The former Yankees pitching coach was added to Yost’s staff on Tuesday. He’ll be tasked with helping ...

Cubs fans in Kansas City react to an exciting win on Friday nightCubs get some big breaksAnd for once, take advantageWin one in K.C.In a crazy ninth inning, Tony Campana reached first base on a pop bunt that was called a trap but looked close on the replay. After a D.J. LeMahieu single moved Campana to third, a Royals error prevented an inning ending double play as Campana scored to give the Cubs the lead.  A Starlin Castro single scored LeMahieu with an insurance run, and a typically tense Marmol save gave the Cubs a win....
Royal Wedding Guest List Revealed!
2011-04-23 23:50:00
The Royal Wedding guest list has been revealed a mere days before the big day! It is of course the crème del crème to say the least. Ever since the news broke that Prince William and Kate Middleton were getting hitched the question of who would be attending the wedding of the century has been brought up repeatedly. Well today the prestigious list has been revealed to the public and now we are all in the know. There is of course the given attendees, like his family, her family, their friends, his military comrades, diplomats, Royals form other countries, you know the usual suspects for such an affair. Then there is what some refer to as the star power guests. I am talking about Joss Stone, Guy Ritchie, who seemed random to me but turns out he is pals with both William and Kate, Elton John and David Furnish, David and Victoria Beckham, British television presenter Ben Fogle, Mr. Bean star Rowan Atkinson and Australian Olympic swimmer Ian Thorpe It may not sound like much on paper or a...

Sox lose 2 of 3 to Royals in 24 hours.
2010-08-23 00:07:00
The White Sox and the Royals just played, by my count, 31 innings of baseball in the last 22 hours. That was pretty ridiculous. The Royals took 2/3. I haven't watched a lot of it and I'm sorta glad. Joe West's crew was doing the umpiring and West was behind the plate today, and despite Hawk's rantings, he actually had a point, and he took the time to prove it with split-screen views. The Royals got call after call, West made sure he made all the calls himself, and he blew a lot of them.   Today's brightest spots were bullpen guys; Tony Pena and Bobby Jenks. Pena was battered around for 1 inning last night...the 4th inning, gave up...

Not Dead Yet; Sox Rally in 7th to Top Royals 5-4
2010-05-16 09:28:00
For even the most humble fans, gutting out wins against the Royals is not indicative of where the White Sox should be as a ballclub. But as someone who's followed this team all year, seeing something resembling life from this team and from this offense, is nothing short of euphoria-inducing. At this point, signs of life, signs that the White Sox realized that down 3 on the road, just a few innings from dropping to 8 games under .500, to dropping to 2-3 on the year against the perennial divisional doormat , a few innings from being really screwed was encouraging. I was encouraged to see Jake Peavy scream with anger because he wanted to pitch a complete game even after he had given up four runs in the first three innings. I was encouraged by Matt Thornton pitching through discomfort in his throwing arm to finish the save (albeit only moments after being utterly mortified). I was very encouraged by the Sox seizing the urgency of the moment in the 7th, and responding with two sing...

White Sox Lose to Royals 6-1 to Become the .400 Team They Were Destined to
2010-05-15 07:44:00
A more popular blog than this one on this site profits on readers' love of counting to ten, and feeling like they've accomplished or synthesized something by doing so. It stands as stark contrast to this blog, where I'll often write a paragraph that's longer than six sentences and people will complain about 'wanting parts of their life back'. But to prove to you that given proper prompting, I will sell out, and sell out hard; here's a top ten list! Top Ten Signs Your Baseball Team Is Going Nowhere, and I Mean Nowhere, This Season: 10. You just watched Mark Teahen (in your team's uniform) react to an easy double play ball at 3rd base like it was enemy mortar fire. 9. The Boston Red Sox' plan to rejuvenate their offense revolves around you trading them your best player for seemingly no reason...and every baseball expert agrees that it will probably happen 8. Your manager wonders aloud "Am I lying to myself?" during post-game press conferences 7. You catch your te...
Hope You Didn't Get Too Excited, Sox Lose 7-2 to Royals
2010-05-05 08:15:00
Last night was just one win, but it featured elements indicative of a team turning a corner; like a preponderence of timely hitting rather than a reliance on power, and a consistent effort from a highly-lauded but poorly performing starter. That's why tonight's 7-2 backslide was all the more discouraging. The Pale Hose reverted back to hitting their way out of every scoring opportunity, hitting into to two double plays and stranding seven. To make matters worse, Gavin Floyd undid the progress of his last start with a poor outing tonight that really should have been a lot more dreadful than it was. And now we're tied for last place again.

Rosenthal: Royals, Giants, Tigers, Cubs, and Sox Interested in Scott Podsed
2009-12-10 19:21:00
Ken Rosenthal is reporting that the Kansas City Royals, Detroit Tigers, San Francisco Giants, and Chicago Cubs are all contending with the White Sox for the services of free agent Scott Podsednik. Rosenthal is probably accurate about the other teams, but the Sox interest in Podsednik has waned over recent weeks, so much so that Williams has told the media on multiple occasions that the Sox have “moved-on”....

Yes, this is off by a day. Good for you, Poindexter. You should call "First!" too. It's nearly here. You've got your fantasy team drafted (not that kind of fantasy, Carl), you've got your sick days timed for those important mid-day games, and you've got MLB Network on your TV (unless you live with me, as I still have not set up the switch to DirecTV, Comcast, or anything but Douche Network). Seven more days and you can begin to have your naive heart broken all over again. Just be careful, as it appears that caring too much can actually kill you. The Royals -- the lowly, lowly Royals. I am firmly convinced that any random nine guys could start for the Royals and the end of the season record would be the same. Are you listening, Royals organization? My clients could lower your payroll (and increase mine) -- I'll be in touch...
