Serengeti & Polyphonic - My Patriotism
2009-04-29 22:32:00

Navigating the Manhattan Serengeti
2008-02-14 00:40:00
I like to safari.  I have safaried many times in many locations, including Hoboken, NJ, Oakland, CA and Gary, Indiana.  But nothing comes close to experiencing the reality of the asphalt jungle like taking a deep breath of that Big Apple air and having someone beep their horn and tell you to get the f*** out of the ...

Cheetah In The Serengeti - Photo Of The Day
2007-10-14 13:38:00
This Cheetah had just killed something in the late afternoon. He was slowly ripping pieces off of it as the safari trucks parked nearby to watch. The dry, arid Serengeti stretches for miles and miles in every direction from here. This was part of my trip to East Africa in 2006. Published on Sun, 14 Oct 2007 04:38:27 MST. - 0 Comments
Serengeti National Park

Do you like the scenes from the animated Disney film The Lion King? Did you know that the area is inspired by the Serengeti National Park which is located in Tanzania? It is most famous for its annual migration of over one million white bearded (or brindled) wildebeest and 200,000 zebra. The name Serengeti which ...
The Eternal Serengeti

There is a national park in Tanzania (Africa) called Serengeti. This awesome place has been listed by UNESCO as one of the World Heritage Sites.Serengeti means "endless plains" in Maasai language. And it's true, it's endless plains filled of lions, tigers, elephants, rhinoceros, giraffes, hyenas, zebras, gnus, buffaloes...In Serengeti there is a big biannual migration move. The animals go searching the water and the vegetables, following the season's change. In this travel they cross the river Mara two times. We can find in Serengeti the Maasai tribe. Kind and smiling people that wear colorful clothes. They are nomads and cattle breeders. Their life goes around their cows. From cows, they get meat, milk, blood (they drink it), leather...Near the Serengeti park, we can visit the Ngorongoro park. There we can find the Olduvai Gorge, where were found skeletons of primitive men like the Homo habilis and the Paranthropus boisei. This is only the beginning of a new section of this blog....
Serengeti
2007-07-20 15:00:00
It was 1913 and great stretches of Africa were still unknown to the white man when Stewart Edward White, an American hunter, set out from Nairobi. Pushing south, he recorded: "We walked for miles over burnt out country... Then I saw the green trees of the river, walked two miles more and found myself in paradise." He had found Serengeti. In the years since White's excursion under "the high noble arc of the cloudless African sky," Serengeti has come to symbolize paradise to many of us. The Maasai, who had grazed their cattle on the vast grassy plains for millennia had always thought so. To them it was Siringitu - "the place where the land moves on forever." serengeti.orgMore reading: Tanzania Parks, glcomImage: Google

Tips For Navigating The Manhattan Serengeti and A Parking Myth Smushed
2006-12-05 06:53:00
We were out at dinner tonight in Hells Kitchen, at a place called 44 &X, on, of all places, 44th & 10th ave.  The food was quite good indeed.  I read a review that said it was pricey, but it didn’t seem out of line for a good San Francisco restaurant, so I am not sure.  ...
