Israel and Anti-Semitism?
2009-09-20 14:47:00 One of the horrors of my coming to appreciate human rights as a teenager was the anti-Semitism that still pervaded American culture prior to and during WW2. The Holocaust somewhat moderated dislike of Jews and began to open doors of the numerous institutions previously closed to Jewish membership, a ghettoization almost as restricting as that ...
The Gospels and Anti-Semitism
2009-07-21 00:15:00 In his book, ?God and Empire?, John Dominic Crossan makes a good case for the claims that the popular portrayals of Jesus’ passion is at the root of anti-Semitism: The residents of the Bavarian village of Oberammergau have staged a Passion Play every decade on the decade and also on special anniversaries in gratitude for protection ...

The Holocaust Museum Shooting & the Persistence of Anti-Semitism
2009-06-11 01:01:00 It should come as no surprise to those who follow left-wing blogs that some were quick to blame mainstream conservatives for the actions of the lone, loony extremist who opened fire earlier today at the Holocaust Museum in our nation’s capital, murdering security guard Stephen Tyrone. At present, there is little (if any) evidence that this ...

Manischewitz, AOL, and Anti-Semitism?
2009-06-09 01:44:00 I belong to an online writers group. For years now, we’ve been trading tips on how to write better and get published. Right. Haven’t learned a thing. But today I got a different sort of email from one of the members. Cowboy Dan* was upset because when he crafted an email using AOL, he referenced Manischewitz wine. The red line reliably showed itself. When passing his cursor over the word, he expected suggestions like Manichean or Manifestation. Perhaps even “get some taste, that shit is whack.” Instead - the suggestions were: “Auschwitz”, “Antichrist”, and “Antichrists.” What the fuck? I thought AOL stood for America On Line, not Against Oy Language. Another writer chimed in that AOL suggested “adoptive” when he typed in “abortive.” Right-wing conspiracy or coincidence? Anti-Semitism or tasteless prank? You decide.
Facebook and the right of Holocaust denial
2009-05-11 16:23:00 Liberal Jews are inconsistent. They seek to shut up Facebook?s Holocaust deniers but resist the Muslim attempts to shut up those who defame their religion. An affront against God is immeasurably more offensive than against any number of his creatures. There is nothing wrong about fooling the opponents with false moralizing. The problem starts when Jews ...

Gerald Moreno - Christian Fundamentalists, Anti-Semitism, Fascism
2009-05-03 12:49:00 The pro-Sai activist and front man on the Internet for defending Sai Baba and Co., Gerald Moreno, has tried by all kinds of false insinuation to smear former followers of Sathya Sai Baba in numerous ways - too many even to summarize effectively here. His unconcealed and massive agenda of trying to find devious ways simply ...
World against Jews: Battleground Jerusalem
2009-04-22 11:13:00 Presenting the conflict as Israeli-Palestinian is misleading, a classic case of what mathematicians know as Achilles and the turtle paradox of infinitely small iterations. The conflict is between Jews and the world. European powers evicted Jews from Europe, and allocated us 0.01% of the Middle East. In fact, there were several arrangements, in turn diminishing ...

Sai Baba Internet Man - No Apology When Caught Using Anti-Semitism Slur
2009-03-14 08:38:00 By his very typical method of faulty, highly selective extrapolation, Gerald Joe Moreno falsely accused Barry Pittard of being a criminal - which statement he had to retract (extremely grudgingly). At another stage, exploiting the posting of a Pittard article by an an obnoxious group, he strongly and widely labelled Pittard as an anti-Semite. Moreno exploited the posting of a ...

Anti-Semitism and the Gaza excuse
2009-02-18 04:19:00 By Jefferson Flanders Who hasn’t been disturbed by the recent images of Palestinian civilians killed and wounded by the Israeli incursion into urban Gaza? Anti-Semitism in Britain reaches serious level
2009-02-09 20:51:00 The Observer reports that anti-Semitism has reached new levels of horror: Police patrols have been stepped up in Jewish neighbourhoods following the most intense period of antisemitic incidents to have been recorded in Britain in decades. Safety fears are so acute that reports have emerged of members of Britain's Jewish community fleeing the UK with antisemitic incidents running at around seven

2008-12-24 16:19:00 Madoff —> Anti-Semitism? Frankly, I don’t see Madoff as an occasion for anti-Semitism as reported by this article. The Mystification of Anti-Semitism
2008-11-11 10:14:00 Commenter Lafayette Sennacherib notes that when he commented on a blog recently, laying out the various complaints that Nazis had against Jews (that the Jewish elite were aligned with international capital, while the rest contained a hotbed of seething Communism) his comment was deleted as anti-Semitic.Let us protest this sort of thing. What the Nazis did was really evil and fucked up, but they did have their reasons! The Jewish line is that all anti-Semitism is "mysterious". This is what I call "the mystification of anti-Semitism". In many Jewish writings on anti-Semitism, it takes this line, to the point where this is now our dominant "analysis" of anti-Semitism.The Jewish line goes something like this: anti-Semitism is crazy! It cannot be explained by any rational mechanism. There simply is no rational reason for it whatsoever. Basically, it's a form of insanity. This analysis has the advantage for sure of letting the Jews of the hook and putting it all on the anti-Semites, but sa...

