2009-07-22 03:29:00 In much the same way that you would keep a diary of your asthma symptoms, I came up with the concept of posting my daily breathing parameters as a way of letting others out there know, (i.e. my doctors, family and fellow asthmatics), on how my lungs are doing on any particular day. I often forget though, that while most chronic lungers know what this stuff means, a lot of people who visit my blog probably don’t. So, if anyone is interested, here’s a little explanation of what all that junk means…. I hope it’s not too confusing. There are 4 major components to my daily breathing stats: a Peak flow measurement , an FEV1 measurement a Breathing Update ( which is basically a subjective description of how I’m breathing on that particular day, and lastly, a section labeled Todays Fitness Activity where I jot down what, if any, exercise I did for that day. 2008-04-13 23:52:00 Vista has gadgets similar to what is found on the Mac and in Yahoo Widgets (formerly Konfabulator). For some reason, they have not been well received which (again) is a bit puzzling to me since they work quite well and are easy to author. The quality of a gadgets themselves is not always up to par with their Mac and Yahoo counterparts but that's not a limitation of the platform. My favorite gadgets are the NPR Listener, AdSense Monitor and Wireless Status Meter. Gadgets are really easy to write. There's no compilation and the installation is as simple as placing the files in a special folder. To illustrate the point, I wrote a simple stopwatch gadget. The gadget is simplicity itself. Click to start, click to stop, double-click to reset. No buttons or countdowns or lap times. Nothing to confuse a user like myself.
