The stunning images of the Burmese peoples? popular uprising flowing to the rest of the world through the internet (before the military regime started blocking information) brings to mind the passages of a book I read earlier this month. When I started reading Seeing, I commented that Jose Saramago?s plot, where disillusioned voters from the fictional ...

L'ho scoperto tempo fa e l'ho riscoperto ieri sera. C'è una canzone che fotografa benissimo un po' tutto il periodo che va da febbraio 2006 e perdura ancora adesso. Poi abbraccia anche una serie di coincidenze della mia vita che alle volte noto e mi fanno sorridere. La canzone sarebbe Why does it always rain on me?, dei Travis.
Britney Spears rather seeing the devil than her mom!!
2007-05-16 16:16:00
Britney Spears’ relationship with her mother has turned toxic. The singer, who once was so close to Lynne Spears that she co-wrote a book with her and gushed that her mom was her best friend, is so furious with the woman that she refused to visit her in the hospital on Mother’s Day, according to several reports. “Britney has cut off all communication with her mom,” a “friend” of the 25-year-old singer told the National Enquirer. “She’s gone from calling Lynne ten times a day to flat-out refusing to speak to her.” Lynne, 52, was hospitalized in southern California recently when a bout of the flu turned into pneumonia. Spears reportedly is furious with her mother for urging the “Oops I Did It Again” singer to enter rehab, and didn’t call her earlier this month for her birthday, either. The Star is reporting a similar story. “Britney says her mom betrayed her and she refuses to get over it,” the source told the Enquirer. “When she was told to give her mom ...

(or fukuoka, japan part two)i visited the canal city complex on friday early evening. it's basically a giant mall but is often referred to as a city within the city. it is apparently one of the "largest composite complexes in all of Asia". it boasts hundreds of stores (including the gap, which i was exstatic about), tons of restaurants, two hotels, a theater, entertainment complex and on and on... it is huge. i went there twice actually and didn't see the whole thing... definitely worth checking out. oh! and the best part was Wendy's!! that's right i had a REAL bacon cheeseburger - it was to die for!!!canal city (or a part of it anyway)it's called canal city because of the canal that runs through it... here children are playing in the water - totally permitted and even encouraged!a nicer shot of the canal with the fountain that was exploding to songs by ABBA... promo for "mamma mia" which was playing at the theater.wendy's in japan - looks like every other wendy's i've ever ...

I'm glad I have a serious matter to report on because I just saw footage of Jessica Simpson and Eva Longoria dancing at PURE in Vegas and neither of those sluts can dance. Damn, at least Eva's an actress and it's not required but Jessica? You're a singer-type, honey. Take some lessons. They looked like they had just gotten out of special class for the day if you know what I mean. Anyway, it's a sad day. David Hasselhoff's videotaped meltdown has led to him being prevented from seeing his kids for the time being . Hasselhoff is allowed to have telephone contact only. On May 21, the judge will hold a hearing on the videotape and how it will affect Hasselhoff's long-term visitation rights. The judge also ordered that Hasselhoff, his ex-wife Pamela Bach-Hasselhoff and their kids meet with a psychologist prior to the May 21st hearing. The psychologist has the power to adjust the judge's order after meeting with the fractured family. Man, what led to all this? Was it the being ...

Britney Seeing Fellow Rehabber Again?
2007-05-01 18:29:00
Britney appears to still be hanging out with singer/songwriter/groupie imprisoner Howie Day again . She met him in rehab. Doesn't she know he holds girls hostage on his tourbus and busts up their cells so they can't call the police? That's probably her speed nowadays, though. Britney was spotted by TMZ on Saturday night at Hollywood nightspot Teddy's, and, as PerezHilton.com reports, she was with Day, whom she met at Promises in Malibu during her month-long stint there. Day, you'll remember, has been arrested more than once for erratic and dangerous behavior on his tour bus and on an airplane -- not the kind of company a rehabbing pop star really needs to keep. He may be kazoo and highly dangerous to the ladies, but I sorta like that song "Collide". I know that makes me a big soppy vagina, but I'll live with it. I like how in the video he's all faux-punky and riding the bus and sad. I am so easily swayed by crap. More photos of Britney Spears leaving the hair salon after th...

