MITT ROMNEY NUKES JOHN MCCAIN - SAYS McCAIN WRONG, REPREHENSIBLE !! VIDEO
2008-09-14 17:37:00 With a mic and a camera to him, former Governor Mitt Romney, who perhaps is feeling the sting of not being picked as McCain's Number Two, and thus able to see with clarity the dishonest presidential campaign Senator McCain is running, went nuclear on Senator McCain in this video from the Republican Debates:

But let me ask you -- what do you think Washington is right now, liberal or conservative? Is a Supreme Court liberal or conservative that awards Guantanamo terrorists with constitution rights? It's liberal! Is a government liberal or conservative that puts the interests of the teachers union ahead of the needs of our children? -- It's liberal! Is a Congress liberal or conservative that stops nuclear power plants and off-shore drilling, making us more...
At Least Its Not Romney
2008-08-30 05:11:00 That was my original thought when I heard Palin was announced as VP. Having given it a little more thought though I have to say that McCain's decision is a calculated risk. McCain had to know that this would generate more buzz than Biden being tapped for veep would ever get. Additionally during an election that is about change it allows him to have a a running mate that doesn't promote the GOP old white guy stereotype. To some degree Palin's views will help assuage part of the GOP base. It could also greatly influence the outcome of the VP debates.Because Biden repeatedly ripping Romney (or Jindal or Pawlenty) a new one would have the equivalent of political bloodsport if he does the same thing to Palin he'll just appear to be a bully. That means Biden will have to walk a fine line and that's not something he's particularly good at.On the other hand he chose an inexperienced governor of a sparsely populated state. But if she's as personable and as smart as I hear, campaigns ...

McCain's last three veep choices-Jindal, Romney, and Crist
2008-05-22 15:22:00 I guess it's smart to send up this trial balloon. Let's see how the Corner and other conservatives react. Let's look at polls and see how this shakes out. I'm surprised by Pawlenty's absence. Of the three, I like Jindal because he's the freshest, both in age and ideas, although Jindal may highlight the age issue instead of diffuse it. Oddly, his Asian-ness may help McCain win back some of the college crowd for McCain. Romney just doesn't have electoral pull. The only reason conservatives liked him was that he was the conservative alternative to McCain. McCain's already up big in Florida and shouldn't need Crist. Story. John McCain is hosting several officials considered to be potential running mates at his Arizona retreat over the Memorial Day weekend — but his campaign insists the gathering is just a social affair. The presumptive GOP presidential nominee plans to host two-dozen guests, including Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, Florida Gov. Charlie Crist and form...

Mitt Romney Criticizes Obama?s Experience
2008-05-08 00:41:00 Former Presidential candidate and Governor of Massachusetts Mitt Romney went on CNN this morning to play the role of political attack man, which is the only thing he knows how to do, in order to criticize Barack Obama’s experience, reminding viewers that Obama has never run a business or enterprise or government. Obama speech- Why elitists admire him more than Mitt Romney.
2008-04-16 05:00:00 From here. First: “I am amused about this notion of elitist, given that when you’re raised by a single mom, when you’re on food stamps for a while when you were growing up, you went to school on scholarship….” he said, also talking about his wife Michelle’s money troubles. “So when somebody makes that argument, particularly given that I spent my entire life working with workers, low-income communities to try to make people’s lives a little bit better, then that’s when you know we’re in political silly season,” he told a veterans forum in Washington, Pa. Obama can't be this naive. In America, esteem doesn't come from your family background. In fact, a tough background is, in individual achievement-oriented America, prestigious in and of itself which is why Obama (and Edwards) keeps mentioning his hardscrabble life on the beaches of Honolulu and in the halls of prep school and Clinton, Kerry, and Bush never menti...

How Mitt Romney Can Save the Country
2008-03-28 00:13:00 In politics, perception is reality. Even though the President does not "manage" the economy, nor do we ever want him to, many people think that is what takes place. Consequently, a large portion of our citizenry vote for whom they feel will be best at "dictating" our economy, even if their choices are largely irrational. Because of this behavior, we hear daily how Hillary Clinton or Barack... Click the Headline Link to Visit Copious Dissent and Read the Full Story.
Mitt Romney: Nowhere to Go
2008-03-26 03:02:00 In my last post, I addressed presumptive Republican nominee John McCain's potential vice presidential picks. I primarily examined the merits of former Pennsylvania Governor Tom Ridge, Florida Governor Charlie Crist, South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham, former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, and Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman. However, there was one prominent name that I deliberately left unmentioned because I felt he deserved his own post. That potential pick is former presidential rival and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney.Mitt Romney received a bum rap during this year's presidential campaign. Some of it was unfair because it pertained to issues beyond his control that should not have even been issues to begin with, such as his religion. Other problems he experienced were of his own doing, such as exaggerating, changing his positions on several key issues, and a general sense of artificiality or detachment because of his wealth and perceived "perfect" family ...

McCain-Romney?
2008-03-12 23:33:00 Mitt Romney made comments yesterday that sound to me as if he's trying to get the vice presidential nomination in Minneapolis this summer. Frankly, given the clear distaste visible between Romney and John McCain during the primaries and Romney's weak bargaining position I don't see a McCain-Romney ticket happening.

