New Shooto Site
2008-06-06 15:54:00
Shooto has updated their site, the URL to the new site is: http://www.shootodenshou.com/ .It looks like most of the information is still on the old site, but lets see if they can update some more. This is of course in relation to the 20th anniversary. There are some videos on the site, I recommend the one in the middle. You can have a good look at Tamura's eye after his fight with Rumina Sato.

"Wicky" Akiyo Nishiura
2008-06-05 03:58:00
When Shooto presented "Wicky" Akiyo as a participant of their July 18 I was very excited. But I realize a lot of people might not be familiar with his work, and if you are, there is nothing wrong with seeing some more. He is a very unorthodox fighter and always entertaining. So here are some of his fights:- vs. Hiroshi Nakamura- vs. Kim Jong Man - vs. Daisuke Ishizawa

7/18 Shooto - Tradition 02 - Wicky Akio Participating
2008-06-04 14:49:00
Shooto have added to their Tradition 02 card. I have made a comment earlier about value for money in these events, and as an audience I have to say that this card looks like very good value, with a ringside seat costing 10,000 yen!Today it was announced that Wicky Akiyo will be participating. Earlier it has been announced that "BJ" Kojima is fighting also, so this should be a very good event if you add that to the fights that are already announced.Shinji Sasaki 6-2-0 vs. 8-7-2 Jin KazetaTakehiro Harusaki 5-3-0 vs. 4-0-1 Shinya MurofushiTeriyuki Matsumoto 5-2-0 vs. 4-4-1 Takahiro HosoiAkihiro Yamazaki 9-2-1 vs. 1-0-0 Naoko HirayamaNaohiro Mizuno 2-1-0 vs. 1-0-0 Daiki TsuchiyaRookie Tournament Round 2:Daiki Tsuchiya 1-0-0 vs. 2-1-0 Naohiro MizunoYuta Nezu 4-1-0 vs. 1-0-0 Haruo OchiParticipating:Shinichi "BJ" Kojima 8-3-4"Wicky" Akiyo Nishiura 7-2-1

Shooting Disc 5 will be held in Shinjuku Face and this is the card for the event on June 21. I think this looks like an interesting card. 2008-05-24 09:46:00
Shooto has announced some fights for the 2nd Tradition event, this is to celebrate their 20th anniversary and they put on some very good fights in the first event. For this, the ticket prices are cheaper, but the fights announced look interesting. Personally I am looking forward to seeing Murofushi, I believe this will be his first Class A fight and I think he has been very good in his previous fights.Shinji Sasaki 6-2-0 vs. 8-7-2 Jin KazetaTakehiro Harusaki 5-3-0 vs. 4-0-1 Shinya MurofushiTeriyuki Matsumoto 5-2-0 vs. 4-4-1 Takahiro HosoiRookie Tournament Round 2:Daiki Tsuchiya 1-0-0 vs. 2-1-0 Naohiro MizunoYuta Nezu 4-1-0 vs. 1-0-0 Haruo Ochi

