From Section 8 Sherpa to Katrina Rebuilder
2008-03-12 04:40:00
Posted from the FlippingHomes.com Real Estate Investing Blog From Section 8 Sherpa to Katrina Rebuilder Thanks so much to SteveW(MD) from the community for posting a link to a story he stubmled upon on NPR today. It’s a short story on Hal Roark and his post Katrina work in New Orleans.  For those who’ve been hanging around here for a while, Hal’s one of the original “gray hairs” from years ago.  You may recall that he authored a killer course on Section 8 / Landlording (currently out of print). But since Katrina, he’s been dedicated to rebuilding. In a few conversations with Steve he’s shared candidly how the post-Katrina rebuilding has become a real ministry for him. This story’s worth a listen (or read) for anyone who wants to catch up on Hal a little, or anyone who wants to ponder some of the other uses for real estate investors besides making gobs and gobs of money. Here’s the interview… Enjoy!  General, hal roark...

Win a Baby Sherpa Diaper Backpack
2007-12-14 04:27:00
During the Month of December I am holding a contest in conjunction with Baby Sherpa at http://www.babysherpa.com/. We will be giving some lucky bloggers some great Baby Sherpa gear including a Baby Sherpa Diaper Backpack, a Short Haul Diaper Backpack and a DayLite Diaper Bag. I discovered the Baby Sherpa Diaper Backpack while reading one of my favorite Web comics Dog Eat Doug. Brian mentioned the website so I followed the link and learned more about the product. I wrote to Baby Sherpa and told them about Read To Me, Dad and how I?d love to work with them on a contest and I?d love a Baby Sherpa Diaper Backpack to review. They sent me one and I love using it. I have taken it with us on trips with Eva and I can see that it is going to stand up against time and the elements as it is a really rugged backpack. And for an active kid like Eva, rugged is what we are going to need. I initially wanted to do a contest to give away just the Baby Sherpa Diaper Backpack but Heather...

Lessons from Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa
2007-10-07 12:52:00
Let me introduce Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa first if you don't know. They are the persons who climbed Mt. Everest for the first time in May 29, 1953.Hillary is from NewZealand and Sherpa from Nepal. Mt. Everest(8848 m) is the highest peak in the world which lies in Nepal. Today more than thousand mountaineers from around the world climb Everest every year. You might not know following things from climbing success of two climbers.1. Thier target was to be the first to be on the top of the highest peak in the world. But they didn't know how to go to the top. Only they knew was that they should be on the top one day. However, they themselves searched the way up there. Similarly to be successful in our life, we should set a goal and try ourselves even if you are trying for the first time. Whether you become succeed for not, totally depend upon you.2. Climbing that complicated, high peak where weather condition was not sure because you don't know when it rains, sno...
Using Social Networking Sites for Lead Generation: Marketing Sherpa Success
2007-10-03 18:38:00
If your company markets and sells to businesses, it is difficult to find examples of successful lead generation campaigns using social networks.  Successes using social networking sites by consumer companies abound.  Thanks to the intrepid Marketing Sherpa team, we have a rare business-to-business example with the recent case study from Information Builders, an enterprise software vendor.  Information Builders markets and sells business intelligence software to enterprises. Social Networking Site Participation Challenge How can a company participate in an industry online group, bulletin board or other social networking site without appearing to be just “sellingâ€?  Kudos to companies like Information Builders that do the pick-and-shovel work of commenting and adding to the conversation on these sites.  But according to their Director of Internet Marketing, Chris Boylan, “…there’s only so many times you can jump into a discussion without seeming t...

David Sharp HAD to Die on Everest

People die on Mt. Last season brought the ...
