2008-12-26 09:41:00 Teach me your way, O LORD, and I will walk in your truth; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.- Ps. 86:11 NIVOf a person [Burke] who differed from him in politicks, he said, "In private life he is a very honest gentleman; but I will not allow him to be so in public life. People may be honest, though they are doing wrong; that is between their Maker and them. But we, who are suffering by their pernicious conduct, are to destroy them. We are sure that ------ [Burke] acts from interest. We know what his genuine principles were. They who allow their passions to confound the distinctions between right and wrong, are criminal. They may be convinced; but they have not come honestly by their conviction."- Boswell: Life of JohnsonMy uncle used to tell me, 'Dave, the most important thing in life is sincerity. Once you can fake that, you got it made.'- David Lee RothBut oh. sincerity, sincerity, if I knew what sincerity meaneth!-S Rutherford, Letter 281, p 526This above all...

What are we afraid of? Honesty? Sadness? Sincerity?
2008-05-14 01:39:00 Tuesday evening - I didn’t have much time today at lunch, too many errands and such, but found a parking space along Third ave which allowed me to dash this off before the rain started. I think I am learning to just relax and let the scene speak to me in the little ways, so ...

Hey, Jenny: Some of us actually DO put sincerity above rhetoric
2008-03-14 00:00:00 We always see our opposition using the "marriage is all about children" strategy, so that they can play on people's fears that gay marriage would somehow destroy kids' lives. But this little blip from Focus on the Family's Citizenlink (the...

Genuine Sincerity
2008-02-04 20:42:00 I have this fear of being seen as a mommy first, as if being one makes me the least interesting person you've met on earth. One can sense my eagerness to answer the question, "How's your baby?". You see, when I was single and I'd get to "chat" with acquaintances who will immediately rave about their child's milestones, chances are I'll be flashing a smile while listening half-heartedly while my mind wonders about something.. err.. more interesting.Exactly, I'm guilty.Kaya nga sometimes I wonder when I'm ask about Dani, if she really wanted to know or is she just striking a conversation. I also know this mommy, who when asked about her child, would instantly talk about him non-stop. And I admire her for it pero it would be nice to talk to her about something other than her child hehe Pero I understand her naman because who doesn't love to talk about their child, diba? We're always ever proud mommies. But I sure am glad, I have this blog or Dani's blog for that matter....
Malcolm X: The Future Belongs to Those Who?
2008-01-13 20:33:00 A word famous American Muslim named Malcolm X once said, “The future belongs to those who prepare for it.” This statement, which is often misquoted, is a practical wisdom that points to a very profound and fundamental element of religion, our existence. In one way or another we are all concerned with our future and its outcome. ...

Re: Shucks, and Teenage Sincerity
2007-12-23 06:56:00 Re: Shucks.Iron Pugilist said... Goodness, I hope you're not falling for that.Short answer? No, I'm not.Long answer? I'm not entirely, but... Why can't I? Every so often, a person comes across someone they like a great deal, someone they want to spend time with, someone they miss. Even teenage boys are capable of feeling something genuine, something a little bit more than lust, surely? I'm not saying that's definitely what he feels like, it likely isn't, but I'm not going to be 100% cynical and dismiss the possibility. The Lad called me the moment I got home from my trip Singapore and Malaysia (I will write about that, I think). In fact he called me on my mobile while I was still in the taxi from the airport. He wanted to see me that day, and he wanted me to come to a "gathering" he was having that evening. OK, wanting me to go to a "gathering" could well be dodgy. It could be a set up. Yeah, maybe he wanted to get in my pants or something equally typical of a teenage boy. Bu...
Mainstream Media: News Sells More Opinion, at Cost of Sincerity
2007-11-13 21:48:00 chicagotribune.com: Corporate giant General Electric leans politically to the left. Or so you might believe by watching its cable news channel, MSNBC. It has even flirted with hiring Rosie O’Donnell, whose politics reach beyond the left-wing and straight into the bizarre. If this is the news media consolidation and corporate ownership that a lot of earnest ...

The Nominees of Paradise
2007-10-25 22:25:00 As Believers mature we realize that there are degrees of understanding on the way; on our return to our Lord. We gradually come to know that there are indeed tests placed in our way which we can either pass or fail however the test results are often cryptic or misleading when interpreted by our selves; ...

