First Look at New Shimano Curado E
2008-06-20 08:46:00
If you have been paying attention lately, you know that Shimano has been giving some good deals on their current Curados & Citicas, either via rebate or store sales. When a manufacturer does this, they are usually trying to clear inventory, thus the introduction of a new model or models to replace the existing.Well the first glimpses of the newly revamped Shimano Curado & Citica are here!!!!! The new line will be the Curado E and Citica E's.Pictures by TackleTour.comCouple things you will notice right away, they are going back to the muted Green finish of the Curado Bantam that was so popular with many bass anglers and many of us still have several of these, as they were proven workhorses. The profile is a bit smaller to compete with the Abu Revos that have entered the market in the last couple years. Even better news, the price point of the Curado E is thought to be $179.99 vs. the Curado D currently at $199.99Looks like these reals will launch in a burner (7.0:1) and a 5....

The things I hate about Shimano.
2008-04-30 02:27:00
For the most part, shimano bicycle components work extremely well. Even so, after working on my fleet of road rental bikes for the past year or more I have come to despise certain maintenance tasks. What follows is a list of all the little niggly things which I dislike about shimano road componentry (5600/Ultegra level). Neither is this ...
2009 Shimano Saint
2008-04-18 19:06:00
Traction Mag has some insight into the newly unvieled 2009 Shimano Saint group. Looks like the biggest change is the rear derailleur reverting back to the standard mounting options as opposed to the axle mount. Check out the line up and info at Traction Mag  read more &raqu-o;
Shimano Dura-Ace 2009
2008-03-27 22:26:00
Two new Dura-Aces' are coming our way from the good people at Shimano, news and images courtesy of James Huang at Cycling News.1. Dura-Ace 7900 (prototype below), all mechanical actuation, 180g lighter, more robust shifting with increased cable and shorter shift lever throw (merely nudging the lever about 2mm or so will initiate a gear shift). Top of brake hoods feature a much flatter section for comfort. The groupset's chain will have a quick connect link, hollow pins and milled out side plates. Cassettes will be available with wider gear selection like a granny 11-28T. Nice.2. Dura-Ace Di2, electronic shifting,100 grams lighter than the current group even with a battery pack, optional remote shift buttons for time trial and triathlons, a 'crash' position that helps shield the rear derailleur from a fall, and an auto-trimming front derailleur.Courtesy : BKWWhy electronic you may ask? Will it have any advantages or will it unnecessarily complicate a good design? I'll leave a pos...
Widespread Shimano Pedal Confusion.
2008-03-18 20:16:00
One of the major tasks here at www.Tenerife-Training.net is swapping pedals. There are more pedal systems out there than CO2 molecules at the moment, and I know people are finding it all a bit too confusing. Judging by the perplexed customer responses as they inevitably bend down and spin another hitherto unknown pedal on its axis and say ...
Shimano vs Microsoft. When you?re sitting at the top, the only way is down?
2008-03-02 00:21:00
In the bicycle industry, there’s a common analogy often drawn between shimano and another well-known business monopoly, Microsoft. Both have (or had) a majority market share. Both employ ruthless business tactics. Both arguably produce products with “planned obsolescence” in mind. Both excel at introducing new products that are not backwards compatible. Of course none of ...

Shimano Tcurve Game Series
2007-10-23 12:30:00
Bought this rod more than a year ago. I think it was one of those impulse buy... :-s Have only used it once in Maldives for like an hour, pairing it with Duel. Wanted to buy an Avet Pro 30 long long time ago. But the ever emerging new models just kept on screwing my fickle fickle mind. And also bottom fishing is not really my main interest. But if I am to complete this bottom setup, I will most likely get an electric reel, Command X4. Hehehehe... Aftco Guides. Shimano Bassterra
2007-10-08 11:01:00
Shimano Bassterra Bought this rod quite a while for light casting & popping. Cheap cheap good good. Didn't want to spend too much as casting/popping is more of a side dish, with main dish being Jigging. Will mainly use this for light saltwater game at places like Pulau Sembilan, Pekan, etc etc. Will be pairing it with Daiwa Caldia Kix 4000. Should be a lot of fun with baby GTs and queenfishes. And more with tenggiris. :-p BassterraModel - S70MH. Lure wt - 7-35g. Length - 7'0''. Line wt - 12-25lb. Shimano.Quality Fuji product.
