I had written before on “Donations”, and after talking on several weblogs about my desicion “NOT” to accept doantions, and after further talk with my wife, and much prayer, It seems that my “pride”, and wanting to do it on my own has come to light. I have preached on being self-supporting at “The Online Church” ...

Politics: CBS fired Gen. Batiste over what? They don?t even seem to know?

As Keith Olbermann first reported on Thursday, Gen. John Batiste?s consulting arrangement with CBS was terminated due to his participation in a VoteVets ad. Akon Jailbait Seems Unsure If She?s Upset About The Incident Or Not
2007-05-12 00:59:00
So the youngster in question has a MySpace page and she's showing off a photo from the night Akon simul-raped her and not exactly sounding as traumatized by the evening as she was made out to be. Now before comment boards go berserk, I realize she's a kid and maybe unclear. I'm just pointing out the news, bitches. Danah Alleyne, or as she call herself on MySpace, "Diva Trixie," claims to be 19 and writes, "I'm a BITCH oh well... ima bitch, ive got class, mess wid me and i'll kick ur ass!!" A 15-year-old searching for her identity probably shouldn't be looking for it in an 18-and-over club, especially at an Akon concert! Danah has posted a picture from the night of the controversial event, and the caption says, "girls nite out! best time!!" Not quite the way she described the evening to the Trinidad Express. Judge for yourselves. But she definitely has the rhyming skills down. Go on, Diva Trixie. (WENN)

2007-05-11 11:26:00
HP favorite Ron Paul, who we've been promoting for nearly a year because his views are so in sync on HP issues (immigration, the fed, the dollar, government spending, habeus corpus, the list goes on), appears to be going from "crack-pot can't win let's not cover him" to the MSM now taking notice. (Read classic HP posts on Ron Paul here here here here and here)I wonder if Ron Paul actually can do a Howard Dean and catch fire on the internet and jump from nowhere to a serious contender. Good news is I don't think he's a screamer. Here's a report in USNews and World Report on Paul catching fire. Never say never HP'ers, and since Ron Paul is the ONLY GOP candidate with the guts to be anti-war, anti-big-government and anti-illegal-immigration, I think even GOP voters who wouldn't look twice at a guy like him before are being forced to take note.President of the United States Ron Paul.Hmmm... Nah, still seems crazy. But if you like what you hear, please give the guy $10. Who knows....

Title for an article in yesterday's Edmonton Journal: Most landlords aim to be responsible, reject controlsProperty owners expect reasonable return after years of small rent hikes Of course most landlords are responsible, we are offering high quality housing to people it is not a fiefdom! I want my tenants to be happy, most investors I know realize that the tenants our are most important partner. Landlords who are raising the rents $400 a shot are not long term thinkers.
Ehud Barak seems to be double-talking
2007-05-10 06:30:00
In his call for Ehud Olmert to resign, Ehud Barak may be sending a double-message:Former prime minister Ehud Barak on Monday called on Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to resign in the wake of the Winograd Committee's scathing report on the Second Lebanon War, in his first public comments since the report's release. At a news conference in Sdot Yam, Barak said that "the [former] chief of staff has reached personal conclusions, and the defense minister has reached personal conclusions in his own way. I believe that the prime minister will find the appropriate way to reach personal conclusions, but to date this hasn't happened.""The Winograd Report is a harsh report, the conclusions of which justify personal conclusions," added Barak. When asked by reporters if by "personal conclusions" he means the prime minister must resign, Barak answered in the affirmative. What they don't seem to mention here is that Barak himself was cited in the Winograd report as being one of those responsible for ...

