2008-04-18 15:57:00
Reaction to the ABC News presidential debate breaks along ideological lines. Repubs gave high marks; Dems not so much. Charlie Gibson (in the same suit he wore at the debate), tackled the post-debate mortem on air last night: Howard Kurtz Wash Post: On Gibson's "World News" last night, ABC said "thousands of angry viewers" had posted comments on its Web site, one complaining of "shoddy journalism" and another saying "Shame on you, Charlie and George. We deserve better." After it was reported Stephanopoulos asked the William Ayers question at the behest of Sean Hannity who has been beating the Ayers/Obama connection to death on "H&C", Stephanopoulos covered his ass claiming he had been "following" the William Ayers issue "since February." "What finally tipped the balance on whether to ask it or not was that as far as we could tell, Obama had never answered the question." Obama accuses ABC of playing "gotcha games." NYP Buried in the blitzkrieg: ABC hit a high note with 10....

Come on no serious journalist would take a question from Sean “the weapons of mass destruction have been moved to Syria” Hannity. Would they? ABC sinks to new low in debate, but record won?t stand for long
2008-04-17 21:18:00
I missed last night’s “debate” between Democratic candidates Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. From what I can tell this morning, that was the smartest thing I did all day. I’ve read a good bit about it and seen some video and it looks like what transpired in Philadelphia may have been a new low-water mark in American journalism. Let’s see what people are saying. We’ll start at Crooks & Liars, which has video of the debacle. Next let’s check in at the ABC “News” Web site, where the network’s viewers are still engaging in one of the bloodiest nard-stompings I’ve ever seen. Nearly 16,000 comments as I write, and the consensus is not a happy one. SenateGuru explains why G-Steph should be embarrassed. Yes, Charlie, the crowd is turning on you. Because you’re a joke. Jack & Jill Politics called it a “freak show,” a “disgrace” and “a great disservice to the American people a...

2008-04-17 05:10:00
After watching that ABC News presidential debate moderated by Charlie Gibson and George Stephanopoulos, I am reminded by a famous quip from a famous Chicago ink-stained wretch.Mike Royko. Now off the planet. The Pulitzer Prize-winning columnist left the Chicago Sun-Times for the Tribune after it was sold to Rupert Murdoch with the parting shot: "No self-respecting fish would be wrapped in a Murdoch paper." No self-respecting person would wrap themselves in the plethora of Praying Mantis political analysis following what appeared to be a debate wrapped in a Murdoch paper. It was like the National Enquirer dug up all the UFO reporters. Executive summary: Hillary admits Obama can beat McCain but "I can do a better job." Obama: "I am the better candidate but she can win." Obama's fresh garbage stinks more than Hillary's rotting scandals. This after Charlie to Obama on the "bitter" question: "Don't you think some people find it patronizing?"Obama: "Not the first time I've manged up a...
Daily Show Documentary on ?Fair and Balanced News Channel?
2008-04-12 09:05:00
You may have thought over the past 7 years that the Fox News channel was an extension of the Bush administration. According to The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, Fox News has now been around for 12 wonderful years. On Thursday night John Oliver of The Daily Show began a two part documentary on the Fox News channel showing just how ?fair and balanced? they actually have been. The parts of the piece only total about 10 minutes but it is all that is needed to show the different types of coverage that is given to two different administrations. When it came to executive privilege, journalists for Fox News wanted it limited during the Clinton administration and expanded during the Bush administration. Clinton?s matter was a personal and sexual matter, yet the journalists at Fox News felt that Clinton should have to testify by order of Republicans in congress. Bill O?Reilly for example, was outraged when Democrats wanted Bush?s advisors to testify before congress ove...