Shimano Butterfly Jigging System
2007-09-25 04:05:00
Shimano Butterfly Jigging System - Action, ReactionHISTORY OF DEEP JIGGING FISHINGIn the early 1990's Japanese anglers developed a revolutionary style of deep water jigging that changed jigging as we know it. These anglers were fishing depths as deep as 500 feet using the first generation of super lines coupled with fluorocarbon shock leaders and the original jig designs. Shimano saw the significance of these jigs, and created a new lure design called the Butterfly Jig. This lure, combined with the line and tackle, helped increase sensitivity to detect bites, and get successful hooksets, with the end result being an increase in their fish catching percentage. The Butterfly Jig catches more species of fish in more locations while giving you a new, exciting way to fish! - http://fish.shimano.comSince I'm taking steps to 'refurbish' my jig boxes and bags, decided not to limit myself to just IMAs and Evergreens. Introducing Shimano's Butterfly Jigging System; not something new in t...
Shimano Nasci 2000
2007-09-20 04:42:00
Bought this reel a month back to replaced the busted Ryobi Zauber for fresh water casting and occasional eging. Simple and nice reel. :-) Was very tempted to buy the Shimano Fireblood 1000/2500, but decided to wait for their new ARC spool lineups to pop up in the market before getting anymore spinning reels from Shimano. Been eyeing the Jackson Red Shady casting rod which is like a perfect match with the Fireblood. But...must resist resit...Shimano Nasci 2000 Some of the specs. Shimano Stella Drag Knob - Yumeya
2007-08-27 08:00:00
Posting No. 100!!!!!!!! I was actually quite excited when I saw I was at my 99th post.Yumeya - ?? - Aluminium Machine Cut Drag KnobBought this knob a month back from Plat. Finally get to fit it in the Stella few days back :-) The 1 thing I don't like about the '07 Stella is the original drag knob; looks cheap and boring. Hence the Yumeya Drag Knob. Wanted to also get the Bassart's knob for the handle, unfortunately according to Ogawa from Plat, it doesn't fit. Yumeya have some nice ones but can't seem to get them anywhere. Anyway, one thing is for sure; this drag knob will not be the last upgrade for the Stella!!! :-) Yumeya - ?? - Customized Design - Shimano The ORI vs YUMEYA ORI Yumeya, ??
Shimano Stella C3000 '07
2007-08-24 08:06:00
New Toy!!!! New Toy!!!! :-DBefore that, a bit of light on the Rod & Reel Family. The family has, and will go through some massive changes in the past and coming weeks. Shimano Tekota 500 & Daiwa Saltist 40 has left the family, along with Lemax SeaGame PE5 & Shino Amberjack PE1-3. On the waiting list out is EUPRO Exploder PE8 & PE1-3, Pioneer Tuna Stick PE3-5, and Shimano Technium 4000. So if anyone interested, do let me know so I can accelerate my 2007 Upgrading Plan. Hehehe...Going back to the the main topic, Shimano Stella C3000 2007. My drool started the day this baby was announced in the Japanese Shimano website. And when the stock finally arrived in Sykt Kepong around 4 months back, I was having 'financial doubts'. The drool was out of control. And 1 month back, when I finally gotten over my 'financial doubts', the C3000 was already sold. So that's another month of waiting and drooling. The moment I got a call from Sykt Kepong few days back, I was at their door ste...
Hot New Shimano Reel
2007-08-03 15:13:00
Within in the past few days I have seen several bass fishing tackle online stores advertising a brand new Shimano Baitcaster. Its the Shimano Core Reel, it looks really sweet and I find myself drawn to it like a moth to a flame....Shimano Core Baitcasting ReelUltra-Lightweight Magnesium Frame and SideplateUltra-Lightweight A7075 Aluminum Spool ConstructionMagnumlite Spool Design This spool provides extremely low startup inertia for increased line control and casting performance even when using lightweight baits or lures. This is accomplished through using lightweight aluminum alloys and a unique design that moves the mass of the spool outward.S A-RB (Anti-Rust Bearings) are specially treated stainless steel ball bearings that are at least 10 times more corrosion resistant than standard stainless steel ball bearings.A-RB Roller BearingHigh Efficiency Gearing (HEG) is not only the oversized gears, but also includes the setplate and sideplate, which allow for a high speed retrieve whil...
