Twitter = Simplicity; Facebook = Complexity? - Trying too much?
2009-06-29 09:02:00 By Siddarth Raman The last few months have seen quite a rise in the Facebook v/s Twitter battle. We recently showed you a few updates that facebook has incorporated to emulate the popular twitter platform - is facebook obsessed with twitter?. The story of Facebook’s failed attempts to buyout Twitter is well known and since then from vanity URLs to Fan following, Facebook seems to be doing everything it can to one-up Twitter including a possible real-time search. Comparisons aside based on popularity, Facebook might possibly never replace the growing trend that is Twitter. Our take on the reason - Simplicity. Let’s face it - there’s one problem with Facebook - there’s just way too many things you can do. From apps ranging from quizzes to games to groups and photo sharing options, somewhere along the line - there’s too much stuff happening. Twitter is a simplistic model based on JUST one thing - status updates, that too in 140 characters. There’s...

2009-05-03 21:45:00 Every once in a while this topic pops up, and since the nServiceBus code base doesn’t follow the apparently accepted practice, and I do get asked about it, here goes. First of all, the conventional wisdom: “If you don’t choose assembly to represent component, the natural artifact candidate is then namespace.” There’s only one minor assumption here that ...
Visiting Reagan?s RanchSeeing His Greatness in Its Simplicity
2009-04-28 02:55:00 I just returned from an afternoon at a place that many readers of the site, including (and especially?) its two principle bloggers consider practically sacred. With Dr. Nigel Ashford, the distinguished British political scientist honored by Dame Margaret Thatcher, I had a tour of the Reagan Ranch. Kudos to the folks of the Young America’s Foundation ...

The Simplicity of a Greeting Card

Are You Talking to Me!?! How Podcasting?s Simplicity Can Change How We Lea
2008-10-07 13:00:00 Podcasting, in layman's terms, is an audio (and sometimes video) file that is stored on the Internet and that can be downloaded to an MP3 player, or listened to using a computer. Let's face it. These days, it's hard to find many kids without wires coming out of their ears. And it's not a Son
Maison&Objet Autumn 2008: the Trend is SIMPLICITY
2008-09-09 09:22:00 LOOKING AHEAD TO 2009? WITH SIMPLICITY - a brief about the trends that are expected to influence our lives - home furnishings, decoration, design in general and way of thinking - in the coming seasons, according to MAISON&OBJET Observatoire :Faced with a complex and uncertain world, untidy and cluttered, future scenarios focus on the essential. Land and local produce are becoming valued again. Urbanites, missing having roots, appreciate a new balance between the city and the countryside. Nature and technology are finally replacing people at the heart of the ecosystem. Making room for the elegance of humble and modest objects. Touch wood. That is a nice way to live in your home.Elizabeth Leriche considers that "The simple pleasures of rural life are reviving a belief in local produce and setting down roots. In a period of galloping urbanization, a rustic style is becoming deeply rooted. People are discovering the animal and organic beauty of the agricultural world. Objects with...

External Value Configuration with IoC
2008-06-13 18:32:00 One of the things I haven’t like about using IoC containers, AKA dependency injection frameworks, was the string-based configuration model they exposed. Smartphones: Simplicity vs. Functionality
2008-05-25 11:19:00 There is a lot to be said about the ease of use of smartphones. For instance, did you know that, according to a survey by Opinion Research Corporation, the single most returned gifts are non-blackberry, non-iPhone smartphones, due to the recipient's inability to figure out how to use all the features? Then again, people are always asking for more, not less. Where is the compromise?