CD Review: Amber Pacific, Truth in Sincerity
2007-10-23 16:11:00 The haunting, thunderstorm-implying intro to Amber Pacific’s new album, entitled “Rule #76,” is supposedly a harbinger of the album to come, and though it blends well into the quick-paced drumming of “Summer (In B),” it’s a bit of an overstatement. Not that the album is disappointing or poorly produced, it’s just not as groundbreaking or epic as ...
Message from Afghanistan?s Taliban : Sincerity or Lip Service ?
2007-10-17 18:51:00 The mullah’s call to prayer broke Kabul’s eerie silence. It was my first morning in Afghanistan and I squinted to see the time on my watch, it was 4:30. My body shivered under the sleeping bag shrugging off March’s chill. Like most Kabul neighborhoods, the electricity was cut off during the night and the generator ...
Edwards Questions Clinton's Sincerity
2007-10-15 19:05:00 Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards has spent two weeks questioning Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's judgment in voting to declare the Iranian Revolutionary Guard a terrorist organization. On Sunday, he questioned her sincerity. Last month, Clinton was one of 75 senators who voted for a resolution giving the president the authority to call the guards terrorists. She has characterized the vote as a way to gain leverage for U.S. negotiations with Iran, but some of her rivals, including Edwards and Sen. Barack Obama, argue it amounted to giving Bush another blank check to go to war. At several stops Sunday, Edwards referred to a New York Times column in which unidentified Clinton supporters say she voted for the resolution in part because she already has shifted from "primary mode," when she must appeal to liberals, to "general election" mode, when she must find broader support. "I may have missed something ? and you can tell me ? have we already had the New Hampshire primar...
When Sarcasm Turns Into Sincerity
2007-10-03 09:22:00 Before I start writing a single word of a script or embarking on a new project, I always give it a title, and I'm always thoroughly pleased with the titles I come up with. Big Hunk o' Burnin' Love, Jukebox Stories, Emophiliacs?they're catchy, they're resonant, and they ooze with meaning. So it's a special occasion when I forgo an original title and instead name a script after a song. This has happened twice. All Men Are Liars is one of my first plays, which won me my first playwriting award ever, and Drive-Thru Man is a screenplay I wrote a few years ago. Both titles were taken from Nick Lowe songs. That's what I wanted to tell Nick tonight after his exquisite performance at Safari Sam's in Hollywood, but the bouncer, who was unsympathetic to fandom, wouldn't let me backstage. Instead, I had to bask in the afterglow of a truly splendid evening.Nick Lowe is a badass. At 58, he tore though a 21-song acoustic set that spanned his 30-year career; he eschewed a guitar pick in fav...

Sincerity; honesty and wearing a mask
2007-07-04 15:54:00 When we talking about sincerity, most of the time is inside out. Meaning that we treat people with sincerity. Be sincere with other. But then again, genuine sincerity and honesty can only be achieved through self sincerity and honesty. I never cheated anybody in my live and don’t intend to start now, but I was far from ...
How to gauge one's sincerity on stem cells.
2007-06-08 01:31:00 People sometimes get upset when good things happen. This story on the transformation of rat's tails into stem cells may provide a win-win solution to the current controversy. People who care about the unborn would be happy that the unborn wouldn't have to be killed to further science. And people anxious for future cures would be satisfied that their goals can be met. Now, if people are less than enthusiastic about this discovery, then their main goal would have been to upset their enemy and not the advancement of medicine. Thanks to my friend Juan for the story. You want what? You can't have it!

Enough False Sincerity (Lies)...Just Say What You Mean
2007-05-19 06:28:00 I admit it. I did not know much about Christopher Hitchens. I had seen a number of references to him on atheist blogs, but they usually lament his confrontational style. I just shrugged and never really thought about him again. I wish I had, because PZ Meyers of Pharyngula recently posted a couple of YouTube videos where Hitchens unabashedly shared his thoughts on Falwell. The first clip is what he said on CNN regarding Falwell's legacy:I applaud Hitchens for being honest. I certainly agree with him that we should not revere evil men just because they've died. Does their mere death suddenly make their terrible acts in life worthwhile? I say nay.The better clip is when Faux News invited Hitchens to defend his statement on Hannity and Colmes:This clip actually made me burst out laughing. It's nice to see someone refusing to take the usual Faux News bullshit. I love how Hitchens runs roughshod over Hannity's (or Colmes'? I don't know. I don't watch that worthless net...