2007-04-30 18:35:00
I am remembering a time with Morgan. She was a junior in high school (wow..not that long ago, really). She was taking way too many classes, was working and volunteering. All this means she was way over extended. Stress was the order of the day.And as such, as in all living situations where we feel safe enough to be mean, she was being a major bitch most of the time. One day, I remember being at her bedroom door. For whatever reason, she was having a teen temper tantrum. Immediately I felt my walls go up. I started to engage. Then I looked at my baby. I went inside her to what was underneath the yelling. I flashed on what I feel like when I feel what she was acting out.I breathed, I looked at her and I asked: "Do you need a hug?"Stop. She catches her breath, looks shocked, her eyes burning into mine. I see her body twitch, her face contort as she breaks into sobs. I held her for a long long time until she was done.I wish I could remember the power of seeing deeper in every situation wh...
A Lesson in Seeing Green from AIGA Los Angeles
2007-04-27 23:18:00
I never thought I'd say this, but I wish I lived in Los Angeles. Not because I like big cities, celebrities, or smog, but because the Los Angeles chapter of AIGA, the professional association for design, recently held an event called CO[LA]BORATE: SEEing Green that brought together two of my favorite topics: design and sustainability. CO[LA]BORATE: SEEing Green was held on April 19th, just in time for Earth Day. Although I wasn't there, I got the inside scoop on the event from people who were. Hopefully, events like this one will become more common as awareness of green issues spreads through the graphic design industry. AIGA is encouraging designers to get together on a local level and hold Green Design Salons such as this one, so I'm anxiously awaiting one closer to home. According to AIGA Los Angeles, the event was a great introduction to green design and event organizers certainly practiced what they preached by making the event carbon-neutral: AIGA Los Angeles, t...

Legendary music man Phil Spector unveiled a wispy new hairdo this week in a Los Angeles courtroom, where he is being tried for murder. Iran seeing social problems women refuse to cover up
2007-04-25 13:40:00
Let's hope this starts some changes in Iran. TEHRAN, Iran ? With the arrival of spring, Iranian police have launched a crackdown against women accused of not covering up enough, arresting nearly 300 women, some for wearing too tight an overcoat or letting too much hair peek out from under their veil, authorities said Monday. The campaign in the streets of major cities is the toughest such crackdown in nearly two decades, raising fears that hard-liner President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad intends to re-impose the tough Islamic Revolution-era constraints on women's dress that had loosened in recent years. ... Move beyond seeing black & white
2007-04-20 06:38:00
Narrow-minded people tend to perceive things as clearly black or white, good or bad, acceptable or unacceptable, based on a rigid standard or point of reference.  The ideas of attachment and detachment to what you experience greatly shape who you are and how you see your growth and fulfillment.Ask yourself whether you or anyone you know defines happiness based on what they gain or lose.  Consider whether being too results-oriented may limit your self-view and understanding of the implications of praise or blame. Reflect on whether a lack of desired status or fame necessarily invites feelings of disgrace, low esteem, or lack of self-respect. Learn why you may have conditioned yourself to recognize and devalue opposition in people and things around you. What are the artificial distinctions based on? Who or what happened to generate or reinforce your attitude?Take the example of modern wedding planning. At one end of the spectrum, individuals desire luxury, many guest...
SEEING MALAYSIA FROM ANOTHER VIEW
2007-04-16 09:40:00
The experienced to view Kuala Lumpur from a different angle on one and the only Eye On Malaysia was breathtaking and magnificent. Honestly I wasn't expecting the ride to be much different from any other sightseeing in Kuala Lumpur, but turn out I was totally wrong. Eye on Malaysia is one of a kind event to be brought into Malaysia and the interesting part is that the Eye on Malaysia is the highest Ferris Wheels ever to be built in South East Asia and the largest portable wheel in the world, and the first overhanging a lake. Soaring to incredibly 60 metres height above the tropical waters of Lake Titiwangsa, ?Eye on Malaysia? provides stunning views across Lake Titiwangsa, all the way to the world renowned Petronas Towers and KL Tower. While you were there, be sure to catch the International WaterSky Spectacular of laser lightshows, jet and water ski stunt(absolutely gorgeous). If you haven't been there, I highly recommend you to visit "Eye On Malaysia" while its still in Taman Tas...
Seeing Red

I have never paid so much attention to the colour red, I have outfits in red, however I would not refer to it as my favourite colour, but I quite like it. However I'm starting to get freaked out about the colour, why?! I'll tell you why, every where I go, people are wearing the colour red, 90% of the people I saw today were wearing red, probably as a result of the long awaited arrival of the spring. The new issue of Kitten Magazine also had some pictures titled "Red Red Red".I just don't get it, whats with the sudden rave over Red, let me know if you have an answer, if not am just going to have to keep wandering why?! Drivers seeing red
2007-04-12 11:43:00
Helen Stirk saw red. So did everyone else driving on Interstate 495 North near the Route 110 exit. "I thought it was blood at first -- then I almost slid into the big metal canister that was oozing orange stuff," Stirk said. She was driving home to Lowell from Leominster late Tuesday night, when she became stuck in the mess. A tractor-trailer carrying containers of dye used to color bark mulch lost part of its cargo at about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday after the load shifted.