Product Review - Goddess Smooth Simplicity Bra
2008-05-18 14:04:00 By Cassandra HaleyThe Goddess Smooth Simplicity Bra is one of the best-selling plus size bras of the Goddess brand. This underwired bra that goes up to an H cup has seamless molded cups and padded shoulder straps. Its low leotard back has 2 rows of hook and eye closure for some sizes, and 3 rows of hook and eye closure for larger band sizes. The Goddess Smooth Simplicity Bra is a full coverage bra, yet still offers a touch of femininity with its low center front with diamond keyhole design. The Upside: For women with larger cup sizes, they will love the support it gives their heavy breasts. The cushioned straps help eliminate painful grooves forming over their shoulders while distributing the weight of your breasts - you get support from the straps to the band. The combination of underwires and molded cups in this Goddess bra offers separation and shaping. If you're looking for a plus size bra that gives ample coverage to your girls, this product with full coverage cups is the one f...
Simplicity is Beauty
2008-05-14 11:19:00 When I was doing a series of posts about my dream home, I don?t only blog about the physical designs of my dream house but also its interior fixtures. Just like my blog posts about pearl, I really desire simple beauty when it comes to the things I used and to the things that surrounds me.Having asthmatic children, I always prefer that my dream house would use blinds. Aside from its beauty, blinds are easy to clean from dusts. It will also save you from future expenses on additional cleaning materials. There are many kinds of blinds and these are of course produced in horizontal and vertical orientation. Since my dream home would have big windows, I prefer to have simple vertical blinds. And I saw one that I really love from Select Blinds. They have these white vertical blinds that would really look great in my living room. Well, there are also brown wooden blinds that would also match my kitchen theme. Actually they have plenty of designs to choose from and most of them come in styli...
The Sweet Simplicity of Happiness : Part Six
2008-05-14 10:29:00 Our garden was given a great surprise recently with the growth and flowering of this magnificent honeysuckle. Our brilliant neighbours planted this before we had even moved into the house and just look at how it has spread over to our side of the garden too! The colours and the syrupy fragrance are well known and LBH and I are both feeling rather grateful to have this welcome visitor. Last year was entirely focused on the inside of the house and this year we have been pottering in the garden at every spare opportunity. Boo rolls around getting to know the other feline neighbours, I add organic compost to the beds and LBH lifts bags of sand and heavy tiles. You can see who got the short end of the stick in this year’s project. And the honeysuckle? The honeysuckle just is and in so doing reminds us to ‘just be’ from time to time too. Simplicity at its Best: Sorekai Bolu Kodhel
2008-05-06 13:09:00 We are back from short yet wonderful vacation from India and already missing home! Here I am in my office, feeling sleepy and jetlagged and terribly homesick. Each and every minute of those 18 days were filled with excitement and fun and our ears are still buzzing. It feels strange to be here away from all buzz and excitement. The two big family weddings in two weeks of our vacation kept us on our toes all the time. Mehendi, shopping, facials, flower decorations, shopping for gifts, last minute purchases, travelling, houseful of guests, shopping (did I say shopping again?!), phone calls to friends? It was complete madness and we enjoyed each and every moment of it. It won?t be exaggeration if I had to say that we hardly got time to think about coming back (Will write about it more in my later posts). Surprisingly even the flights were on time and everything went smoothly. Can?t believe that we had been away for just few days and there is already change in weather. Thankfully the gloo...

Love – Play of Complexity and Simplicity
2008-04-17 11:09:00 Yesterday when I was at Phillip’s place, he was in a very jovial mood. It was one of those days when he’s not in a mood to teach us the guitar. He was reminiscing about the good old days when love did not have so many profanities attached to it. He was talking how scandals, flings, affairs and everything in between are being passed off as ‘love’. He is not averse to the idea of falling in love, rather he is all for it. He just wants people to be more honest about their feelings.I was thinking about what he said on my way back to the apartment. The apartment was empty. Andrea, my roommate, must have gone out with her boyfriend. That reminded me of Phillip’s words again. Are they really in love or are they just checking out their compatibility quotient? It is a very critical question to answer honestly. Sometimes we do not know what we are feeling. The play of the sub-conscious strata of the mind is very peculiar. You may be friends with a person and not realize how much you...
