since then. The model will be critical to the Italian automaker's planned return to the U.S. market, which will begin in 2009 with the 8c coupe and convertible. Code-named CXover, the vehicle is based on the 2003 Kamal Concept. Several changes are expected to be made from the concept, including stacked circular tail lamps, rounder headlights, and the latest iteration of Alfa's signature grille. Targeting the BMW X3, Volkswagen Tiguan, Audi Q5, and Mercedes-Benz GLK-Class, the CXover will look something like an enlarged version of the recently-unveiled MiTo hatchback.