It might seem a bit inane to make the point that Paris is a pretty arty city. From the Mona Lisa, to Picasso, to the pont des Arts, to the Opéras Garnier and Bastille, to the Venus de Milo, the Georges Pompidou Center, David, Ingres, Géricault, the Musée du Louvre, the Musée D?Orsay ? yeah, we?re pretty steeped in the finer arts over here. Cool to note though, is the fact that the city?s art-rich personality is not limited to its history. The current mayor of Paris, Bertrand Delanoë is rather famously a patron of the arts, and has used his term to introduce cultural activities to the city, like Nuit Blanche that keep the city?s art scene vibrant and current. The contemporary art scene isn?t limited to local government-funded events, though. If you can move beyond the dazzling must-sees that fill Paris?s most celebrated museums, you?ll find that the city is up to its teeth in galleries, fashion shows, art installations, film festivals and indie music. One of the coolest examples of...

2007-05-01 00:00:00
If you read up on keyword marketing, the basic concept is to find a keyword combination that has high demand but little supply. Simply put, the keyword phrase needs to be searched regularly in the search engines but not have that many entries in the search engine databases to display to the end user. To use a real example, perhaps the phrase "best keywords" was searched 1,300 times in March 2007 but the Google database only has 400
McCain Seems to Have Gotten the Message
2007-04-30 11:07:00
I recently posted that the direction McCain had been going had me worried. However from his recent TV appearances he seems to have gotten his ducks in a row and seems to be back to his old no BSing self. Which is the only way he stands a chance of winning in my opinion. Take for example this snippet of his recent interview on Fox: WALLACE: How would you fight the War on Terror differently than it's being fought now? J. MCCAIN: I would probably announce the closing of Guantanamo Bay. I would move those detainees to Fort Leavenworth. I would announce we will not torture anyone. I would announce that climate change is a big issue, because we've got some image problems in the world. I think that we've got to understand ? diplomatic, intelligence-wise. Clearly, in the area of, quote, "propaganda," in the area of the war of ideas, we are not winning as much as ? well, in some ways we are behind. Al-Jazeera and others maybe, in the view of some ? my view ? may sometimes do a bet...

HIV Infection Seems to Raise Heart Attack Risk

Audio Shaker Makes Sound Seem Tangible
2007-04-23 17:28:00
Apparently, this has been around for a few years, but this is the first time I’ve seen it and I thought it deserved some attention. The Audio Shaker is an experimental technology that explores our perception of sound. The official description says it all: The audio shaker explores our perceptual understanding of sound. Anything sung, spoken, clapped, whistled or played near it is trapped inside, where it takes on an imagined yet tangible physicality. Sounds caught in this void are transformed, given weight and permanence, reacting directly to the shaker’s movements, subtle or violent. Shaken sounds have to settle down before becoming still and silent, behaving more like fluid than transient energy. The linear timescale of sound is broken, a conversation is split into words and mixed up in the shaker, and can be poured out separately, tipped out in a simultaneous splash or added to and shaken up further. Put simply, it is a tactile container to capture, shake up and pou...

A hit for Bucky Covington: Seems so
2007-04-22 12:27:00
Sorry for the disappearing act. I could not post any "clickable links" yesterday and turns out it was the anti virus program my husband installed. Of course it keeps you safe, you couldn't click on anything. *heh*Winnie at Buckymania as always had wonderful photo links yesterday and this morning as well as linking to the one stop shop for any video delights you may have missed in Bucky's whirlwind promotion week via the Bucky Truck Stop over at Rawkhands. These folks have all the goodies. If you stop over to download a video, be sure to sign up and say hey to them and let them know what you think of Bucky's new CD.Well, it has been 5 days since Bucky released his debut album to the world and is it a hit? Well if the Raleigh, NC News Observer has anything to say about it, yes. (Those high predicted sales #'s from earlier in the week as well as a chart jump are leaning the same direction.) The article is a round up of the biggest reviews and a hint at a forth coming interview with...
Be careful when the stock market seems to be on fire
2007-04-21 18:36:00
For many of us that invest in the stock market, there are many reasons to celebrate so far in April. Just look at the table below for the indexes performance so far.April 2 OpenApril 20 Close% changeDOW12,35512,962+4.91%Nasd-aq2,4252,526+4.16%S&P 5001,4211,484+4.43%As you can see, the stock market has been nothing short of spectacular so far this month, with a nice 153.35 day gain of the Dow Jones Industrial Average last Friday. As an individual investor, it is very tempting to jump in on the action when you see such performance. However, I really need to caution everyone that we, the little guys, have a tendency to buy high and sell low. Just remember that the Dow has been up on the last 15 days out of 16, and most traders have made quite a bit of money these past weeks. You must also realize that for the people that are sitting on gains, it will be quite tempting to take some profits, which means a bit of selling. Therefore, if you really want to buy stocks at these levels, you...

