Sentosa Singapore: All-In- One Island
2008-04-18 02:55:00
Before I go to Singapore, I said to myself that I should visit Sentosa, which my friend usually tells about its breathtaking beauty, lush greenery peppered with exciting attractions and activities. And when I got to the place, this popular island resort is really an all- in- one themed attraction, tropical resort, and nature park and heritage center.Among the attractions I have liked are the two-kilometer long sheltered beach, Fort Siloso, golf courses and the five-star hotels. For me Sentosa is a place of fun sports and activities for the whole family, with its amenities, which is easily within reach. Also, I have enjoyed looking for those friendly peacocks, monkeys and squirrels found everywhere the place. I have met the friendly pink dolphins as well as other exciting ocean life, butterflies and unusual insects such as the man-face bugs, stick insects, giant millipedes, scorpions and rhino beetles at the Underwater World and at the Butterfly Park and Insect Kingdom, respectively....

China developer buys S’pore Sentosa Cove plot  Firm pays $216m, plans ultra-posh marina enclave with jumbo units By Joyce Teo      A CHINA developer has ventured overseas for the first time and paid a higher-than-expected $216 million for a landed plot on Pearl Island in Sentosa Cove. The deal is another indication that, while Singapore developers are taking a cautious approach in the wake of the sub-prime crisis, foreign firms are happy to muscle in. Ximeng Land beat six other bidders, which were not named, to the 14,840 sq m plot, which has a maximum gross floor area (GFA) of 11,872 sq m and can accommodate 19 villas. It paid about $1,350 per sq ft (psf) for the plot. This is more than double the prices chalked up on the nearby Sandy Island but still below those paid for some individual seafront bungalow plots, which have sold for as much as $1,696 psf. In September, a landed plot was sold to a developer for $1,099 psf of potential GFA. Ximeng Land is owned by the majori...

It's also a great place to stay overnight, to soak in the beach holiday mood and be away from the hustle and bustle of the city. There are camping grounds, a hostel and two luxury resorts, the Beaufort Sentosa and the Shangri-La Sentosa Resort.Going to Sentosa Island is all part of the fun if you go there by cable-car or ferry. The cable-car service is from the World Trade Centre, and you will get a good bird's eye view of Mount Faber, one of Singapore highest points, during the ride. For SGD120, you can also experience a romantic "sky" dinner for two aboard the cable car on Friday and Saturday nights. Ferry rides, another enjoyable way to get to Sentosa, are also available from the World Trade Centre. Alternatively, you could take one of the special buses running to-and-fro the mainland and Sentosa. You can take Sentosa Bus Service E from Orchard Road, Service C from Tiong Bahru MRT, or Serv...
SENTOSA'S UNDERWATER WORLD SINGAPORE
2007-04-12 18:01:00
Sentosa's Underwater World, probably the most popular attraction on the island, draws in huge crowds every day. Touted as Asia's most exciting tropical oceanarium, it has an 80-metre transparent acrylic tunnel which allows you to view over 2,500 sea creatures in close proximity.Being transported through the tunnel by a travellator, you get the impression of having stepped under water, deep into the ocean. Fearsome sharks, gigantic stingrays, moray eels, turtles, seadragons and fishes of all sizes, stripes and colours swim next to, and over you.Be sure to catch the latest additions to the Underwater World family -- pink dolphins, electric eels, a dugong and piranhas. Don't miss feeding time, when a diver offers small fish to swarms of hungry sea creatures. At the entrance of the oceanarium is a "touch" pool, where you may stick your hand underwater and feel the sealife. Underwater World opens daily from 9 am to 9 PM Admission is SGD13 for adults and SGD7 for children below 12
POEA to Rule on Case vs Sentosa this Week
2007-04-10 06:44:00
The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) is set to come up with a ruling on the case filed by filipino nurses in New York against Sentosa Recruitment Agency for violating the terms of their recruitment contract.Salvador Tuy, the group's counsel, said Sentosa violated POEA recruitment rules and regulations by making the nurses work for Avalon Gardens, which does not appear in the POEA-approved contracts with Sentosa Recruitment Agency in Manila. The case was filed April last year which resulted to a suspension of Sentosa's recruitment activities in the Philippines. However, the suspension was immediately lifted when former presidential chief of staff, senatorial candidate Mike Defensor allegedly interfered in Sentosa's behalf.Tuy is urging the POEA to re-impose a preventive suspension on Sentosa to protect other Filipino nurses from suffering the same fate as his clients.News, Articles, and Information for the Filipino Nurse.
