2008-02-06 17:20:00 Came across this post on digg of a youtube video featuring The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain performing a cover version of Nirvana's Smells Like Teen Spirit http://digg.com/music/Smells_Li-ke_Teen_Spirit_performed_by_uku-lele_orchestra. Curiousity got the better of me as I'm sure for some Nirvana & Music Fans this would have Kurt Cobain turning in his grave. After internet searches I came across alot more cover versions of the songs - to a varying degree of quality. The Jury is still out for me regarding The Ukulele Orchestra. What do you think??? Nirvana really kicked my ass and it is a pitty that Kurt's life ended as it did. He was a fabulous artist and a modest man. Sure he was addicted which caused lots of troubles, but I gotta say he was my idol on those days. Just because he was so grunge.Then there is another great artist I like, Tori Amos. Wie der ein oder andere Leser schon mitbekommen hat, Covere ich ja selbst mit meiner Band Songs und weiß, dass es nicht leicht ist, einen in die Zuhörerrinde eingebrannten Radiohit und Klassiker, so zu reproduzieren, dass das Publikum damit zufrieden ist und dies auch noch live vor Publikum. Denn dass schaffen oftmals nicht einmal die Originalinterpreten. Das Phänomen der absoluten Selbstüberzeugung nun, ist ja schon von DSDS bekannt. Die folgende Interpretin nun, ist durch und durch in ihrer Rolle der Rock- & Crunchinterpretin drin. Und fragt nicht wie... Der Gitarrist, hat leichte Probleme mit seinem Setup, was umso deutlicher hervortritt, dass kein Bassist ihn unterstützt. Das Publikum, man muß es respektvoll adestieren, ist ein äußerst Liebes. 2007-02-09 04:02:00 It’s Thursday. The day after hump day. And it smells like teen spirit where I’m sitting. Today at school we had a pep rally. Why? To show the community and everyone in the school that this town isn’t only about football, but who are we kidding? It wasn’t the best pep rally, but it wasn’t the worst either. Hell it had funny moments. The teachers versus the students in a fuckin dance off. Have you seen teachers doing the motorcycle? What about teachers tryin’ their hardest to “walk it out†or even do a little chicken noodle soup. Well neither have I, unfortunately. The dance off was just the teachers and students doing the cha cha slide. Who came up with that. And then for the inter-grade competition they had members from each grade limboing. Guess who won. Nobody. Another failure. But at least they tried. SO maybe we do have some kind of teen spirit.
