2007-12-21 00:35:00 I guess I told a tiny lie on my last post (but not on purpse). I had planned to place a small area with a couple of stores for vendors beside the House of Zen, but due to MORE drama, I deleted all of them. My apologies go out to the ones that didn't complain, and I hope they can appreciate that I don't do drama. The airy boardwalk is still at Hinode Shima. The stores are going fast, so hurry over and get your spot reserved!Anyways....Racknar and I have developed a new residential area in it's place. The two areas are divided by water but connected with a beautiful stone bridge. The new residential area has views of the ocean, lockable doors, privacy windows, some have decks, and there is a local swimming pool to hang out at. There are many things about the area that make it very peaceful. You will just have to come by and take a look for yourself! Prices will be L$150 and L$300 per week, depending on lot size chosen. Yuri Manga: Kashimashi ~Girl Meets Girl, Volume 2 (English)
2007-05-18 17:26:00 I would like to start this review with a sad face in the direction of Seven Seas, since they told me that I'd be receiving review copies of their Yuri, but have so far not. Boo on you, S7.Kashimashi ~ Girl Meets Girl, Volume 2, is, as was the first volume, an excellent adaptation into English. It is *such* a relief to be able to just have the honorifics as is, instead of watching the contortions of language necessary to make translations work, or to have to ignore the implied relationships because they have been removed. I'm not sure if it's more like having an itch scratched or the absence of a pain one was barely aware of. In any case, It's nice. :-)Volume 2 focuses mostly on the creation and solidification of the three-way romance between Hazumu, childhood friend Tomari and first love Yasuna. We also learn that Hazumu not only lacks critical decisionimaking skills, but is tortured with the inability to make even the simplest decisions. And, in between, we watch Hazumu's best...

So few that there really could not have been anything like a full volume from them. So interspersed with the 4-6 page shorts that have been running in the magazine are some "classic" chapters from past volumes.The one new chapter really worth mentioning was fairly recent. Miu, as usual, begins it all by asking what the difference between "tomodachi" (friend) and "shinyuu" (close friend) is. Miu inquires of all of them how they feel about her, asking Chika if they are shinyuu. If for instance, Chikane from Kannazuki no Miko had been a male character, would anyone *ever* attempt a rationalization of his behavior, much less openly declare it to be sexy? I think not.So, going forward, when I comment that a series is "not good" you can take that to mean that, among other things, I think that if the characters were a hetero, rather than lesbian, couple the story would be boring, trite and/or vile. It's a simpler criteria than trying to explain good writing all the time.Ironically, none of that really applies to today's review, as the character *is* a boy. These are all pictures scanned from an APS-film.The first pic is from Shukkei-en, a Japanese style garden at Hiroshima and almost 400 years old, constructed at the Edo-period. Maybe not the most gorgeous or most beautiful garden in Japan, but it sure is a nice and quiet place where you can escape for a while from the noisy and hasty city.This pic hasn't been Photoshopped. It was shot directly with a red filter screwed on the lens.Behind the older guy you see the memorial monument, the cenotaph for the A-bomb victims, where the annual remembrance service is held. 2006-12-02 15:32:10 I haven't figure out all the possibilities of my new Nikon Fimscanner, but the first results are promising. In this post I will show some black and white pics that I shot in 2000 in Japan at the city of Hiroshima, known as the first city in history that had the unfortunate and horrible honour to be bombed with an atomic bomb on August 6th 1945.The pictures in this post are scans from a black and white APS-film shot with a Minolta Vectis S-1.Most of the pics were shot in and around the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park where you find most of the monuments related to the victims of the A-bomb and also the Peace Memorial Museum. A visit to this museum won't leave nobody untouched, unless you are a cold-hearted insensitive brainless idiot. It sure is worthwhile to visit, but be prepared that it can ruin your day.But despite it's horrible and tragic history Hiroshima is also a fun city to visit.
