2008-04-03 02:25:00
None of the three entities in my title have anything to do with each other. . . then again maybe they do? Is it possible that crooks research other crooks to learn new scams, methods, or pitfalls to avoid? Former convicts often say that prison is like college for crooks. Has the internet become ...

I've been tagged by Nessa a couple of days ago and yesterday I wanted to write 7 things about myself, but I didn't have the time yet; sorry if I'm a bit late, here I go and please don't laugh too loud :))) !!!!When I'm on the highway, I use to read the origin of the plates on cars/coaches/trucks, that's why I love to dream about those destinations and the route which drivers did to be there where they are; When I wake up, I use to come straight to the pc to check my email box, even before having breakfast, internet is my drug; When I'm alone, I often postpone the wash of my dirty dishes, it's something I really hate, I think soon I'll need a dishwasher to avoid me to think about them;Since I've been to Lourdes and Fatima, I'm obsessed by Mary's apparitions in the world, especially about Medjugorje and everything which has something to do with it;I can't read a book that I already think about what to read later, sometimes it happens that I can't finish a book that I'm al...
In Sicily, Women Are More Dangerous Than Shotguns

Guest Post by Deb from Missives from Suburbia I possess just enough vanity to beg Megan for a guest slot here.  However, I'm not so vain that for one moment I would think Velveteen Mind and Missives From Suburbia share any crossover traffic, because she is a high-priestess of blogging, and I... well, I could only hope to be one of her minion as I cut my teeth on this mighty medium.  Suffice to say, even though GoBloMeMoFo is kicking my patooty on my own blog, I couldn't resist the opportunity to hog a little of Megan's spotlight.  (I'm about as subtle as a ham and cheese sandwich in real life, too.)  So thanks for putting up with me today.  I promise she'll find someone more talented tomorrow to fill in for her. Until then, you're stuck with me, and the most fascinating thing happening in my life right now is a move.  Yep, we're moving from St. Paul to Minneapolis.  Exciting, no?  Kind of makes you want to run right over to my blog ...

Christ Pantocrator, The Cathedral of Monreale, Sicily
2007-05-23 10:14:00
The Cathedral of Monreale ("Santa Maria la Nuova,") in Monreale, Sicily, was begun about 1170 by William II, one of the Norman kings in northern Sicily. In 1182 the church, dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, was, by a bull of Pope Lucius III, elevated to the rank of a metropolitan cathedral. The mosaics of Monreale's duomo are grandiose, covering practically every inch of the vast interior. They extend to 6,500 m² or 68,220 square feet of glittering gold mosaics. It is the largest cycle of Byzantine mosaics in Italy.Completed in 1182, the rich mosaic cycle adorning the walls shows scenes from the Old Testament (nave), Teachings of Christ (aisles, choir, and transepts), and the Gospels (side apses). The design, execution and choice of subjects all appear to be of Byzantine origin, the subjects being selected from the Menologium drawn up by the emperor Basil II in the 10th century. The cathedral's Latin-cross plan focuses on the imposing mosaic of Christ Pantocrator (the a...
