Bricks-and-clicks retailers delivered soaring online sales up by 35 per cent to £14.7bn in 2007 – a rate of growth almost 10 times higher than that of the total retail market. Verdict said the convenience of the internet continues to be the main driver of sales, but improved retail websites and increased broadband penetration also fuelled the boom. The number can be affected by several factors, including AOL browsers (for some reason, they affect this count), spiders and bots crawling your site, and other things. The AP reports about Cook County’s taxes: Among the things Chicago wants to be known for, having the highest total sales taxes of any major U.S. city is probably not one of them. But that’s what it’s getting after the Cook County Board voted Saturday to double the county sales tax to 1.75 percent.