Yet Another Reason I Should Be Seeing a Therapist
2007-04-11 15:09:00
Not only do I have issues with holding grudges and assertiveness, I also have MAJOR control issues. See, I lurve being in control.I'm incredibly bossy. And I know the right way to do just about everything. Just ask me, I'll tell you. Here's the problem. I'm going to be having a baby, like soon, and there are going to be people in my house. They are going to be here to help. I'm not sure as to how I'm going to relinquish control.Although, I've confessed about my weak housekeeping skills, I am actually quite particular about how my home is organized. Here's just a wee glimmer into my sick mind.I'm very picky about how my laundry is folded. I have a specific way that I like for my T-shirts to be folded because they fit better in my closet when folded correctly. There is a right way for my dish towels to be folded, if they're not they won't fit in the drawer. I hate when other people put my dishes away. Tupperware, pots and pans must be properly nested or they won't fit in the...

Seeing Jesus in All the Books of the Bible
2007-03-28 01:23:00
When you go to the Book of Genesis, look for the Lord Jesus Christ there. The promise is given that the seed of woman shall bruise the serpents head (3:15). Then turn to Exodus and you find that He is the One, and the only One, that can lead a soul out of the land of bondage into the liberty of the sons of God. You study that wonderful Book of Leviticus, those forms and ceremonies, those types and shadows, and they are all an enigma until you get the golden key and find that they all point to the coming of Him who shall fulfill them in His one great sacrifice on the Cross of Calvary. You read the Book of Deuteronomy, and you remember that "the law is our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ." You go on and study the Book of the Kings, and find that all the kings were imperfect and more or less failed, because all were types of the coming of the King of kings, the only perfect Ruler of His people. You read the beautiful Book of the Psalms, and more or less directly they all center in...

Seeing with your brain
2007-03-13 18:08:00
Biological brains can do something that we're still working on building into machines: rewire themselves to take advantage of the best information available. This is a well-known phenomenon, but it's not widely understood just how radically different the rewiring or optimized wiring can be from what is considered 'normal'. Probably the best known example of this kind of neural plasticity is that, if a mammal is born with an eye that is defective or missing, the brain will only develop connections to the good eye. This makes sense because the other one isn't delivering any useful information. The original work showing this was done by Hubel and Wiesel back in the '60s. More recently, Mark Bear and colleagues at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute (MIT) have showed that, in this kind of experiment, the normal eye actually improves in this case: it's not just as good as it would have been without the other eye being defective, it's better. Not only that, but in experiments wh...

Seeing the answers

In a previous post I talked of my research into picture thinking & visualization. This is a very new subject for me and thankfully I received immediate feedback. John Hayes - A helpful hint here. The gray on white text doesn?t have much contrast and is difficult to read. I sell dyslexia glasses at www.dyslexiaglasses.com for visual dyslexics so I may be more vocal than most on the issue. I know your blog host must offer color options so consider a light to medium color for the background and a contrasting print especially if your target audience might be dyslexic. As you say some picture thinkers are dyslexic and some dyslexics are picture thinkers. One does not imply the other. Argey - The spectrum between picture thinkers and linguistic processors is probably continuous. I read and write avidly but when I?m trying to understand something new (to me) or planning a new project, I find images immensely helpful. Words come later when I?ve sorted it all out. I think this is what m...

I was little disappointed by seeing the entry fee ...
2007-03-01 01:24:00
I was little disappointed by seeing the entry fee chart at Five Rathas compound. The entry ticket for an Indian citizen costs Rs 10 and for a foreigner Rs 250. I strongly feel that there should not be any difference between the entry fees. I went to European countries and found no difference in any kind of fees in any of their tourist places. It made me uncomfortable to see those tourists however purchasing the tickets with a higher fee because they came to India to see our historical and cultural richness !Pancha Rathas (means five chariots) were carved during the rule of King Mamalla (Narasimhavarman I, A.D 630 - 670) in 7th century. These Rathas were individually named after Draupadi, Arjuna, Bheema, Dharmaraja and Nakul-Sahadev from the Mahabharata. One archeology site says "the site gives the delightful impression of a city of life-size model buildings, whose variety of roofs, floor plans, and columniation defines a veritable source-book of South Indian temple forms" about t...
Seeing is Unbelieving
2007-02-26 11:49:02
Before you read any further, see if you can guess what this is. I’ll give you a hint besides what it obviously looks like. It’s a periscope. No, it’s not a periscope for the world’s smallest submarine. Nope, it’s not a compact purse-sized periscope for seeing over the ladies sitting in front of you at the ballet. Let’s go back to what it looks like and see if the next clue helps you out. It vibrates. Okay, for those of you that are still scratching your heads, it’s a Pleasure Periscope and you insert it into the vagina or anus so you can look inside. D’oh! Now that you know what it is, will someone please tell me who the hell, besides a gynecologist or proctologist, would want one of these things. For those wacko would-be gynecologists among you that actually do want one, you can order one here.