Musings on Dual Loyalty, Judaism as Zionism, and Anti-Semitism
2008-11-10 12:17:00 The latest death toll figures from Hurricane Katrina can be seen on this website here. The famous Russian neo-Nazi video is on this blog here.Always-perceptive commenter James Schipper makes some astute, terse and cut to the chase comments on my post, The "New Anti-Semitism". In it, he moves beyond the typically vulgar anti-Semitism that much modern anti-Zionism descends into and offers a perfectly logical explanation for the dual loyalty accusation leveled at Jews.He also brings up some very difficult questions about the differences between Judaism and Zionism and whether there is really any difference at all.Schipper: If criticism of Israel = anti-Zionism = anti-Semitism, then we should be proud to call ourselves anti-Semites.What is really wrong with Israel? It is not such a bad country for Jews, or even for the Arabs in Israel proper. I would rather be a Jew in Israel than an Arab in any Arab country. Israel was born in sin, but so was every country in the Western hemisphere. I...

About the UN's "Anti-Semitism"
2008-05-14 11:11:00 The latest death toll figures from Hurricane Katrina can be seen on this website here. The famous Russian neo-Nazi video is on this blog here.Updated May 14:It's a common trope among Zionists that the UN's obsession with Israel is an example of how the UN is anti-Semitic and hates Israel. What is the UN? The UN is not some evil Communist or anti-Semitic organization. It is nothing but an organization of all of the nations of the world, for the most part with a single vote for each one. It is a great exercise in world democracy. If it seems Leftist, Communist or socialist, than maybe that is because most nations on the Earth seem Communist, Leftist or socialist to the person making that statement. The UN cannot be separated from the states of the world. The states in the UN tend to take stances that are similar to those of their people. If you hate the UN, then you hate the majority of the people of this planet. Are you comfortable with that? Just so we know where you are coming from...

CJC: Fighting anti-Semitism, or selling out?
2008-03-19 21:03:00 National Post Letter to the Editor - CJC: Fighting anti-Semitism, or selling out?Re: Human Rights Make For Strange Bedfellows, Michael Ross, March 17.The question Canadian Jews should be asking is: Why is the CJC in bed with these guys? Why is it so cavalier about selling out a basic Western value? Why does it seem so determined to ignore the genuine threat of radical Islam? The answer can be found in an interview with Kenneth Levin, author of The Oslo Syndrome: Delusions of a People Under Siege. Mr. Levin, a historian and instructor of clinical psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, says that the Oslo Syndrome is not solely an Israeli phenomenon, but has now spread to the rest of the Western world: "The basic psychological motivation," he writes, "involves the powerful wish to be in control of one's fate and, more particularly, people's wish to believe that they can extricate themselves from painful and threatening situations."In other words, it often feels better to do something r...

Germany's Merkel attacks "middle-class anti-Semitism"
2008-01-26 13:10:00 By Sylvia Westall BERLIN (Reuters) - Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Friday Germany must tackle disguised "middle-class anti-Semitism" and attacked those who were silent about the country's painful past. Speaking ahead of a memorial day for victims of the Nazi era nearly 75 years after Adolf Hitler's party came to power, Merkel said that while anti-Semitism was often linked to poorer communities, the middle-class was also to blame. "I see, in the educated classes, a more disguised form of anti-Semitism, that is not so readily defined," Merkel told a conference, describing it as "a form of middle-class anti-Semitism". "There is, in broad parts of the population, an awful silence when faced with all the historical images, with our own history, and this silence is always a danger". Millions of people were deported, imprisoned and killed by the Nazis from 1933-1945 and politicians say the era's difficult legacy still haunts Germany today....

On MLK Day: Obama Addresses Homophobia, Anti-Semitism and Xenophobia Among
2008-01-21 18:57:00 Here Obama speaks with conviction and a level of honesty uncommon among politicians. Perhaps this guy is what he says he is: a uniter. Perhaps we shall see. The New York Observer Unfortunately, all too often when we talk about unity in this country, we?ve come to believe that it can be purchased on the cheap. We?ve come to believe that racial reconciliation can come easily ? that it?s just a matter of a few ignorant people trapped in the prejudices of the past, and that if the demagogues and those who exploit our racial divisions will simply go away, then all our problems would be solved. All too often, we seek to ignore the profound institutional barriers that stand in the way of ensuring opportunity for all children, or decent jobs for all people, or health care for those who are sick. We long for unity, but are unwilling to pay the price. But of course, true unity cannot be so easily won. It starts with a change in attitudes ? a broadening of our minds, and a broadening of ou...

Exciting in the sense that the behavior of the world-famous orchestra did not differ from the behavior of most Germans. There was no resistance against the regime - in addition, no enthusiasm for the party and its guidance. There were no pronounced Antisemitismus - in addition, no attempt to revolt itself against the race illusion.
