2008-03-22 23:33:00 There are a couple of polls taken this past week on the New Hampshire Senate race showing Democrat Jeanne Shaheen leading incumbent Republican John Sununu. The earlier poll, from American Research Group, shows Shaheen with 47% support to Sununu's 33% support, while the later poll, from Rasmussen, shows Shaheen leading 49%-41%. While Sununu imo is the most endangered Senate incumbent this year from either party it's a bit early to pass judgement on his reelection chances. He's the incumbent, which has definite advantages, and he also defeated Shaheen six years aso to win his Senate seat despite the fact that Shaheen was then a very popular sitting governor. These polls themselves aren't damning either, as Shaheen's lead in the Rasmussen poll isn't statistically significant and the problems ARG's had with presidential primary polling this year has left me a bit leery of anything they produce at the moment (even though likely voter screening for primary polling is far more p...

The Pakistan Army said that the Strategic Missile Group SMG) had launched the Shaheen-1 missile from an undisclosed location. The nuclear-capable missile has a range of 700 kilometres (420 miles). Pakistan tests the various missiles in its arsenal, designed to match India. A SMG of the Pakistan Army’s Strategic Force Command (ASFC) conducted a successful training launch of the Shaheen-1 (Hatf-IV) medium range ballistic missile. Shaheen has polled well ahead of Sununu in head to head matchups this year, and while that margin should tighten up at some point she's probably a slight favorite to defeat Sununu next year. There are three other announced Democratic challengers standing between her and a November 2008 rematch, however, and only one of them, Portsmouth Mayor Steve Marchand, has previously said that he would withdraw if Shaheen entered the race. Jay Buckey, a Dartmouth medical school professor and 1998 space shuttle crew member, has already indicated he will remain in the race, and both Marchand and Katrina Swett, wife of former Rep. Dick Swett and a past congressional candidate herself, are expected to announce their intentions this afternoon. Shaheen Polling Well Against Sununu
2007-03-29 20:48:00 Maybe "Blue Hampshire" is an appropriate moniker after all. Polling released by American Research Group today indicates that Democratic former New Hampshire governor Jeanne Shaheen is favored over Republican incumbent senator John Sununu by a 44%-34% margin should there be a rematch of their 2002 senate race which Sununu won by a 51%-47% margin. One in six Republicans surveyed said they'd vote for Shaheen while only 1% of Democrats said they'd vote for Sununu. At this point Shaheen hasn't announced whether she plans on seeking a rematch with Sununu. Hat tip - Taegan Goddard.