Flying Alarm Clock Makes Clocky Seem Like Your Best Friend
2007-04-12 19:19:00
I thought Clocky was king of annoying alarm clocks. I was wrong. The Flying Alarm Clock from Hammacher Schlemmer shoots out a rotor into the air that flies around the room when the alarm rings. The annoying part: the alarm will continue to beep in your ear until you get up, find the rotor, and put it back in place. At least with Clocky there’s the possibility that it will exit the room entirely, in which case you no longer have to put up with its annoying beeping. With all the annoying alarm clocks around, I think I’d prefer to refresh myself in the morning as opposed to driving myself crazy. The Peaceful Progression alarm, from the same company, looks much more enticing. [via Hammacher Schlemmer] Tags: alarm clocks, flying alarm clock, gadgets
Early research: recombinant flu vaccine seems safe and effective
2007-04-12 14:04:00
An early phase clinical trial of a recombinant influenza vaccine showed it to be well tolerated and effective particularly in the higher dose used. Current flu vaccine production relies on growing the virus in live chicken eggs, a method that requires specialised production techniques and takes considerable time. A number of companies are therefore working on alternative methods of production. As most flu vaccines now use only a small number of purified antigens rather than the whole virus, recombinant technology is a potentially suitable alternative. This paper reports a trial carried out during the 2004-5 flu season on an experimental recombinant vaccine prepared in insect cells; its aim was to determine the safety, immungenicity, and protective efficacy of the vaccine, which contained haemagglutinin from currently recommended virus strains. The study involved healthy adults in three US academic medical centres who were randomised to receive vaccines containing either 75 or 135 m...

Cutler Seems To Get It
2007-04-11 16:26:00
Cutler Is Ready To Lead The Broncos BackThere was no doubting the talent of Jake Plummer.  Some think he was the best quarterback to come out of the PAC-10 the past 20 years, Carson Palmer and Matt Leinart included.  It would be hard to blame them.  Plummer had Arizona State 52 seconds away from winning a National Championship, only to be stymied by a last second Ohio State touchdown in the 1996 Rose Bowl.   Think about that, and think about the players he had around him.  Jake had all the physical tools needed to be a very, very good quarterback in the NFL.   It was all that talent that had Shanny intrigued enough to give Plummer $40 million over 6 years despite his awful record for the Cardinals.  What Shanyn found out, unfortunately, is that Jake didn't get it.  He didn't want to be a full-time NFL quarterback.  Jake loved the game, no doubt, but didn't LIVE the game.  To be successful, at the highest level, you have to live, ...

2007-03-30 03:58:00
It seems every so often someone has to come out with a list ranking something. God forbid anything stand on its own. Everything has to be ranked and compared and contrasted. It helps writers of columns and magazine/web content editors fill up space on short notice with a minimum of effort. The list that is bothering me at the moment is Moviefone's list of the top 25 sports movies of all time.Among my many problems with this list is that I don't really consider Jerry Maguire (ranked number 15) a sports movie. Yeah, the title character is an agent, and Cuba Gooding would go on to win Best Supporting Actor playing a character who is a wide receiver. And there are somewhere on the order of 1 million athletes who make cameo appearances. But the movie is only peripherally concerned with sports, and at that it comments on the crass commercial aspects of the sports industry. It's more about the agent's personal growth set against the backdrop of professional turmoil than about sports.My...

