A fairly easy win for Arsenal’s B side, with two goals from Eduardo and a third from Denilson. United just didn’t have the horses. Hey, at least Wenger didn’t make Lehmann start in goal today. Full lineup here.

Arsenal 3Eduardo 8', 50'Denilson 69'Sheffield United 0No Bookings !! :)Another easy win for the young gunners. Sheffield United didn't even have more than 4-5 attacks, ,thats how dominant the youngsters were under the guidance of Gilberto Silva. It was surely surprising to see Fabianski getting the captain's armband over Gilberto.Highlights to follow soon..Cheers!. © DesiGooner - An Indian Gooner across the Pond.

Arsenal vs. Sheffield UnitedCarling Cup Round 4Bramall LaneWednesday, October 31, 2007Kick-off: 7:45 pm BSTYoung Gunners get another chance to show off their impressive skills as they take on Sheffield United in the Carling Cup. Arsene Wenger has announced that he intends to follow his policy of giving reserve players and youngsters some first team action. Amidst reports that Gilberto refusing to play as Centre back, Arsene Wenger has reiterated that they haven't had any rifts and that Gilberto has never made such a statement. Wenger expects Gilberto to be in for the game tomorrow and might be starting in central defence with Alexander Song, replacing the injured Phillipe Senderos. Armand Traore looks all set to miss the game while being away on international duty. Justin Hoyte or Kieran Gibbs might take his position up. Diarra is expected to partner Denilson in the middle with Diaby and Walcott on the wings and upfront, Wenger might pair up Eduardo with Bendtner. Fabianski will be...

West Ham Safe As Sheffield United Lose Fight For Premier League Survival
2007-07-03 21:35:00
The independent arbitration panel have delivered the hammer blow that has sealed the Blades participation in the Coca-Cola Championship next season. Sheffield United appealed following the meagre £5.5 million fine West Ham received following a breach of Premier League rules regarding the ownership of Javier Mascherano and Carlos Tevez. However the independent arbitration panel upheld the ...

Talk of conspiracy theories during the week spoke of the variety of ways that both Sheffield United and Wigan could engineer a result that would see them both in the Premiership next season. However the key to the success of any conspiracy relied on Manchester United beating West Ham United. The visitors were a goal up ...

Liverpool Beat Sheffield United 4-0 At Anfield
2007-02-26 09:14:01
2-0 in the first half was pretty good going, two penalties from Robbie Fowler after two subsequent challenges on Steven Gerrard. Paddy Kenny guessed right for the first one but couldn’t reach it in time, while Fowler sent the Irishman the wrong way for the second one. Liverpool were in control of the game from start to finish and while I was dubious about Jerzy Dudek being in goal for the game while Pepe Reina attended to his wife, he really had nothing to do as Sheffield United were rarely a threat, especially throughout the entirety of the first half. LIverpool kept the foot down in the second half and were rewarded with two further goals, the first coming from Sami Hyypia on 71 minutes when the Finn found himself with room to shoot in the box, albeit his shot taking a deflection on the way to the back of the net but they all count at the end of the day. Steven Gerrard himself then finished United off with a cracker of a drive just minutes later. Overall a top-drawer perform...
Penalties Help Liverpool Beat Sheffield United Again
2007-02-25 10:28:01
Blades manager Neil Warnock was not as upset as he had been on the first day of the season at Brammall Lane, when a penalty was awarded against his side for intent to foul Steven Gerrard. In the return fixture at Anfield Gerrard ?won? not one but two penalties in five minutes. The first was awarded as Gerrard complained to referee Steve Bennett about being held and then fell into Robert Kozluk. The second was given for a slight tug on the Liverpool captains shirt, both penalties were coolly finished by crowd favourite Robbie Fowler. Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez made seven changes from the team that beat Barcelona mid-week in the Champions League. Jerzy Dudek appeared to have a force field around his goal as the blades saw all their efforts result in nothing. Peter Crouch was substituted after twenty minutes after he was struck in the face by the ball and a Sheffield United boot, breaking his nose and leaving him needing stitches to a gash on his face. Liverpool increased the lead whe...
Live: Liverpool 2 - 0 Sheffield United (Penalty)
2007-02-25 09:13:01
Another penalty opportunity for Liverpool and AGAIN Steven Gerrard hauled down in the box. Fowler with a chance to make it 2-0, left footed and sends Paddy Kenny the wrong way. Cool as a cucumber to curl inside the right post, its two goals for Robbie Fowler, two penalties for Liverpool and 2-0 on the scoreboard at Anfield.
Live: Liverpool 1 - 0 Sheffield United (Penalty)
2007-02-25 09:13:01
Gerrard was held back at the post, Crouch had been dragged at trying to head the ball and Steve Bennett has given Liverpool a penalty, hauling Gerrard down smack in front of the referee. Crouch got a kick in the face as he came down, now sporting a cut on his head. Fowler stepped up for the penalty, eventually, and just bagged his second goal of the season, smacking the ball into the left corner of the net. Paddy Kenny guessed the right way, but no joy for the Irishman. Not much over 20 minutes gone in the game and the score is 1-0 to Liverpool.

Game Day: Liverpool vs Sheffield United (Team)
2007-02-25 09:13:01
Just moments away from kick off at Anfield between Liverpool and Sheffield United and here’s the team. Dudek, Finnan, Carragher, Hyypia, Riise, Pennant, Gerrard, Mascherano, Gonzalez, Crouch and Robbie Fowler. On the bench we’ve got Padelli, Agger, Alonso, Kuyt and Momo Sissoko. Pity we won’t be seeing Reina in goal, I’m bloody skeptical every time Benitez puts Dudek between the posts, especially after his last two runs for Liverpool but nice to see Mascherano make his Liverpool debut!
Gillespie Requests Transfer From Sheffield United And Gets Charged With Vio
2007-01-23 21:57:01
Northern Ireland winger Keith Gillespie has handed in a transfer request at Sheffield United. The Blades midfielder handed in the request minutes before being charged with violent conduct by the Football Association. Gillespie was charged after an incident in Saturday?s match against Reading, when he managed to stay on the pitch just ten seconds. He was dismissed for elbowing the Royals Irish striker Stephen Hunt. Gillespie could find that his instant three match ban is extended, which would not be good news for any prospective new employer.

The starting lineup and bench have been announced and it looks as follows: Pepe Reina, Jan Kromkamp, John Arne Riise, Sami Hyypia, Jamie Carragher, Steven Gerrard, Fabio Aurelia, Momo Sissoko, Bolo Zenden, Craig Bellamy, Robbie Fowler. Subs: Jerzy Dudek, Danny Agger, Mark Gonzalez, Peter Crouch, Jermaine Pennant. With Steve Finnan out of action following Ireland’s loss against the dutch, Jan Kromkamp fills in at right back while Xabi Alonso also misses out. Fans will have to wait to see Dirk Kuyt in action another while yet, the player only completing his transfer yesterday and cannot play against Maccabi Haifa during the week. Liverpool haven’t yet won an opening day fixture under Rafa Benitez but have lost only three of their last thirty in the league and will be hoping to turn that stat around in a half hours time.
