31 Cent Scoop Night
2009-04-29 15:10:00 In my never-ending quest to help you find cheap or free food, I am happy to announce that today (Wednesday) is 31 cent scoop night at Baskin-Robbins. Small scoops* are available from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. at participating Baskin-Robbins locations. In honor of 31 cent scoop night, Baskin-Robbins will donate $100,000 to the National Volunteer Fire Council (NVFC) National Junior Firefighter Program. From past experiences, I recommend arriving around 9 since you will have to wait at least 30 minutes between approximately 6:00 and 8:30. 31-cent ice cream is a good deal, but it's not worth waiting that long.* 2.5 oz. scoops (or 3 oz. Soft Serve cones) are 31 cents plus tax where applicable. Limit 3 scoops per person. Sorry that I have nothing funny to add to this note.

The Scoop With SLC Dunk!
2009-03-26 14:19:00 This week we got a chance to talk to the guy behind SLC Dunk. If you need a top notch Jazz blog, this is where you have to go.1. The Jazz are playing well of late, 13 straight home wins, how would you assess their recent play? With the exception of that three-game slide earlier this month, I couldn't be happier with the Jazz's play. Even then they could have should have won the games against Miami and Atlanta. They played great on the road and just squandered things late. With everyone healthy, everyone is finally seeing how the deep Utah bench will beat most teams. 2. While they've done well at home (only six home losses), they are a below average road team. What is the big difference on the road and how can they fix that problem? If I had an answer for this, I'd probably have a job sitting next to Sloan on the bench. It's really hard to explain why we can't even break .500 on the road. I think a lot of it though is losing games like the ones mentioned above that you shou...

The Scoop With Ryen!
2009-02-13 15:44:00 So, it's Scoop time! This week we've got Ryen, the man behind Welcome to Loud City, a tremendous Thunder blog you should read.1. So going into the All-Star break the Thunder are 4-6 in their last 10 games. How do you think they've played over that stretch? It’s a big of a mixed bag to be honest, however, there is no question this team is playing tremendously better now than in their 3-29 start. There are some really solid wins in that group as well as disappointing losses. It seems like the losses always stand out in our heads more than wins do, so I’ll get to that first. The biggest disappointment was the first game of this 10 game stretch against the LA Clippers. The Clippers came into that game, I think, with 8 players dressed, and one of those got hurt in the first four minutes of the game. Going up against another of the league’s worst teams, especially when they had a roster that was decimated due to injuries, you expect the team to take care of business, even on the r...

The Scoop With Sam Amico!
2009-02-05 23:12:00 Each week we talk to someone who's doing his thing covering this game we love! This week we have Sam Amico, editor of ProBasketballNews, a great site to go to for analysis and news.1. So which team would you say is playing the best ball right now?I think overall, my answer would have to be Cleveland. They have only had one "bad" loss (at Washington) and the type of superstar in LeBron James that can carry them to a title. They are very, very good and get little-to-no credit.2. The injury bug seems to really around right now. Of all the teams with big injuries, which team needs the most help at a certain spot (eliminating the Magic's point guard spot, we know that's bad)? The Raptors could use some help at forward, considering you never know the status of Jermaine O'Neal. Also, Chris Bosh has been banged up for most of the season. They could also use a backup point guard. Even though Jose Calderson is playing, he's been playing hurt.3. You have made the case for Mo Williams to be...
The Scoop With Ben's Suns Blog!
2009-01-29 22:24:00 This week on the Scoop, we're talking Suns and we've got one of the best to answer all my Suns related questions. The man behind Ben's Suns Blog, a blog that seems to be gaining lots of momentum. If you haven't checked it yet, here is where to get your Suns fix. Our thanks to Ben for taking the time!NBAtipoff: How would you assess the Suns recent play, they've gone 5-5 in the last 10 games. Ben: In a word - mediocre; and we're lucky that we went .500 in that stretch. It'd be easy for me to place the blame on the road trip and playing in 6 different cities in 9 days, but our problem really has been intensity and turnovers. Our defense is based on effort and energy - both of which the Suns didn't have in the past several games. However, to be in 7th place after our showing's against Boston, New York, and Charlotte is something to be thankful for. It seems that every time we take a step forward, we take two steps back. By that, I mean that we seemingly begin to find...
The Scoop With Kellex!
2009-01-20 23:46:00 Every week we're going to talk to someone who looks at a certain field that relates to basketball. This week, Kellex Barr from Blaze of Love and The Sports Dollar was kind enough to be the first victim!NBAtipoff: Thanks for joining us on the first edition of Scoop feature. Could you talk to us about the Blazers recent play, tell us things you've liked and didn't like.Kellex: Their play has definitely been sporadic and not in a good way. Inconsistent play on the offensive end from Roy and Aldridge have led to some disappointing losses to subpar teams. On a positive note though, Greg Oden had his first monster game as a professional and gave everyone a glimpse at what the future could hold. Let's just hope he can stay loose and build on it.NBAtipoff: The Blazers offense hasn't looked as fluid recently without starting point guard Steve Blake. Since the team doesn't have a pure point without him, what's the best way Nate McMillan can keep the ball moving?Kellex: Well, when y...

Brendan Fehr, who we had the opportunity to interview at Friday’s 2008 Gemini Awards (Canada’s Emmy equivalent) assures us that Jared will be back to wreck havoc on television’s favorite sometimes platonic investigative duo.

2008-05-26 08:17:00 From the article: “At privately owned Chrysler, Nardelli no longer has to concern himself with annual meetings or public shareholders, and he can make hard decisions quickly. ?As the first major automaker to be privately operated in more than 50 years, we have an ideal structure for the work we have to do,? he says via email while traveling in Asia. Before Cerberus bought 80.1 percent of Chrysler last summer, Chrysler had spent a disastrous decade as a division of Germany?s Daimler, which retains the other 19.9 percent. But Nardelli has moved fast?scaling back production, eliminating 10,000 jobs (on top of 13,000 layoffs before he showed up), and killing such slow-selling models as the Dodge Magnum and the Chrysler Crossfire, Pacifica, and PT Cruiser convertible. ?We took 100,000 units out of our fourth-quarter production, and we did it in a seven-minute phone call,? says Jim Press, vice chairman and president. “ Of course, Nardelli?s take-no-prisoners attitude will inva...