2008-03-25 16:50:00
I guess there’s probably nothing Earth-shattering about revelations that FOX News “journalist” Sean Hannity was BFFs with a white supremacist. I mean, even if you don’t expect it, it’s not the sort of information that’s going to turn your whole worldview upside-down, you know? But the latest screed from Pat Buchanan almost buckles the knees. We don’t exactly look to Pat for enlightened thinking on race or, well, on anything. But even by his standards these March 21 comments are barely to be believed. Barack says we need to have a conversation about race in America. Fair enough. But this time, it has to be a two-way conversation. White America needs to be heard from, not just lectured to. This time, the Silent Majority needs to have its convictions, grievances and demands heard. And among them are these: First, America has been the best country on earth for black folks. It was here that 600,000 black people, brought from Africa in slave ships...
Conservative Pundits Just Don?t Understand Conservatism
2008-03-07 09:50:00
Senator John McCain has an uphill battle to climb now that he has become the nominee of the Republican Party. Conservative Republicans are torn over the idea of having McCain as the head of their party. There are many conservatives that dislike John McCain so much that they have said they will vote for the Democratic nominee. What is it that Senator McCain has done to agitate conservatives so much? First of all there is immigration. McCain has pushed for immigration reform while in the Senate which included some forms of ?amnesty? and did not have enough border protection for conservatives. McCain worked hand and hand on this bill with Senator Ted Kennedy who is seen as one of the most liberal senators in Washington. Second of all, McCain opposes torture and the practice of waterboarding. Waterboarding is used to simulate drowning and is used to solicit information from suspects during interrogations. As a former prisoner of war, McCain opposes such abuses as ...

Conservatives may be "crazies" so sayeth a young chick "political analyst" on this a.m.'s CBS Early Show (NewsBusters) but it's still a given liberals can't touch them on talk radio. Conservative talk radio hosts once again dominate Talkers Heavy 100 #1 Rush, #2 Hannity, #3 Michael Savage, #4 the annoying hypocrite Dr. "Whora", #5 Glenn Beck, #6 Laura Ingraham"Don Ho" Imus is back on the block at #7. #8 Ed Shultz, #9 Mike Gallagher, #10 Neal Boortz, #11 Bill O'Reilly. There is a smattering of liberals (Alan Colmes #16). Talkers pub Michael Harrison tells Christian CNS News: "I think Rush Limbaugh could remain number one as long as he chooses to be in radio. He's in a class of his own."Courage and uniqueness were two of the criteria.
Washington GOP Primary Scandal

Mike Huckabee complained today that the Republican primary in Washington was called too soon. During the interview, Huckabee said that the Washington GOP chairman, Luke Esser, was originally ...

Ann Coulter would vote for Hillary Clinton? Makes sense to me
2008-02-02 02:15:00
Ann Coulter was on Hannity & The Other Guy last night and said she prefers Hillary Clinton over John McCain. Wait, what? Yes, you heard it right. Check out the vid, which I was made aware of via DownWithTyranny!, props. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-HuTqgqhxVMc Shocked? Puhleez. Why wouldn’t Ann campaign for Hillary? If Clinton’s elected, it means at least four more years of food on the table for the silence-challenged Coulter. All the right-wingers want Clinton in office. It’s their fervent dream. The conservative Mouth of Sauron, Bill Bennett, practically blew kisses to Hillary after the debate last night (emphasis on race-baiting garbage mine): It was a — frankly, it was a — I think, a little disappointing, from my perspective. I think Barack Obama had to do more than he did. I thought she won — I will just be crude and say I thought she won the debate. I thought she was in control. He said — he used the locution, “we b...

(Updated) Well, it doesn't take too much listening to figure this all out. Conservative talk radio is doing everything they can to educate and inform voters that Mitt Romney is the "real deal" (Sean Hannity this week). Glenn Beck a super great fan, of course. Today Sean Hannity said it straight, but he has been a wonderfully supportive and rallying force behind Gov. Romney for several weeks and months. Here is his official support, as of today: Rush has been very kind and started the Smitten Mitten "title" a couple weeks ago when a few very proud, pro-Romney women called in. It was actually pretty sweet as he could barely conceal a smidge of jealousy over the swooning Romney gals. I assure him that we love him too - and it's not so much his hair, but the voice that we really go for with him ;o) Tonight we listened to Michael Savage who was uncharacteristically calm but ever so eloquent and on point. He had only positive things to say for Gov. Romney, including that he is a...

