Shaun Tait quits cricket indefinitely
2008-01-29 11:54:00 Australian fast bowler Shaun Tait has decided to quit playing cricket indefinitely, citing physical and emotional exhaustion. Cricket Australia today announced that Tait will be rested from all levels while he undergoes a programme to help him recuperate, and the length of it will be dependent on his progress. "This is a very difficult situation for me to be in at this time, this is not an overnight decision but something that I've been struggling with for sometime. A break from professional cricket will hopefully give me a clear mind and a chance for my body to rest and recover. My love and enjoyment of the game is struggling due to these issues, and if I continue to go on, it will be unfair on my team-mates and support staff of both the Australian and South Australian cricket teams - and most importantly my family and close friends," Tait said in a message released through Cricket Australia. Trefor James, Cricket Australia's chief medical officer, said: "After d...

The curious case of Shaun Tait
2008-01-18 14:53:00 Once again there was much hype in the Australian media and the man himself on his speed and also that he will rip through the Indian batting like butter. Sadly he failed at everything? bowling extraordinarily fast, walking the talk or be a handful to the Indian batsmen.

Shaun Tait aims to claim worlds fastest bowling record
2008-01-16 08:07:00 Australian fastest bowler Shaun Tait aims to claim the world record for the fastest delivery ever delivered, currently held by Pakistani paceman Shoaib Akhtar, on the bouncy WACA wicket during the third Test against India, which began on Wednesday. Tait had come close to breaking Akhtar's mark of 161.3 km per hour by bowling at 160km/h last year and feels he bowled even quicker when there was no
Will Shaun Tait and Brett Lee play together?
2007-04-14 04:08:00 After the injury of Brett Lee and missing of the world cup, Shaun Tait got the chance to show his talent in the World cup. There was no other fast bowler in Australia to bowl at 90 miles per hour besides Lee and Tait. Brett Lee showed has already proved himself and has disappointed much of them with his high pace. Tait also came in light when he bowled at 160 km per hour and nearly broke the record of Shoaib Akthar’s 161 km per hour. He has shown a great performance with the ball in the world cup. After the world cup Lee will be fit. Australia has Nathan Bracken as their next fast bowler. As McGrath is retiring after the world cup, it is obvious that Tait would play. Then the Australian side would start with two pace bowlers and the opposing batsmen should face the bowling 90 miles per hour from both side. In the absence of McGrath, Australians can use Tait as well as Stuart Clarke and Johnson.
Shaun Tait rocked by seasickness nightmare
2007-03-21 14:27:00 Shaun Tait might be the baby of Australia's squad, but until he joined a Caribbean cruise it had been a long time since he'd embraced the foetal position. Tait, who has three wickets in his first two World Cup games, experienced "four hours of hell" in the choppy waters off St Kitts instead of a day of peaceful R&R. "I spewed up about 15 times," Tait, 24, told AAP. "There was a fair bit of vomit and what-not, so I'm not quite 100% today. "I spent four hours in the foetal position, basically. It was a nightmare. I don't think I will be heading out again for the rest of my life." After Andrew Flintoff's problems with England, boat rides might be next on touring teams' banned lists. |
