Reggie Bush Should Be Ryan Grant
2008-01-15 05:26:00 While watching Ryan Grant slice through the Seahawks defense on Saturday, it suddenly hit me. This is the kind of running back Reggie Bush should be. A quick burst to turn the corner. Amazing cuts at full speed. The remarkable acceleration to blow by safeties even after being slowed by hits in the box. Watch Grant get the corner below. Watch his other highlights from Saturday’s game. Now take a look a this highlight video (or one of the many others ) of Bush at USC. Carefully watch some of Bush’s more standard runs. There’s a little more shake ‘n bake than with Grant, but the overall running style is pretty similar. So what makes Grant the stud and Bush the dud? It’s hard to say. Probably Grant read his blockers better and therefore he’s able to hit the hole a split second faster. In the NFL that can make all the difference.

What Happened Week 14: Ryan Grant, Trent Edwards, Adrian Peterson
2007-12-10 22:54:00 Peyton Manning completed 4 passes for touchdowns yesterday and another nine passes not for touchdowns. That's a 30.7% touchdown percentage. Very efficient. The Chiefs had 17 carries for 16 yards yesterday. Take away the longest run of the day and it was 16 carries for nine yards. But hey, Tony Gonzalez had a good day. I realize nobody other than fantasy football owners may have noticed, and nobody else probably cares, but Laurence Maroney sucks. Adrian Peterson (the good one, not the Chicago one) had 14 carries for three yards. Take away his longest run of the day and he finished with 13 carries for -1 yards. That happened against the Forty Niners. I'm guessing that game film is being requested by more than a few teams this afternoon. If Shaun Alexander doesn't retire or get traded, figuring out how Alexander and Morris will split carries will be one of fantasy football's biggest questions heading into the 2008 season. It's hard ...

Thanksgiving Football: What About Ryan Grant?
2007-11-22 16:42:00 Given many teams will be setting line-ups prior to today's 12:30PM kick-off for any player on one of the six teams going on Turkey Day, I would be conservative with any start/sit decisions that involve any injury questions i.e Packers' RB Ryan Grant. Nor would I start any borderline players from poor teams i.e any of the New York Jets or Atlanta Falcons. Gambling on a Jericho Cotchery type or Warrick Dunn one makes little sense if you already decide each week between/amongst a few options like them. with 13 games yet to be played after today, there will still be options prior to Sunday's line-up decisions. Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions (+3.5), 12:30PM FOX With questions about Packers RB Ryan Grant availability, no one is noting the Lions at 6-4 are home underdogs on Thanksgiving. I would lay the points on that alone. I wouldn't be surprised to see Grant play if he is close given he will have ten days to recover following this game. As mentione...

Ryan Grant Proves to be 3rd String
2007-11-08 20:32:00 When the season began I don't even know where Ryan Grant started on the depth chart, but I am assuming it was behind Jackson, Wynn, and Morency. After rushing for 104 yards against Denver, he was a hot pick-up for the week. I wasn't too impressed by his performance, he was remember, facing the worst rushing defense in the league. On Sunday Ryan Grant couldn't do anything against Kansas City only rushing for 55 yards on 19 carries (2.9 avg).Next week they play Minnesota, so don't even think about starting him!
Meet Ryan Grant
2007-11-03 00:16:00 This week the mysterious Ryan Grant becomes the Packers' newest starting running back, providing a possible option for fantasy owners burned by weeks of poor performances. The chart below shows the best Green Bay rushing performance for each game this season. It doesn't take long to figure out why the Packers rank dead last in the league in rushing offense this season. Week Player Rushing Yds Rushing TDs 1 Brandon Jackson 40 0 2 DeShawn Wynn 50 2 3 Brandon Jackson 22 1 4 DeShawn Wynn 20 0 5 DeShawn Wynn 78 1 6 DeShawn Wynn 37 1 8 Ryan Grant 104 0 While DeShawn Wynn has produced four touchdowns, his inability to regularly produce more than 50 yards rushing makes him a risky fantasy option. Brandon Jackson was a hot rookie sleeper in the preseason, but injuries (and the emergence of DeShawn Wynn) have taken him out of the picture. This week Grant faces a Chiefs team ranked 17th in rushing defense, a team that gave up 78 yards to Ahma...