Sean Hannity Is Voting For Mitt Romney
2008-02-01 03:00:00
IN CASE YOU MISSED IT: ANOTHER CONSERVATIVE VOTE FOR GOVERNOR ROMNEY Sean Hannity:  "I'll tell you right now, and I've not announced this, but I will be voting for Mitt Romney in this campaign. It's the first time I've stated it publicly.  I'll state it now."  ("Sean Hannity Radio Show," 1/31/08) I'd also like to say that a couple days ago, an Evangelical called Sean up with flaming Mormon Derangement Syndrome dripping in her voice. Se sounded like someone who was left having to clean up dog vomit. She was a Huckabee supporter ready to consider Romney. She hinted and evaded around her COMPLETE HATRED AND FEAR OF A MORMON and asked Sean if he was okay to vote for. Sean reminded her that he had spent a lot of time with Governor Romney and his family and was convinced he was a great guy and the "real deal". Thank you Sean. Spirited Republican Debate on Fox in South Carolina Tonight: Fred Thompson
2008-01-11 07:10:00
A crisp, spirited Republican debate in South Carolina earlier tonight - one of the best so far, as good the Republican debate on ABC on Saturday - and Fox included Ron Paul, which it didn't do on Sunday.Fred Thompson was the best he's been so far, responding with a sharp mix of passion, clarity, and humor. He took Mike Huckabee to task for being a Democrat in Republican clothing. Even though I agree with Huckabee's "Democratic" positions about education, etc., I had to admire Thompson's performance.Huckabee, for his part, however, was also excellent. He came through again as likable and sincere, as well as vivid and saber-rattling in his response to the Iranian gunboat incident - warning Iranians and anyone that if they attack American boats, the next thing they'll be seeing are the gates of hell. (Thompson got in a good line about the Iranians being close to seeing the virgins they think await their heroes in the afterlife.) Again, I don't agree at all with this jingoism...

Ron Paul Excluded from Fox News Debate- Supporters Confront Sean Hannity
2008-01-08 08:18:00
Ron Paul supporters upset over the exclusivity of the Fox News Republican Debate in New Hampshire chased down Sean Hannity in New Hampshire. The incident was filmed and put on YouTube where you can see supporters chasing Hannity as they shout at him and mock Fox News. Paul supporters have every right to be upset over the exclusion of their candidate from the debate last week. Paul finished fifth in Iowa with 10 percent of the vote, beating Rudy Giuliani. Giuliani had a miserable 4 percent yet he was one of the five candidates included by Fox News in the debate. Fred Thompson, John McCain, Mitt Romney, and Mike Huckabee were also invited to participate. Paul has also raised nearly $20 million dollars over the last 3 months from his huge network of staunch supporters. Fox News cannot claim that fundraising minimums were involved in this decision. The New Hampshire GOP removed their sponsorship from the debate after Paul was not included. Paul?s suppor...

The Heartbreak Yid
2007-12-18 15:02:00
Has-been actor Charles Grodin, 72, is barely recognizable with all that plastic surgery. Grodin goes on Fox's Hannity & Colmes last night and right out of the gate tells Alan Colmes ("you look like a half-million bucks.") he should be wearing "eyeliner." It's called "guyliner," Charles. The seemingly coked-up former CNBC talk show host alternated between crossed arms and waving hands. "Is that a hairpiece?" he queries Hannity and pulls his rug. "Are you Jewish?" [Grodin's Jewish.]Grodin and Hannity going at it over left wingers with Grodin saying "I didn't say you were a Nazi. I said your cohost is a Nazi." Alan is Jewish. Grodin was on plugging a book on celebrities learning from mistakes. Obviously Grodin hasn't gotten the memo. Inside Cable News video via Johnny Dollar's Place. If you can stand it the New York Observer has a recent Grodin profile. I thought I was going to have a heart attack after more than nine minutes of Grodin's frenetic shtick.
Idiot of the day: Sean Hannity
2007-11-02 19:34:00
By VictorM: If I had the time and the tolerance, I'm sure I could do an "Idiot of the Day" post every day with quotes from Sean Hannity, but my stomach is not that strong, so I'll settle for this piece from Media Matters:On the October 31 edition of Fox News' Hannity & Colmes, co-host Sean Hannity claimed that "Halloween is a liberal holiday" and "is teaching our kids to be liberals." Hannity explained that "we're teaching kids to knock on other people's doors and ask for a handout." Co-host Alan Colmes responded by asking if that meant that Christmas is a "liberal holiday." Colmes asserted that Halloween represents "the act of giving," and asked: "Isn't that a Christian thing, to give, to share with your community?" Hannity replied: "Not to teach your kids to beg for a handout."He was serious. Really. You can watch the clip yourself by following the Media Matters link.

