With IPEVO SOLO.1, Make Skype Calls to Anywhere Without a Computer.
2007-10-06 05:22:00 After writing about RTX DualPhone 3081, a phone to make VoIP calls(including Skype) without a computer, I learned that that there is another phone that could make skype calls to anywhere without a computer. It is a phone by IPEVO.IPEVO has made a few other VoIP phones. Free.1, Free.2, Trio and Xing and all these were USB phones and were to be used with a computer attached! Now the company has released SOLO, which is pictured above and as the name suggests, operates stand alone as long as there is a Internet connection. According to the company, Setting up is as easy as plugging in the network cable, log in to your Skype account, and just pick up to make a call!.Yes it is a desktop phone. But given the track record of the company, I think we will see a SOLO.2 or SOLO WiFi, a wireless SOLO soon! I have a feeling there is Linux somewhere and I really would like to get my hand on one soon. In any case it is aThe Phone features are very impressive and again accordin...
News from Skype. SkypeIn, virus, 4 years
2007-09-13 10:50:00 Quite a lot happened in the recent days for Skype.1st of all, Skype became 4 years. As a user from the first public available version I am of course happy about this. With fun I remember the amazed reactions caused by the outstanding voice quality, eventhough at the beginning it still was only half-duplex, so you couldn't speak while the other party does the same.Villu Arak wrote a a blog entry about this quoting the encouraging words of Skype's CEO Niklas Zennstroem. Also, Mexico and Ireland got SkypeIn now! :)And one problem I experienced too (not as somebody being infected but as somebody receiving such messages!) is the virus that spread over Skype messages. Skype updates about this case in the same entry too and is now "ctively engaging with domain owners to shut down malicious websites that are being used to spread the virus."Technorati Tags: Skype, SkypeIn, birthday, Ireland, Mexico, virus----Wanna discuss this post?
