Sightseeing By Citroën
2009-06-09 07:01:00
No, this is not a mirage. It's not a frame from an old science-fiction film either. The French automaker Citroën provided the U55 truck chassis, and the bodies were designed by the French coachbuilder Currus. Together, the Citroën U55 Currus Cityrama gave sightseers a clear view of Paris during th
Sardinian sightseeing by the sea
2008-06-09 00:00:00
For one of Europe's most amazing marine wonders, head to Sardinia's Grotta di Nettuno. The caves can be reached by boat or down a steep cliff-side staircase of 656 steps. From there, follow the natural entrance to a vast internal salt lake stretching 120 metres across.Continuous sea movements in the caves have formed mysterious chambers and caverns around the lake but the water feature itself is worth a look for the unusual columns rising out of it.In the 18th century the complex was discovered and used by local fishermen. It was also the home of the rare monk seal, now extinct. All visits to the Grotta are part of hourly tours lasting approximately 45 minutes. They include English and Italian commentary and occasionally French and German translation too.For other sightseeing ideas in Sardinia, pay a visit to Alghero's medieval walled centre and splash out on a horse-drawn carriage tour of its picturesque narrow streets.
Gotta go to Gotland
2008-06-09 00:00:00
Spend your summer enjoying a Baltic beach party off the picturesque Swedish coast.Gotland - the largest of the country's many islands - boasts 50 miles of coastline and a host of unspoilt white-sand beaches.Soaking up Scandinavia's long daylight hours on Kallbadhuset is a great way to spend the afternoon, with resident DJs providing a soundtrack to your summer from the nearby bar-restaurant complex. In the evenings swap flip-flops for dancing shoes in Visby's old town. The plethora of great bars and clubs here attract hoards of Stockholmers too, especially during vacation period in July.Top venues include Burmeister and Gutekallaren.Away from the party scene, Visby offers a good selection of sights for culture vultures too. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the town is surrounded by a magnificent three-kilometre wall dating from the end of the 13th century. The beautifully preserved medieval churches inside are definitely worth visiting.
A heritage holiday in Bratislava
2008-06-06 00:00:00
Swot up on Slovakian history with a tour of Bratislava's most renowned Jewish heritage sights. The city was once one of the most prominent centres of traditional Jewish learning in Europe, with rabbi and scholar Chatam Sofer leading the field in the late 18th/early 19th centuries. His tomb, part of a former Jewish cemetery dating back from 1670 to 1847, has since become a monument to Jewish learning and a popular place of pilgrimage at the foothills of the Small Carpathian Mountains between the Danube and Bratislava Castle.Meanwhile, the city's Museum of Jewish Culture charts a more tragic period of Jewish history with moving exhibits about the community that was decimated during World War II.A cross commemorates them under the Staromestska highway to the pedestrian old town and there is also a small Holocaust Memorial near where the old synagogue once stood.Bratislava's Municipal Museum provides a more general overview of the capital's history.

Lots Of Sightseeing...
2008-02-27 09:31:00
Last year when my parents were here it was quite a mad few weeks trying to fit in as much as we could and show them everything here that was wonderful - and anyone who reads this blog or lives here knows that's a lot of stuff! So this year we decided to move at a slower pace, our days don't really start till lunch time making sure every morning we fit in a BBQ breakfast! It's been a lovely week already of just spending quality time together. So after a leisurely weekend Monday rolled round in a blink of an eye, making the most of it we headed to Te Papa. I have always liked Te Papa (well apart from peak tourist season!), its an interactive world of pure amazement, I'm always proud to show it off. We had a wonderful time viewing all the different areas, my parents taking time out with Bethany (whilst I hung out at the cafe in peace) to view the new Whales TohorÄ exhibition. We took a fantastic trip back in time at the old junk shop that comes to life at Golden Days, and had a wo...

How you should do Ayers Rock Resort and Uluru differently