2008-03-28 16:32:00
Shooto put on a great event tonight. There were less fights on that card than I am used to, and unfortunately I missed most of it. But I was assured that this was a great event! The main event was VERY close. Kadowaki pulled out a very thin decision honestly, I expected it to be a draw. However, for once the Japanese fans cheered on their favorite (I have never experienced anything like it in Japan). Kadowaki is the new camp!In the fight that I was really looking forward to, Baret Yoshida never really got to use his guard. Hioki was just too strong and won a first round TKO.Update: Totally forgot to mention when I wrote this, Rumina Sato is currently without an opponent for the May Shooto event. Yesterday he said he would like to fight Hatsu Hioki. That would be a great fight, lets see if Shooto can make it happen.Hideki Kadowaki Def. Akitoshi Tamura by decision 2-0 Masakatsu Ueda Def. For this event, there are more losses than wins on the card... Still I want to take you back to 2003 Katsuhisa Akasaki stepped into the ring against a debutant Nat McIntyre. At the time Akasaki's record was 0-10-1. Before the night was over, Akasaki had secured his first win. Nat McIntyre has not lost since (I would like to see him back here!). The 21st, Akasaki is facing Matsufuji from Fukuoka (his record isnt much better...). I always cheer for fighters from Fukuoka, its where I studied Japanese. If you go to this event, cheer for these guys, they both deserve it.This card I am actually more excited about the rookie tournament than the main-card, but this will be an event where some fighters will get an hard earned victory. 3/28 Shooto - Back to Our Roots 8
2008-03-09 12:19:00
I have a lot of Shooto cards to catch up on... Truth is that there are SO many of them this month. This will one of the big ones. Shooto has a lot of passionate fans and they have a lot of great fighters, this event we will see more than a few of them in action. The main event will be for the Lightweight title. As has been discussed earlier, rumor is that Antonio Carvalho gave up this title shot to fight in the Cage Force tournament. The title fight has gone to Hideki Kadowaki. Kadowaki will not be an easy opponent for Tamura thought, in his last fight he choked out Rumina Sato and he is very strong on the ground. Other names to take note of Baret Yoshida (returning after almost 5 years), Hatsu Hioki, Koetsu Okazaki (let's see if he can finish Ueda, all his fights seem to go the distance), Masakatsu Ueda and "Lion" Takeshi. There are more fights to be announced, this will be a very good event!Main Event:Akitoshi Tamura 11-5-2 vs. 12-7-2 Hideki KadowakiMasakatsu Ueda 7-0-1 vs. 5-0-1 K...
5/3 Shooto - Road to 20th Anniversary
2008-03-08 11:57:00
Shooto has announced what promises to be a very good event. Probably their main event for the year. In 2007, the best card Shooto put up (IMO) was Back to Our Roots 6. Let's hope this event will be as good. Considering the Back to Our Roots 8 card, this looks like it will be a good Shooto year.Currently, only 2 fights are announced. It is also known that Shooto star Rumina Sato will fight in this event. The main event will be the welterweight title fight between Takashi Nakakura and Ganjo Tentsuku.Confirmed:Takashi Nakakura 9-2-1 vs. 9-2-2 Ganjo TentsukuRyuichi Miki 6-2-2 vs. 14-3-5 Yasuhiro UrushitaniParticipating:Rumina- Sato 24-11-2

3/28 Shooto - Back to Our Roots 8 - Baret Yoshida Returns!
2008-02-08 14:07:00
The Shooto card for March 28 is looking very good. Today they confirmed Baret Yoshida's opponent for his return to shooto after 6 years absence. No doubt the fans will be looking forward to seeing him back. His opponent for the return? None other than Hatsu Hioki. This will be a fight I am really looking forward to! Also on the card, Akitoshi Tamura puts his title on the line against Hideki Kadowaki. Kadowaki is no easy opponent, last year he choked out Rumina Sato with a Kadowaki-special. Can he do it agian?Other fighters to mention, Tenkei Fujimiya, Lion Takeshi, Masakatsu Ueda (fighting Koetsu Okazaki!). I thought Back to Our Roots 7 was a pretty average card, but this one is awesome!Main Event:Akitoshi Tamura 11-5-2 vs. 12-7-2 Hideki KadowakiBaret Yoshida 5-5-1 vs. 14-3-1 Hatsu HiokiMasakatsu Ueda 7-0-1 vs. 5-0-1 Koetsu OkazakiTenkei Fujimiya 7-2-2 vs. Hiroshi NakamuraRookie Lightweight Tournament:Kenichiro Marui vs. Hiroshige TanakaAlso participating:"Lion" Takeshi Inoue 14-2-0
2/23 Shooto - Shooting Disc 4

Shooto will have their Shooting Disc 4 event in Shinjuku Face later this month. The main event should be a very good fight. Also on the card, Hiroki Sato, the winner of last year's light-heavyweight rookie tournament, will try to go 4-0 against Murayama.Main-Event:Yuki Shoujou 7-3-2 vs. 18-4-3 Mamoru YamaguchiAkihiro Murayama 8-2-4 vs. 3-0-0 Hiroki SatoRyuichi Miki 5-2-2 vs. 2-2-0 Kenji HasoyaShintaro Ishiwatari 4-1-2 vs. 3-1-0 Kazuhiro ItoMasatoshi Kobayashi 2-5-0 vs. 2-4-0 Tomonori TaniguchiTakehiro Ishii ?Tiger? 5-5-2 vs. 2-2-0 Noboru ?Shinpei? Shooto 2008 Rookie Tournament Set-up
2008-02-05 14:49:00
No other post has taken me longer to prepare, so I hope it works out once I post this... Anyway, here is the setup for the 2008 Rookie tournament. I have update the fight results for the fights that are already held, and the dates for the fights where it is determined. No doubt these tournaments will provide some good entertainment through the year. The setup I have here is pretty much taken from the shooto site, just updated so I could get it in here.