Shimano Stella 8000 - Line Cap
2007-07-16 05:29:00
Initially, I wanted to load the reel with 30lbs line. But after much consideration and research, I decided on 40lbs. And I choosed Kitaya Batline, #3.0, 400 metres. The beauty of this line is definitely the thin diameter and also the durability. I have the same line on my Accurate 665 and after several trips, the colour is still pitch black and no fur. But there is a downside. It's very very noisy, especially with spinning reels. Not that it bugs me as most of the time, I'll have my earphones with my MP3 player. Hehehehehe....good luck to those jigging beside me...Another reason I choosed this line is also the fact that they sell it by spool of 100 metres. Unlike others like Power Pro or Berkley or YGK, etc. they come in spools of 300/500 yds. So very often, you end up with too much or too little.400 metres of 40lbs braid. Perfect fit! My FG knot :-) Kitaya Batline - Power Up Dyneema
Shimano Caranx Kaibutsu - Light Pleasure
2007-07-06 10:29:00
YEAH!! New popping rod :-) Shimano Caranx Kaibutsu - Light Pleasure. Matched with Shimano Stella 8000. May match it with the Daiwa Caldia Kix 4000, but looks really weird as although the rod is only PE 2-4, it's looks and feels too strong. Anyway, will be bringing it to Rompin end of the month to pop for sail and GT. PE 2-4. Just nice. Anything heavier, it'll go to my Extreme Anglers Custom PE7.Shimano Caranx KAIBUTSU - Wiki the word 'Caranx' and you'll get a bunch of fish names like GT, Mackerel, Kingfish, etc. Webster's will give 'A genus of fishes, common on the Atlantic coast, including the yellow or golden mackerel.' Kaibutsu simply means ??/ Monster. Some simple & nice details here...and there...No gimbal...may get it change like how i changed my Tenryu JigZam and G-craft. More details... EXTREME SALTWATER GAME! :-D
Shimano Stella 8000 FA
2007-05-23 08:37:00
I can't believe it...it has been 37 days since my last fishing trip!! This is by far the longest gap ever in the past 1 year plus!! :-(And only 1 posting in the entire month!??! And even that also non-fishing related... :-(Anyway, it has been a really busy month with work and stuffs. Hence didn't really have time for fishing or any fishing related activities. Fortunately, the future is all bright and exciting!! I've got a trip confirmed to Burma Banks, Myanmar December this year, Spratly next year April, and possible Lucornia next year March. So it's ALL good!! :-DLets go back to the MAIN topic....SHIMANO STELLA 8000!!! kekekekkeke....Been waiting for this baby to arrive at Sykt Kepong for over a month! They have the SWs but I didn't want to pay another RM800 just to get a spare spool. Would rather use the money to pimp my reel. So 2 nights back, finally got a call from KC of Sykt Kepong - KC - 'Ken! Your FA arrived already! How?'KY - 'Really ah? What time is it now?' (was ...

Shimano Calcutta Conquest 200
2007-03-30 02:15:00
1st new member of the 2007 family!! The much much much anticipated one :-)Ever since I bought my first baitcaster a while back (Shimano Cardiff 100) I've loooooong for a Conquest. Simply love the holes all over the reels. It's just so different compared to the many baitcasters out there. So last night was maximum 'kodak moment' snapping pictures of my new baby from all angles!!The moment of truth... :-D 14lbs Stren Super Braid. Have never used this before. Wanted to get the Power Pro Phantom Red but they don't have stock. The entire package. 'Leather' bag, oil, pins for the variable brake system, manuals and most importantly, THE Shimano Calcutta CONQUEST!! :-)Shimano Calcutta Conquest 200 :-) Holes...holes...holes... HOLES everywhere!!! Temporarily matched with my Berkley Series One. The knob to loosen the side plate. Pops out once the knob is loosen. The Shimano Variable Brake System, SVS. Loosen the cap, and out comes the spool Seriously can't wait to cast it and land so...
Shimano Technium 4000
2006-11-21 06:49:00
Use this for light jigging and casting. Loaded with 200m of 30lbs P-Line braid. Matched with Shino Amber Jack 5'6'' PE 1-3 or EU Pro Exploder 5'9'' PE 1-3. Good value for money. Comes with spare spool somemore :-o
Shimano Tekota 500 LC
2006-11-21 06:43:00
Hmm...nothing to say bout this reel. Have yet to use it :-pStill trying to figure out why I bought it...Doesn't even have a rod to match with :-s
Shimano Navi 8000 PG
2006-11-21 06:35:00
Matched with Tenryu JigZam PE 3-5, 5'7''. Mainly for medium jigging; below 200gms. Use it occasionally for medium casting. So far so good. The only downside of this reel is the drag knob, which is a bit too sensitive; as in the ratio of turn and drag poundage. Can be dangerous if you have panicky fingers and a speeding fish peeling lines. Tendency to overlock the drag is there.
Shimano Cardiff 100 | Berkley Series One
2006-11-21 05:55:00
Loaded the reel with 20lbs Kumo braided. Good reel. As the chinese saying goes, 'Cheap Cheap Good Good'. Love the rod. Which is why I bought the same series in spinning soon after, but different poundage. This is 12lbs-20lbs and the spinning one is 10lbs lower.