Romney son considers congressional bid
2008-02-26 16:41:00 There won't be a Mitt on the ballot this fall, but there may be a Romney. Romney's son Josh, a frequent presence on the presidential campaign trail before his dad dropped out of the race, says he is considering running for Congress this year against Jim Matheson, a Democrat representing Utah's Second House district. "I haven't ruled it out," Romney, 32, was quoted as saying in yesterday's Deseret Morning News, a Salt Lake City daily. "I'm pretty young, but I've had good experience on the campaign trail." For the time being, Josh Romney said, the family is taking a little time off from politics. He told the paper they skied together at Deer Valley over the weekend. Reflecting on his father's campaign, he said that the loss to former Arkansas governor Mike Huckabee in Iowa was a major blow. "It killed a lot of my dad's momentum, to be honest," he said. "That was really damaging." If Josh Romney were to enter politics, he would follow in the footsteps of not just his fath...

If / when McCain drops out, will the GOP turn to Huckabee, Romney or someon
2008-02-21 06:13:00 Just asking...And if/when McCain does drop out, we've got ourselves a whole new race - it would be the best thing to happen to the GOP and they know it. It simply wouldn't be the lambasting that was gonna happen if he was the candidate... Watch for more lobbyist scandals, a reintroduction of Keating Five (especially in the context of more failing banks) or even the raising of health issues between now and the convention as the GOP becomes convinced that they're nominating a sure-loser.The Washington Post quoted longtime aide John Weaver, who split with McCain last year, as saying he met with Vicki Iseman and urged her to stay away from McCain. The New York Times suggested an inappropriate relationship between the Arizona senator and Iseman, a Washington lobbyist. The New York Times quoted anonymous aides saying they had confronted McCain and Iseman, urging them to stay away from each other, before his failed presidential campaign in 2000.The published reports said McCain and Ise...

Romney Endorses McCain
2008-02-15 20:16:00 One week after leaving the race, former Massachusetts Governor announced his support for presumptive nominee John McCain yesterday. Though Romney and McCain had a tense (at best) relationship on the trail, Romney hinted in his withdrawal speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference that a McCain endorsement was eminent. The two often exchanged personal barbs in debates and in campaign ads, but their past (and most likely lingering) hostility was well hidden in yesterday's appearance in Boston. Romney called McCain an "American hero," while seeking to put the past behind them. "Even when the contest was close and our disagreements were debated, the caliber of the man was apparent," Romney told reporters, adding, "Primaries are tough. Now we move forward."Given McCain's sizable delegate lead, it is no surprise that Romney is endorsing his former rival. Besides seeking to unite the party, Romney is also hoping to build goodwill with rank and file Republicans. At the sam...

Romney endorses McCain for GOP nomination
2008-02-15 00:49:00 Former Republican presidential hopeful Mitt Romney announced Thursday that he is backing Sen. John McCain in his bid for the Oval Office. "I am honored today to give my full support to Sen. McCain's candidacy for the presidency of the United States," Romney said in a joint news conference with Sen. McCain by his side. "This is a man capable of leading our country in this dangerous hour." What's most interesting about this is that Romney is asking his delegates to vote for McCain. Romney will "release" his delegates to McCain, meaning he will encourage them to get behind McCain's candidacy, the source said. Romney had collected 286 delegates before he suspended his campaign two weeks ago. Those delegates would give McCain 1,013 total delegates, 78 short of securing the nomination. That means if they do vote for McCain, it's almost a mathematical impossibility for him to lose. With so many states left, coming up with 78 votes shouldn't be difficult at all. Travis trav...

Romney to endorse McCain
2008-02-14 19:39:00 The Associated Press is reporting that former White House hopeful Mitt Romney has settled his grudge with Sen. John McCain and will now endorse the GOP’s likely presidential candidate. I’m guessing somebody has his eye on a nice cabinet post. Secretary of Treasury perhaps? Then we could see that economic prowess on full display. CNN says the endorsement is expected to happen at a Boston event at 3:30 p.m. today. I’m wondering if this means McCain would get Romney’s 291 delegates. If so, that would give the Arizona senator a total of 1,116 delegates, just 75 away from clinching the formal nomination.
Huckabee still fighting with Romney
2008-02-12 18:11:00 HE SAID WHAT? Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who is apparently still running for president despite having already lost, made an attempt to defend comments he made in December that, “Mormons believe that Jesus and the devil are brothers.” Oh yeah… he totally went there. Huckabee says it is “unfounded” for anyone to say he has alienated the Mormon community or that he used rival Mitt Romney’s LDS faith as a wedge issue. Huckabee, talking to reporters over breakfast in Washington Tuesday just two blocks from the White House, blamed a single remark he made to The New York Times Magazine last year — when he asked whether Mormons believed Jesus and Satan are brothers — as the cause of the angst in the Mormon community. The LDS Church issued a statement following that remark that acknowledged the belief that Jesus and Satan were both children of God, as well as all of humanity. Still, Huckabee’s comment was seen by many as pejorat... |
