JD Salinger Has Awful Taste In MoviesFamed author reviews Indiana Jones This isn't strictly news, but you might find it rather amusing. Reader Adam Newell just emailed us to let us know that there's a letter written by the author JD Salinger being auctioned on ebay. Now, Salinger wrote some fine works ? Catcher In The Rye, particularly, remains required reading for anyone in their late teenage years ? but the man is clearly less reliable when it comes to judging movies. In the letter, written to his lover Janet Eagleson, Salinger says:"I got hooked into seeing Raiders of the Lost Ark, which might be excused for its unwitty, unfunny awful socko-ness if it had been put together by Harvard Lampoon seniors"Well, la-di-dah. You can see the full note here. You can even buy it if you've got a couple of thousand dollars sitting in your pocket. Also in Things We Learned Today: JD Salinger isn't dead.Source: EmpireOnline

CHICAGO ? As a contemporary of the John Lennon assassination in 1980 and an ardent admirer of the late Beatle, I had a hard time figuring out the reasons for making the film ?Chapter 27?. Over the years, it has been difficult if not impossible to forgive Mark David Chapman for his wasteful act of murdering Lennon. Read Patrick McDonald?s full review of ?Chapter 27? in our reviews section.View our full, high-resolution ?Chapter 27? image gallery. Chapman is portrayed by Jared Leto. The film begins with the journey from his home in Hawaii to New York City. He?s there because he harbors a delusion that he is John Lennon and the real individual has no business still roaming the Earth. He seems a man without a country or a functioning brain cell. He sets himself up outside The Dakota, which is a famously...

"I keep picturing all these little kids playing some game in this big field of rye and all? I'm standing on the edge of some crazy cliff. What I have to do, I have to catch everybody if they start to go over the cliff - I mean if they're running and they don't look where they're going I have to come out from somewhere and catch them. That's all I do all day. I'd just be the catcher in the rye." jd salinger
