Wisdom and Samadhi - a two way process Ven. Acariya Nanasampanna Thera Daily News A person, who wants to train his heart to become skilful and to know what is behind the deluded tricks of the defilements (kilesas), must not be attached to study and learning in Buddhism to such an extent that it gives rise to the defilements. But also he must not abandon study and learning, for to do this goes beyond the teaching of the Buddha. Both these ways are contrary to the purpose which the Buddha desired that one should aim at. Meditation ************************** In other words, when one is practising meditation for the purpose of developing Samadhi, do not let the Citta (mind) grasp at what it has learnt by study, for it will be led into thoughts of the past and future. Wisdom and Samadhi - two way process Daily NewsVen. Acariya Nanasampanna Thera Detached like a rain-drop on a leaf A person, who wants to train his heart to become skilful and to know what is behind the deluded tricks of the defilements (kilesas), must not be attached to study and learning in Buddhism to such an extent that it gives rise to the defilements. But also he must not abandon study and learning, for to do this goes beyond the teaching of the Lord. Both these ways are contrary to the purpose which the Buddha desired that one should aim at. In other words, when one is practising meditation for the purpose of developing Samadhi, do not let the Citta grasp at what it has learnt by study, for it will be led into thoughts of the past and future. One must instead make the Citta keep to the present, which means that just that aspect of Dhamma which one is developing must be one?s only concern. When there i...
Meditative Quranic verse | the Greater Death, MahaSamadhi
2007-10-18 22:51:00
Wa la taqooloo liman yuqtalu fee sabeeli Allahi amwatun bal ahyaon wa lakin la tashAAuroona. transliterationAnd do not call those who die in God (MahaSamadhi) as "dead", no! they are living in their soul's merging with God; only you perceive not. (The Quran 2:154)Translated on the esoteric level of meaning. The Final Testament, Quran has many levels of meanings and on broad generalization namely two: external or literal and internal or mystical (sufistic) or that of ma'rifa (gnosis). This particular verse is a good example why literal translation of Quranic verses are not the only way to approach the Quran.First of all, in general translation and explanation (tafsir or exegeses) of this verse, the death referred as: yuqtalu fee sabeeli Allahi, is translated as that of death in lesser Jihad (some even translated as those who are slain). But this poor translation is not fitting to the weight of this verse. Here is an explanation why literal translation of Quranic verses without probin...

Shirdi - Sai BabaSamadhi Mandir :The Mandir is built with stones and Baba's Samadhi is built with white marble stones. A railing is built in marble around the Samadhi and is full of ornamental decorations. In front of the Samadhi are two silver pillars full of decorative designs. Just behind the Samadhi is Sai Baba's marvelous statue made of Italian marble which shows him seated on a throne. This idol was made by late Balaji Vasant. This statue was installed on 7th October 1954. Above the statue is an open, silver umbrella. The front of the Mandir has an assembly hall where about 600 devotees can be accomadated. Here is the show-case where various things handled by Baba are kept. On the first floor of the Mandir are pictures depicting the life of Baba. The routine of the temple starts at 5 o'clock in the morning with Bhoopali, a morning song, and closes at 10 o'clock in the night after Shejarati is sung. Only on three occasions the temple is kept open overnight .ie. on Gurupoornim...

shirdi samadhi mandhir picture 2Characteristic of Shirdi Pilgrimage One special peculiarity of Shirdi-pilgrimage was this, that none could leave Shirdi, without Baba's permission; and if he did, he invited untold sufferings, but if any one was asked to quit Shirdi, he could stay there no longer. Baba gave certain suggestions or hints, when Bhaktas went to bid good-bye and take leave. These suggestions had to be followed. If they were not followed or were departed from, accidents were sure to befall them, who acted contrary to Baba's directions. We give below a few instances.www.starsai.com/

shirdi samadhi mandhir picture Motherly Love of Sai Baba Everybody knows how a cow loves her infant calf. Her udder is always full and when the calf wants milk and dashes at the udder, out comes the milk in an unceasing flow. Similarly a human mother knows the wants of her child and feeds it, at her breast in time. In case of dressing and adorning the child, the mother takes particular care to see that this is well done. The child knows or cares nothing about this, but the mother?s joy knows no bounds, when she sees her child beautifully dressed and adorned. The love of mother is peculiar, extraordinary and disinterested, and has no parallel. Sadgurus feel this motherly love towards their disciples. Sai Baba had this same love towards me.http://www.starsai.com/

They were quite ignorant, but their pure love inspired them to compose poems or songs in their simple rural language. Letters or learning they had none, still one can discern real poetry in their simple songs.www.starsai.com
Samadhi and Self Realisation Final State of Yoga
2007-08-26 06:52:00
The eighth and final stage of Yoga is Samadhi. At this stage, one’s identity becomes both externally and internally immersed in meditation. The meditator, the act of meditation, and the object meditated upon, all the three shed their individual characteristics and merge with one single vision of the entire cosmos. Supreme happiness, free from pleasure, pain or misery, is experienced. Samadhi is the climax of Dhyana. The group of Dharana, Dhyana and Samadhi is called ‘Samyama’ (the Internal Yoga) in the Science of Yoga. The first five stages-Yama, Niyama, Asana, Pranayama and Pratyahara-constitute the External Yoga. If all these eight stages are practiced and followed in life, virtues like morality, morally sound conduct and good character are developed in man. Besides, there is an all-round progress in human life, physically, intellectually and spiritually and man attains physical fitness and mental equanimity. Thus, asanas are only one of the stages of Yoga. Most of the aspiran...
