"Last Light" at Saatchi Gallery Showdown

I've entered "Last Light" into the next round of the Saatchi Showdown. If you like it, you can vote for it on a scale from one to ten, ten being the highest. Votes for this round start on 12-17 and end on 12-24. This abstract acrylic has an optical quality. I painted it on 18 x 24 inch gallery-wrapped canvas. It was inspired by the rose, orange, and azure hues reflected on the lake surface after sunset. After a hotly contested pitch for the ad campaign of the 20th Philippine Advertising Congress, Ace Saatchi & Saatchi was proclaimed the winner. The Ace Saatchi & Saatchi team was represented by executive creative director Raoul Floresca, creative director Manu Sandejas, account manager Gigi Garcia, and copywriter Edwin Ortega. They will now handle the AdCon?s tri-media campaign in TVC, radio, and print ads. Floresca recalls the day when they received calls from Ad Congress creative committee chair Raul Castro and competition sub-committee chair Merlee Jayme. ?Both Raul and Merlee asked us to go the Ad Congress office for a meeting,? he relates. EXCLUSIVE Advertising agency Saatchi Saatchi has been branded "despicable" by the family of a former creative director who was sacked after suffering a stroke. Personnel Today exclusively revealed in May 2006 that Mike Austin, a former creative director of Gulf Saatchi Saatchi in Bahrain, was dismissed just two weeks after having a stroke on his way to work. In the following weeks, the lease on his house was terminated and his pay was cancelled. Documents obtained by Personnel Today show that Saatchi Saatchi acknowledged Austin had suffered a "tragic illness" and that his case was "complex and distressing". But the company has insisted that because the agency in the Gulf is run as a franchise operation, it is not under its control. However, Johann Xavier, Saatchi Saatchi's chief financial officer for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, has now offered the Austins $100,000 (£49,838) as a "goodwill payment" without admission of liability.
