Snappy Answers to Silly Questions with CRIMINAL MINDS Star AJ COOK
2012-01-25 18:22:00
As CRIMINAL MINDS gears up for its 150th episode tonight on CBS (CTV 2 in Canada), we here at theTVaddict.com thought fans might appreciate getting to spend a little more one-on-one time with a key ingredient to the show’s astounding success. Which is why, when given the opportunity to chat with star AJ Cook yesterday — whose character of media liaison turned profiler JJ Jareau is responsible for having taken fans on quite an interesting journey over the course of the show’s 150 episodes — we jumped at the chance. The result, a handful of snappy answers to some silly questions that may-or-may-not reveal the CRIMINAL MINDS cast member guilty of spending far too much time scarfing down grilled cheese sandwiches at Craft Services. But hey, don’t take our word for it — find out for yourself which member of the BAU is most likely to ruin a take by making AJ Cook laugh — after the jump. After 127 spend playing the same character, what keeps you excited about wa...

2012-01-24 04:08:00
Sunlight, I’ve always believed, is the best disinfectant. We should not hinder people from voicing their opinions, no matter how hateful because only when they voice them can we counter them.  Today, in her inimitable style, Amy Alkon, an Angelena diva who quips that if she “were any more gay-friendly,” she’d “have a girlfriend instead ...

Tiger Woods determined not to dethrone Couples as King of "Silly Season"
2011-08-31 16:01:00
It has often been stated that Fred Couples, considered the "King of the Silly Season" and dominant skins player, became "Champion" of the off-season due to debilitating back problems. In spite of being sidelined for much of 2007 and 2011, Couples still managed to make the cut at the '07 Masters and won the 2011 Senior Players Championship after treatment in Germany.   That's determination folks. Tiger Woods, in my opinion, is now waging war against his physical ailments, as did Couples, and is looking forward to the challange and to putting 'W's alongside his name once more. Woods has said he's "anxious to compete." Within the next few months, Tiger Woods will be testing the waters to see how his knee/achilles and golf game in general are progressing with an eye on helping the Americans win the Presidents Cup chalice. Does Couples believe Woods can help lead President's Cup 'Team USA' to victory, knowing as he does of the incapacitating nature of Woods' injury?...

Frightening myself silly

…is not ideal for any afternoon, let alone a nice, lazy, sunny Sunday. But, taking the road less travelled ? ie paths (plural) in a dense wood (Angmering Park Estate) ? finding myself miles away from the natural returning point, and then being on the wrong side of a very busy A27, is how I ...
2011 NASCAR Silly Season: What about Carl Edwards to JGR and Joey Logano to
2011-06-28 23:27:00
As the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season nears the half way point, this is the time of the year that rumors and speculation begins to ramp up on who is going to go where in 2012 and beyond. However unlike in past seasons where major drivers have made big moves like in 2007 where Dale Earnhardt Jr., joined Hendrick Motorsports for 2008, in 2008, Tony Stewart on the move to his own team, Stewart-Haas Racing for 2009. Or even more, in 2009, where Jamie McMurray which ended up at EGR for 2010 and of course last year (2010), where Kasey Kahne that right now is at Red Bull Racing, but signed a deal with Hendrick Motorsports for the #5 ride in 2012. For 2012, no big named drivers look to be making any big moves for there future. I mean, Clint Bowyer says him staying at RCR is his number 1 choice. I haven?t heard too much in the way of Ryan Newman, it looks like Stewart-Haas Racing will be his home for another few years as well as Juan Montoya, he looks to be re-signing with EGR. Of ...
Another silly NCAA rule
2011-04-29 01:09:00
John Shurna is testing the NBA waters right now, but he might be the last Northwestern player to ever do so. Why? Because today the NCAA passed another rule that benefits the coaches and not the student-athlete.The NCAA has moved the deadline to withdraw from the NBA Draft and come back to school up to the first day of the spring signing period. It's now pointless to declare for the draft unless you're certain you want to be in it. Players like Shurna and Butler's Shelvin Mack, just aren't going to have time to go through the process anymore....

Silly kid, rabbits are for tricks

I am rarely speechless. Oh sure, there was that time when doctors told me I was carrying twins and I had nothing to say for at least ten minutes. STARTing Silly Season in Treaty Ratification
2010-12-20 06:49:00
It appears as if the United States Senate is falling into silly season over ratification or rejection of the START nuclear arms treaty with Russia. Of course, that's assuming the Senate wasn't already in silly season over other issues. Now, Republicans are against the treaty not because it "straitjackets the United States missile defense capabilities," but because it only focuses on reducing strategic nuclear weapons and not tactical nuclear weapons. In other words, they were against before because it was bad, but now they're against because it's not good enough. Excuse me while I cough because of all the hypocrisy in the air....
Check in Apps ? Silly Fad or Hidden Opportunity?
2010-12-05 10:09:00
You stroll into a restaurant, get seated at your table, chatting with friends. You bring up your mobile phone and load up Foursquare, GoWalla, or Facebook Places and "Check in". Now all your contacts on these networks and/or your Facebook friends know you are enjoying a nice orange chicken at P.F. Chang's. But does anyone really care? And as a marketer, do you really care about the people who are doing this?
The Silly Run
2010-11-05 17:10:00
"Do the silly run, Daddy," she says.Every morning, we drop K off at the commuter rail station. As he leaves the car, the silly run is often requested. My husband then morphs into what I can only liken to a rocking chair with boat propellers. His arms fly out like airplane wings. His lower legs rotate at the knee joints and spin at odd angles. He zig zags, serpentine in great S curves past expressionless commuters and motionless people quietly waiting for the bus.Inside the car, there is laughing and sometimes applause. He'll pause, halfway to the station entrance and throw kisses back towards us.K is normally quiet and mild mannered. He's an introvert. He's shy.I hope my kids remember his silly run long after he's gone.It is a true act of love.
The Silly Putty Image Capture Mold?

