I just showed three homes near the very popular Santana Row and Valley Fair neighborhoods under $600,000 and they are very attractive. It amazes me how reasonable the market has become in an area that is historically well sought-after. 2240 Woodland Avenue as an example is a three bedroom, 1 bath, single family home on a 6,500 square foot lot for $585,000. This is a neighborhood that has a great elementary school and is convenient to everything in the valley. Definitely this value gives pause to the thought of buying a 1 bedroom with den loft in Santana Row. Let me know if you are interested in seeing what I am seeing in this great market.

Earlier this morning, MLBTR noted how Ken Rosenthal doesn't think the Yankees have regrets over not landing Johan Santana despite their would-have-been trade pieces now struggling or injured.  Today's Boston Globe discusses the Red Sox similar feelings. Chad Finn not only brings us an amusing baseball card of a young Lou Pineilla, but also shares his relief that Boston did not give up Jacoby Ellsbury, Jon Lester, Justin Masterson, and/or Jed Lowrie for Johan (consequently setting the record for a trade involving the most players with first names beginning with the letter "J"). The Angels signed him, preventing the meeting. As we enter June, the sky is falling in Seattle... Rosenthal doesn't think there's a lot of regret in the Yankee organization for not acquiring Johan Santana.  One executive notes Santana's throwing with increased effort this season yet without increased results. The votes are in, and many of you think Ervin Santana and Edinson Volquez have a realistic chance to continue pitching effectively. Cliff Lee and Scott Olsen -- not so much. Interestingly, since this poll went up, Santana, Lee and Olsen have all pitched a bad game or two, so maybe those three are already reverting to their norms. By the way, I agreed with the majority and voted for Santana. He has proven in seasons past that he could be an effective pitcher in the majors. Most of us just forget that after his awful '07 campaign. Lee and Olsen both have that April/May fluke smell about them, and it grows stronger by the start.
