Rotary Club Grove Fest: A Carnival of Sorts
2010-08-28 00:24:00 The summer in review: Downers Grove's new Rotary-sponsored Grove Fest vs. Heritage Fest, which was cancelled after a 27 year run.
I blame the schools for this. And maybe the Rotary Club. (Commutation 13)
2009-06-11 15:41:00 Today, just before I got to the parking garage, I got behind a car that had this bumper sticker:Evolution is a theory. Kind of like gravity. That's a dumb bumper sticker. I believe in evolution; I'm not some flat-earther who's offended by the idea that there were fish that became humans. But that bumper sticker shows why "scientists" have made a huge error in deciding to just make things up: people no longer understand science. In real science -- sans quotation marks, a theory is something that has not yet been proven. It's a hypothesis-- an idea you have that you hope to prove through experimentation.Evolution is a theory because it hasn't been proven. While Darwin's finches are a compelling case for evolution, they are a compelling circumstantial case -- meaning more than one inference is available from the facts. That's what "circumstantial" evidence is -- you can draw more than one conclusion from it. If you hear a gun shot and run into the room and I'm standing ther...

I want to be Deputy Assisstant Secretary for Insular Affairs of the Interio
2007-08-20 03:23:00 Not really because it looks like a cool job or because I'd get to travel and make lots of money, I just want to tell people that I'm the DASI...because everyone knows that DASI is a 13-element interferometer designed to measure temperature and polarization anisotropy of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) Radiation over a large range of scales with high sensitivity. Scientists everywhere would get a real kick out of that one!...and now back to reality:OK, not really.I believe this photo highlights all the reasons why I am a candidate for DASI. We just need to ensure that a Democrat is elected POTUS in 2008...and it would help if she (or he) read my blog.If I am given this job, I promise to hate American Samoa a little more than David Cohen hates the Marianas.Just kidding.I promise to hate American Samoa as much as Allan Stayman hates the Marianas.Phew.Alright, now that I've got that out of my system, back to reality.I met with David Cohen and two other Saipan Bloggers on Friday...

Captains of industry
2007-06-12 00:00:00 Rotary Club members are captains of industry, leaders in their professions. It's good that I am now able to reach Rotarians by giving talks during their weekly meetings, and deliver the message of the I.T. industry. And the message is: for local investments in I.T. to fluorish.