'24' Returns to Seriously Silly Form
2010-01-28 14:23:00
Photo courtesy FOXI'm a pretty epic fan of the hit FOX drama '24,' and my roommate Liam and I have watched every episode so far this season in a state of supreme bliss. However, I used to like '24' because I thought it was a good show. As late as Season 5, I was convinced that '24' represented the next evolutionary phase of the hour-long dramatic television serial and offered a haunting critique on our times. However, over the last four years, spanning Seasons 6, 7 and now 8, I've come to realize that '24' is the single silliest motherf***ing thing ever to grace a television screen, but I love it all the same. It's kind of like one...

Silly asthma questions
2009-06-24 17:33:00
As asked by Physicians when I’m in the hospital and ranked in order of dislike. ( I’m sure my fellow lungers can relate) #1) What triggered your asthma attack this time? #2) Why does your asthma get so bad? #3) Do you think anxiety makes your asthma worse? #4) Do you know how to check your peak flows ? #5) What can we do to keep you out of the hospital? #6) Have you ever been intubated for your asthma? #7) Why did you wait so long to come in for treatment? And this is how I usually answer them. #1) I don’t know. #2) I have bad asthma. #3) Suffocating to death tends to make me a little anxious . #4) I know more about pulmonary functions then you can ever hope to know. #5) How about taking care of me when I’m NOT sick. #6) I hold the worlds record. #7) Because I hate answering stupid questions like these. Do you detect a little sarcasm?

Too Serious For The Trib, Too Silly For Catalyst
2009-06-24 15:27:00
Some of the folks in new media land are fascinated by my efforts to bridge nonprofit and for-profit blog worlds, and if that interests you at all then you will want to check out this interview I did at BeatBlogging.org (Russo bringing District 299 to Tribune's ChicagoNow). "While it may seem paradoxical that Russo's work would fit in on a both a serious education site and an aggressive new media site, it's really more a testament to how Russo is able to take a serious topic and make it interesting and conversational." I hope so, but we'll see.  It's only been a few days. ...
Boycott the Census? That's silly.
2009-06-22 15:00:00
We're coming up on 2010 and that means it's time for the U.S. census. But there is a group of evangelical pastors telling undocumented immigrants they shouldn't be counted, according to a recent story in the Los Angeles Times. They are doing this as a form of reverse protest to call on the Obama Administration to push for comprehensive immigration reform.Huh? Yes. That's right. They want undocumented immigrants to have the opportunity to legalize but they don't want them counted in the U.S. census. It doesn't make any sense to me either. So I called up Flavia Jimenez with the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights and asked her what she thought. She is the coordinator of their upcoming census...

In the months since, he has shown us time and again why he was the wrong choice for this critical post."This week's news on the AIG bonus scandal is but the latest fiasco under his watch and he has lost the confidence of the American people."Quite simply, the Timothy Geithner experience has been a disaster. The Treasury Department is in disarray. Taxpayer dollars are being wasted. America's economy hangs in the balance. America needs and deserves a Treasury Secretary who can truly lead us forward."Timothy Geithner should either resign or be fired for the good of the country, and President Obama should nominate a new Treasury Secretary with the experience and leadership skills America deserves."Far be it for me to defend Treasury Secr...

Friday, December 12th, 2008: The second snowfall and buying silly things in
2008-12-12 15:31:00
What I think:The second snowfall, errm, fell on Helsingborg. You may remember my post about the first one of this season. Some mystery joker, who probably lives in the building opposite ours, "wrote" in the snow.It appears that this may now be a regular occurrence, as I just looked out the window a few minutes ago and saw this:Yes, it's the word SEN upside-down. This is a bit more cryptic than the "STFU OMFG" we saw last time. Sen is Swedish for "late", but it's also commonly used as a shortened version of senare, which means later. (Here's a little Swedish lesson for you: sen, senare, senast mean "late", "later", "latest", respectively. Educational blog, or what!?)While I did indeed wonder why someone would want to write "STFU" and "OMFG" in the snow, I could almost see the point. I took as a kind of a "No way! It can't be snowing, get outta here!" type of thing. But this one's got me baffled. Is it some kind of message to one of my neighbours (US/CAN: neighbors) across the way...

How Silly Putty Was Invented
2008-11-20 04:38:00
Silly Putty was accidentally invented by James Wright of General Electric when he dropped boric acid into silicone oil. He was looking for a substitute for artificial rubber. GE supplied the newly discovered dilatant compound to researchers around the world. None found a use for it, but they all loved playing with it. [wikipedia]
