The Cardinal Egan and Rudy Giuliani Show: Both Know Better
2008-04-29 18:42:00 New York?s Cardinal Egan yesterday indicated he was upset about Rudi Giuliani?s reception of Holy Communion during the recent visit of Benedict XVI. His Eminence indicated the ex-Gotham mayor had violated their mutual understanding. 2008-04-09 16:25:00 No, that’s not the beginning of some joke with a corny punch line - they really do have something in common. What is it? They’re all huge Yankees fans. Giuliani you probably knew about; “The Boss’s” affinity is a little less public. SpongeTech’s (SPNG) support is coming in the form of team sponsorship. SpongeTech will be giving ...

Gubernatorial Watch: Scandal In New York
2008-03-10 22:05:00 New York Governor Eliot Spitzer, easily elected in 2006 after twelve years of Republican rule, has reportedly been linked to a prostitution ring. First reported by the New York Times (apparently not so liberally biased today), Spitzer was caught on tape by federal investigators arranging to meet with a prostitute in Washington, DC. Listed in an affidavit as "Client 9," Spitzer was informed of the implication on Friday by federal officials.Spitzer appeared with his wife for a press conference this afternoon, in which he called the situation a "private matter," adding:I have acted in a way that violated the obligations to my family and that violates my--or any--sense of right and wrong. I apologize first, and most importantly, to my family. I apologize to the public, to whom I promised better. I do not believe that politics in the long run is about individuals. It is about ideas, the public good and doing what is best for the State of New York. But I have disappointed and failed to ...

How Much for Those Delegates?
2008-03-10 04:51:00 The candidate that out spends their opponent usually wins. If that statement were true Mitt Romney would be the Republican nominee and Rudy Giuliani would have more than one delegate. Romney spent over $87 million dollars in his attempt to be the Republican nominee and lost. Obama and Clinton are still battling it out to be the Democratic nominee. Obama and Clinton have both spend over $100 million dollars so far in this campaign and neither of them have locked up the nomination. When we look at all of the spending during this campaign it seems that it is getting out of control. Here is a breakdown of how much each candidate has spent through the end of January and how many delegates they were awarded: Republicans: John McCain Money Spent: $48,518,664 Delegates: 1260 Unpledged RNC: 129 Mitt Romney Money Spent: $87,644,955 Delegates: 272 Unpledged RNC: 1 Rudy...

Romney Endorses McCain
2008-02-15 20:16:00 One week after leaving the race, former Massachusetts Governor announced his support for presumptive nominee John McCain yesterday. Though Romney and McCain had a tense (at best) relationship on the trail, Romney hinted in his withdrawal speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference that a McCain endorsement was eminent. The two often exchanged personal barbs in debates and in campaign ads, but their past (and most likely lingering) hostility was well hidden in yesterday's appearance in Boston. Romney called McCain an "American hero," while seeking to put the past behind them. "Even when the contest was close and our disagreements were debated, the caliber of the man was apparent," Romney told reporters, adding, "Primaries are tough. Now we move forward."Given McCain's sizable delegate lead, it is no surprise that Romney is endorsing his former rival. Besides seeking to unite the party, Romney is also hoping to build goodwill with rank and file Republicans. At the sam...

2008-02-15 13:09:00 At Wednesday?s Congressional hearing, Larry Breuer, one of Roger Clemens? attorneys, seemed pretty upset at how things were going and showed his displeasure by pointing at someone as pictured here. So who was he pointing at? It couldn?t have been Giuliani since Rudy is a Yankees fan (I think). Maybe they are both pointing at John Kerry was who is a Red Sox fan (I believe). Is that why John Kerry is ready to fight only to be held back by Barack Obama? There is only one who can stop this senseless pointing!I admit this was a pretty stupid post. I just saw the picture of Breuer pointing (courtesy of Jonathan Newton, The Washington Post) and wanted to share other pictures of people pointing. Have a nice weekend!

Her campaign was built on inevitability, a haughty operation so confident it would have the nomination wrapped up by now that it didn't even put a field organization in place for the states that were to come after the megaprimary on Feb. 5.Clinton's positions, most notably her support for the Iraq invasion and her refusal to recant that vote, were geared more to battling a Republican in the general election than to winning over an angry Democratic base clamoring for change. Not until last fall did she seem to acknowledge that she faced opposition in the Democratic primaries, so focused was her message on George W. Mitt Romney To Drop Out
2008-02-07 19:10:00 Former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney is preparing to leave the presidential race today, announcing his decision in remarks at the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC). Romney's decision was preceded by disappointing Super Tuesday results and a number of silver medals in crucial early contests. As we noted yesterday, Romney seems to be stepping aside both for the good of the party and for the preservation of his own future ambitions. After meeting with top advisers, he has apparently determined that, though still technically attainable, the nomination is simply out of reach. In his speech later today, he will tell supporters:I disagree with Senator McCain on a number of issues, as you know. But I agree with him on doing whatever it takes to be successful in Iraq, on finding and executing Osama bin Laden, and on eliminating Al Qaeda and terror. If I fight on in my campaign, all the way to the convention, I would forestall the launch of a national campaign and make i...

That is, if the sales amount is $1.40 and I hand the clerk $5.00, the clerk should first lay the bill perpendicularly on the note trays of the cash register (as proof of what denomination was handed him in case the customer mis-remembers) and then announce the result of the transaction in a voice I can hear, that is, "$1.40 out of $5.00, here is your change, three dollars and sixty cents" then put 60 cents into my hand at which point the customer can do one of two things: transfer the coins elsewhere or keep the hand open for the rest of the change.