Hannity & Colmes Split Over Ron Paul's 1st Place in FOX 's Latest Post-Deba
2007-10-22 08:11:00
Well, the universe is finally a lot more as it should be. You may recall that after the last Republican Presidential debate on Fox, Hannity and Colmes - who disagree about just about everything - were as one in their certainty that Ron Paul's first place finish in Fox's after-debate phone-in text poll was some kind of fix - multiple dialing by the same people, to be exact, even though Fox had wisely made that option not possible.Hannity was up to his same tricks tonight - braying that Ron Paul's first place finish was "stacked". Whereas Colmes, to his credit, calmly said he was reporting the results. As was the case last time, Hannity didn't bother to offer any evidence. You can see this all in the YouTube clip that follows. Also sweet about this is the way Hannity has the gall to complain to Ron Paul that Hannity gets booed by Ron Paul supporters when Hannity gives speeches.Booed? Hannity should count his lucky stars that he continues to have a microphone. I certainly ...

2007-09-21 06:50:00
"Anyone listening to John Kerry should be tasered" - that "joke" from a former homicide detective, one Rod Wheeler, who Fox News chose to have as a guest on Hannity and Colmes tonight.Wheeler said a lot more - that Andrew Meyer clearly deserved to be tasered, that he was clearly threatening the police who were escorting him away from the microphone - even though the videos of the event clearly show otherwise. But Wheeler is entitled to his erroneous opinion of what happened. He's of course also entitled to his misguided sense of humor. I guess we should at least be happy that someone with his values is a former rather than a current homicide detective. But where was Sean Hannity's outrage or even disagreement with his guest for taking such a tasteless shot at John Kerry's supporters, at a time in which tasering and politics and freedom of speech have become sadly intertwined? Now, more than ever, we need candidates like Ron Paul who respect both the First Amendment and the necessar...

"Green" Al Gore Flys Private Jet According To Sean Hannity
2007-09-07 16:18:00
THE AL GORE REPORT: Fox News host, and noted Sean Hannity enthusiast, Sean Hannity, is reporting that on this upcoming Sunday addition of "Hannity's America",  the conservative counter part to Alan Colmes will reveal exclusive futage of Vice President Al Gore departing from a private Jet. Conservatives have often attacked Gore on his position on global warming, whether by questioning his evidence, or pointing out his own lack of adherence to his "green" advice. The most note worthy of such attacks, of course, was the revelation  earlier this year that the Gore house hold consumes more energy than some small countries. (or something like that) The gist of this latest attack, which is still unfolding, is that Gore is currently up for a Nobel Prize for his tireless efforts to save the world from fossil fuels. Now that it is evident that the man still travels in private jets the allegation becomes, "what a hypocrite again." Fox News has not c...

2007-09-06 05:54:00
So now Fox News' - via Hannity and Colmes - joins ABC News in denigrating the results of its own post-debate polls. As of about 30 minutes ago, Ron Paul was in first place with 33% percent of respondents who said he won tonight's Republican Presidential debate in New Hampshire, broadcast on Fox News, with Rudy Giuliani in second place with 16% (in the final results, Mike Huckabee moved into second place, with 18% of respondents who said he won).Commented Hannity and Colmes on Ron Paul's victory in the Fox News poll: Ron Paul supporters were busy dialing in multiple times.Interestingly, Ron Paul's exchange with Mike Hucbabee was the most replayed segment of the debate, was indeed its high point. Ron Paul went after Huckabee's - and all the other Republicans' - position that everyone should get behind the US war effort in Iraq. We have no valid business being there, Ron Paul emphasized, fighting in a war that was started on the basis on false information, and in defiance of...

Well today on Hannity's radio show he has decided that its going to destroy our children if we allow horror movies to be in theaters. He has decided that because he doesn't like the movies that no one should be allowed to see them. He has also said if you seen Saw III that you are sadistic and have things wrong with you and you belong in prison. Just like the Republicans they only want you to see and hear what they want you too. Its a sad day when any American tries to take our freedom away. Its sad that the RightWings religious beliefs have to be forced on the rest of America. Lets play like Hannity and boycott all his advertisers starting with his main one Tempur-Pedic. Anytime there is anything that he doesn't like he makes up boycotts to force his beliefs on the whole world.
