2009-09-01 17:05:00 Variety is reporting that as part of a major branding overhaul, the once proud Peacock network will unveil a new slogan on September 14 which will include the tagline “More Colorful.” Now if you’re anything like this TV Addict — odds are fairly good that upon picking yourself up off the floor due to an unexpected bout of the giggles — you’re thinking one of three things: (a) Seriously? (b) Again, WTF?! Or (c) The jokes practically write themselves. The Arizona License Plate Commission allows nonprofit groups to highlight their cause on license plates, but the commission in 2002 and 2003 denied the Arizona Life Coalition permission for a specialty plate with the "Choose Life" slogan. The Arizona Life Coalition alleged that the denial violated their First Amendment rights to free speech and a three-judge panel of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals agreed. "Nowhere does the statute create objective criteria for limiting 'controversial' material, and nowhere does the statute prohibit speech related to abortion," Judge Richard Tallman wrote. "The commission ignored its statutory mandate and acted unreasonably in violation of the First Amendment to the United States Constitution."

New Slogan but still no strategy
2007-09-14 17:46:00 The only Iraq strategy we saw this week was an attempt to avoid losing even more support for Bush's failed occupation. The congressional testimony of Petraeus and Crocker and Geroge W. Bush's speech to the base turned out to be nothing but more spin and deception directed at the diminishing base so that Bush can buy time and pass his latest mess onto the next administration. The paper of record, the New York Times, which is partly responsible for selling the ill conceived invasion and occupation of Iraq has an excellent analysis today.No Exit, No Strategy This was the week in which Americans hoped they would get straight talk and clear thinking on Iraq.
