This awesome view was from across the water. You can see how far away I was when the shuttle was launched. I really didn't think I was going to be able to see it. It just proves the magnitude of a launch.Awesome regards,Debbiehttp://DMGartstud-io.comhttp://dmgartstudio.blogs-pot.comOriginal, Modern, Fine Art By Contemporary Artist, Pamela Miller. Shuttle launch pad damaged during Discovery’s liftoff
2008-06-10 22:09:00
Launch pad 39A at the Kennedy Space Center suffered extensive damage during the shuttle Discovery’s blastoff Saturday, NASA officials say. Photographs by news media photographers and others provided by NASA sources show heat-resistant bricks lining large sections of the “flame trench” wall beneath the shuttle’s mobile launch platform were blown out by Discovery’s booster exhaust, littering the area behind the pad and damaging a perimeter fence. More pictures can be found here.

Space Shuttle Launch
2008-06-06 05:29:00
A new shuttle launch already. It seems just the other week there was a launch and a record time in space, with new benchmarks made in space walks and tasks achieved. The frequency of the shuttle flights and the technology being poured into the space station is an amazing feat. And the shuttle design itself is surprisingly old 17 Zoom(s)

Space Shuttle Launches Largest ISS Lab Yet
2008-05-31 23:33:00
At 5:02pm, the shuttle launched into space carrying with it the $1 billion Kibo laboratory. The laboratory will be the largest room in the ISS yet, and is approximately the size of a tour bus. Kibo, Japanese for "Hope", is culmination of 20 years of research and development by the Japanese. This section marks the unofficial start of a collaboration that is turning out to be very international indeed. It is a great symbol of Japanese pride, and should be.I personally am very excited for the Kibo, and that the Japanese are coming aboard the ISS in a very big way. As an American citizen, I recognize that we sometimes have a severe superiority complex about our nation being the "best", but I'm excited for the Japanese, because to make true progress in the realm of space travel we need to work globally and not nationally.Congratulations Japan!

Toilet Pump Flown to Cape Canaveral...astronauts told to "just hold it
2008-05-30 01:00:00
So.  heh.  Did someone have trouble reading the directions? The toilet is breaking up on the space station and there is only one.  There isn't a hardware store nearby where you can go buy a new wax seal you know,.  If you need a replacement for it, it's gotta be flown up there. CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. - After being rushed in from Russia, a toilet pump was loaded into space shuttle Discovery on Thursday just in time for this weekend's liftoff to the international space station, where the lone commode is acting up. - [yahoo news] I wonder if it was small enough to be considered carry-on or if they had to check it. The toilet isn't completely broken luckily.  Just the urine pump. While the three space station residents are eager to see the Kibo lab, the bathroom situation has become a more pressing issue. For the past week, the two Russian and one American men have had to periodically manually flush the urine side of the Russian-built toilet. T...

Buran Space Shuttle Floats Along the Rhine [Space Fleet]
2008-04-13 03:30:00
The Buran space shuttle was once the apple of the Soviet space fleet's eye. Unfortunately, it has now been reduced to floating peacefully down the river Rhine, where it will eventually come to rest at the Technik Museum Speyer in Mannheim, Germany. The great shuttle took to the skies only once during an unmanned test flight, but two decades later, the modern relic has gone the way of a crushed Buzz Lightyear—it's realized it can't fly, but at least it can put on one hell of an exhibition. Good on you, Buran. The images of the final float look stunning, and the video of the event, which is set against some seriously melancholic music, makes the whole event look like a sad and dignified funeral procession. Check out the pictures in the gallery below, then jump in to see the clip. Warning: have your hankies ready. galleryPost('burgi', 3, ''); [Siberian Light]
Shuttle Introduces HD Media Centre SFF PC
2008-04-12 02:30:00
Shuttle has launched its first AMD-based HD-compatible Mini-PC. What?s so neat about the aluminium-encased Shuttle XPC G5 6801M is that it can play high-resolution films from both Blu-ray and HD DVD (remember that?) media. A single HDMI cable transfers top quality image and sound to modern flat-screen televisions for playback, thereby avoiding any expensive installation costs. The ...

Shuttle Pro v2 Review

For those working in video and digital media production, it's very easy to get carried away with the technology. Faster CPU's, more RAM, bigger monitor screens, the latest software suites - these are all very nice but so often it's not these things that really make the difference in our day to day work. Very often it`s the little things that make for greater efficiency in production. It's this concept that a device such as Contour Design's Contour Design Contour Shuttle Pro2 Multimedia Controller (SPROV2)JR.com-$79.99NextWareho-use-$96.92ANTOnline-$77.55');"- onmouseout="setTimeout('hideLay-er()',500);" class="hotlink2">ShuttlePro seeks to invoke. The rest of this review for DMN can be read here.

Russian Space Shuttle Won?t Be Flying In Germany, Either

The Russian Shuttle Superior to the NASA Space Shuttle!
2008-04-04 23:58:00
Those pesky Soviets...er Russians and there socialist propoganda...er democratic...er dictatorial...er whatever they've got for a government and its pesky propoganda. The Buran  shuttle itself, otherwise, is quite similar to the U.S shuttle, it is, however, more advanced in the sense that unlike the U.S shuttle it can be piloted unmanned solely by computer, completing even complex two week missions with no-one on board. To summarise... Buran-Energia was in many ways an improvement on the US Shuttle system, with a much more flexible design, even if sadly, it is not the system that is currently in operation. The U.S. Shuttle System Vs. Russia's Buran-Energia heh. eh... Wait.  I got lost there somewhere.  Doesn't something have to actually DO something before it can be declared better?  I mean we are up to Shuttle Mission STS-124.  That should count for something don't you think.  Throw me a bone here people.