The Secret Life of GermsIt seems that we've become so over-saturated with information, and news that the media is constantly scrambling to find something fresh to shock and scare us with. The other day, I was watching some stupidness on TV in the waiting room of my dealership while my car was being serviced.I heard a "special report" on the dangers of frozen vegetables. Apparently, perforations in the bags can allow for bacteria and E-Coli to enter...and this can KILL our children. This morning while getting ready for work, I found out that dust mites have invaded my mattress as well as my pillows, and that washing my pillows weekly is NOT ENOUGH!!!I have to throw them out after two years. There's just no saving them. Now, I'm a bit of a freak when it comes to germs...keep in mind that this is coming from someone who cooks with vinyl gloves on......but come on!Is there no end to scaring the shit out of people for no good reason?Death lurks at the gym....while eating and handling eggs...
Byung-Hyun Kim Trade Seems Likely
2007-03-14 15:38:00
The Rockies have too many starters, and one of Byung-Hyun Kim and Josh Fogg is likely to be dealt before the season begins. Patrick Saunders of the Denver Post says that the Rockies have made it known in recent talks that Kim is available.  He speculates that Kim's lower salary and relative youth make him the more attractive pitcher.  Oh, and there's also the fact that he's better than Fogg. You know what would be awesome?  If the Red Sox traded for Kim and used him as their closer again.  But seriously, there should be strong interest around baseball in Kim as a starter or reliever.  He wouldn't be a bad fit on the Cardinals.
Giants Seemingly Ignore Tim Lincecum as Closer
2007-03-10 22:43:01
With Giants closer Armando Benitez's spring debut in doubt after he took a hard liner off his troublesome knee Friday, pressure mounts to consider top prospect Tim Lincecum and his 98-mph fastball to finish games.A 22-year-old non-roster invitee, Lincecum is a longshot to even make the team. But Benitez -- whose knee disorder abruptly ended his season last September -- likely won't be ready by opening day and his most probable substitute Brian Wilson has been shelled in the early days of camp.Manager Bruce Bochy has been coy when asked whom he thinks will emerge as closer by opening day, seemingly ignoring Lincecum like the fabled pacaderm in the parlor. But the No. 10 overall 2006 draft pick is a conspicuously strong choice, even though the team has resisted rushing him and projects him strictly as a starter. However, Lincecum is widely viewed as having classical closer's skill sets, characteristics and makeup, though he has a violent throwing motion and is smallish at 6-feet, 17...

The Sustainable Endowments Institute released its College Sustainability Report Card, which grades 100 leading colleges by looking at campus greening practices and endowment policies. Hopefully this is something Vandy starts taking into consideration as it continues building and expanding. 2007-02-27 07:21:03
The developers of the Firefox web browsing software application are coming up with solutions from their end to help the corporate organizations avoid the complications that they fear in the switch to the Firefox web browser. It is the fear of complications that is preventing the corporate end users from switching to the Firefox web browsing software application. The Firefox web browsing software application has effectively ended the domination of Microsoft?s Internet Explorer in the personal end user market. That is to say, no longer does the individual end user of the web browsing software applications consider Microsoft?s Internet Explorer as the sole web browsing software application. The success of the Firefox web browsing software application has resulted in the end users realizing that Microsoft?s Internet Explorer is not the only web browsing software application around. Hence, web browsing software application end users have realized that a web browser is a web browser a...

This All Seems Familiar....
2007-02-24 16:28:06
This all seems a little too familiar. Drew Bledsoe starts the season a quarterback for a team loaded with tons of talent, good coaching, and a stifling defense. Drew and his team are picked to go all the way to the Super Bowl, pummeling teams unmercifully along the way. Drew comes out looking to throw fastball strikes to wide open receivers with the intention of parading up and down the field on helpless defenses. Instead, Drew ends up throwing Gyroballs into the hands of the opposing teams' secondary. Drew repeats the process. Over and over again. Drew gets benched for young back-up quarterback. The very talented Seema Biswas talks about her movie Water and what she will wear at the Oscars! How would you describe your role in Water?I play a widow named Shakuntala.
