I don’t necessarily remember the basic tenets of the book, but it ranged from such claims as the benign (the Disney company doesn’t treat its employees very well) to the absurd (the Disney company is actually a cult). How preposterous! How ridiculous! The Disney Company isn’t evil! It’s not as if, sometime in the 90’s, the Disney Company actually went and built a town in Florida, complete with its own zip code! Oh wait. Never mind. Big deal. So a few people are such fanatics of All Things Disney that they actually move to a town designed by the Disney Company. Good riddance, I say. As far as I’m concerned, people who are such fanatics of any one idea or company or person should have every right to move to a town of like-minded people. Besides, it’s not as if any of the current presidential candidates’ supporters are such fanatics that they’re actually designing in town in Texas...

Disney’s “It’s A Small World” Co-creator Joyce Carl
2008-01-05 21:54:00 A lot of people won't know who Joyce Carlson is, but her work was seen by millions every year that visited Disney's, "It's A Small World." Carlson was one of those who worked on the original miniature prototype of "It's a Small World" for the 1964 World's Fair in New York. She was also one of those that worked on it being brought to the ensuing locations in Paris, Hong Kong, California, Florida and Tokyo. She started with Disney as a deliverer of brushes and paints to the animators, to eventually becoming one herself. She had worked for Disney for 56 years. Carlson died from a long battle with cancer. She was 84. She is survived by a sister and several nephews and nieces.It's a Small World

I get a call from a woman saying one of my former tenants from hell is using me as a reference (proof the guy was really pickled from all the alcohol he drinks!). When I called her back, turns out she knows me from years ago (she recognized the address of the rental property); we used to ride our horses together! So we had a happy reunion via the phone and she decided NOT to rent to my former tenant (she was slightly tipped off when he said he didn't have his checkbook, couldn't come up with a deposit immediately, etc etc). At least, that's the rumor that Disney won't confirm. The ride opened in 1964 (when overweight people were virtually unheard of) but lately the boats have been getting stuck and even scraping the bottom of the canals because they can't support the growing weight of portly parents and their kids. I say, weight restrictions!!! This is pathetic when a nation can't control its appetite so badly it forces a Disneyland ride to be upgraded! I'm surprised that people still visit this attraction; it's soooo outdated. 2007-10-30 14:26:00 In the original Anaheim Disneyland it may be a Small World after all, but Americans are getting bigger and heavier almost by the day, so much so that some of the rides may have to be re-engineered. This has already been scheduled for the Small World ride, which will be closed for almost a year beginning in January for retooling. The Small World ride now must accommodate adults who frequently weigh north of 200 pounds, which it often cannot do. Increasingly, overweighted boats get to certain points in the ride and bottom out, becoming stuck in the flume.
