2008-06-04 06:22:00 Any hope that Scion would be revealing the next iteration of the tC, or a clean-sheet sports coupe with which to replace it, were dashed this afternoon in New York when the wraps were pulled off the Hako Coupe Concept. The Hako is essentially a Scion xB that's lost a couple of doors and gained a massive schnoz, a seriously upright windshield and some highly stylized accents. Scion's PR people insist that the coupe's design is inspired by the "emergence of American vintage style among young Tokyo trendsetters," which may be true, but Scion's veep, Jack Hollis' remark that the Hako "is the sporty version of a box." Oxymoronic? We think so.As with most of Scion's concepts, the Hako is a combination of form and functionality, with an emphasis on living the Scion life that the brand has fought hard to establish. Toyota's funky youth brand announced on Friday the launch of its Limited Edition xD Release Series 1.0. It might only be May, but the release of the limited-edition xD already marks the third limited-edition Scion for 2008. The 2008 xD RS 1.0 features Hot Lava exterior paint, a DAMD body kit, rear spoiler, unique wheel covers and a TRD lowering kit. The car's Hot Lave paint scheme continues inside, with Hot Lava accented seats and interior trim. A RAZO shift knob is also part of the package. 2008-02-02 03:35:00 Scion to launch tC Release Series 4.0 at Chicago show Scion has announced that it will launch its tC Release Series 4.0 model at next week's Chicago Auto Show. The new trim line will be based on the Scion tC, but will feature enhanced visuals both inside and out. The RS 4.0 model will add a DAMD body kit and upper front grille, with a color-keyed rear spoiler optional. All RS 4.0 models will be painted in Galactic Gray Mica. The interior of the RS 4.0 will sport gray and black Alcantara seats — with "tC RS 4.0" embroidered on the front and rear seats — a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a black leather and dark wood RAZO shift knob. The tC's interior will also wear special badging. Only 2,300 examples of the tC RS 4.0 will be produce, with the package adding $2,770 to the price of a regular tC. The optional spoiler will add another $285 to the tC's $17,000 base price.
