One of the brightest parts of our new golden age of television.This was Michael's show. He has heart, but he's also learned a lot about the way of killing. He had good instructors in the bloody craft. Chris Partlow and Snoop. You wouldn't want to run into them angry at you, or on some business concerning you, in any alley. For that matter, you wouldn't want to run into them if they were looking for you on any grand boulevard in broad daylight.I don't know who has been more deadly- yeah, I do, it would be Snoop. Live by the sword, die by the sword, and all of that.I have to admit that, although I first felt really bad about Omar getting killed, I felt a little less bad when I recalled that Omar killed Stringer, still my favorite all-time character on The Wire, played to the hilt by Idris Elba.It took two grown men, two fiercesome, stone killers, to kill Stringer - Omar and Brother Mouzone.It took just a boy to kill Omar. A boy with a gun. Says something about the power of a gun, doesn't it.The scene, and what happened after, was so powerful, it's hard to talk about anything else in this brilliant episode.But there were some good developments. Omar survives with just a badly hurt leg ... and then after wincing in pain even becomes fairly mobile again, and metes out some more damage to his enemies.That's a pretty tall story - leaping from a many-storied window and walking away from it. Marlo looks up at that window, and can't believe it.I've got to say I'm with Marlo. But maybe there's more to this story yet to be revealed, more to the story of surviving a jump from so many stories than meets the eye... (Not that I mind seeing more of Michael K. Williams' fine performance as Omar.)I gotta say, too, that I'm liking Marlo more, even though I wasn't thrilled to see what he did to Prop Joe. But it's good to see him stand up to the combine, and entirely consistent that he has no patience with sitting around a table and talking. And if some of those people have figured out what Marlo did to Prop Joe - well ... the stakes are getting more dangerous...

A real standalone gem on The Wire tonight - which I predict will become a classic, almost Hitchcockian hour-long morality play of media chasing their own tales/tails...The medium in question, of course, is the Baltimore Sun, under fire both from staff reductions and from McNulty, who is trying to feed it his concocted story about a Baltimore serial killer - as a way getting some police funding to bring down Marlo and crew.Gus Haynes (great continuing performance by Clark Johnson) is doing his best to keep the Sun running, but the pressure to perform gets rookie reporter Scott Templeton (well played by Tom McCarthy) to do something daring and devious: he pretends to get a call, on a public phone, from the serial killer - the one who doesn't really exist, the one being created out of almost thin air by McNulty. Aqua Teen Hunger Force is one of my all-time favorite TV shows. The adventures of Frylock, Master Shake, and Meatwad are a seemingly never ending source of comic delight. The Aqua Teens are often joined by their furry neighbor Carl Brutananadilewski. Carl has had episodes revolving largely around him in previous seasons but season five has started off with two episodes featuring Carl as the only main character. It seems that the Aqua Teens have been sent to be cocooned by evil spiders by their (and Carl's) landlord Marcula because they complained too much about a gas leak in their house and now Carl has been trying to shop the empty house.I can't say I don't miss the Aqua Teens and I do think they are funnier and more interesting than Carl alone (but it is three characters opposed to one, not really a fair comparison) and would like to see them return in the future.
