That warrant was executed yesterday morning. The Majors will appear before a Florida judge on Monday morning, according to Daniel O'Connor, the political, economic and public affairs chief at the United State Embassy in Nassau. It’s Springtime and Agents see surge in human smuggling
2008-03-30 23:58:00
Though springtime typically sees a spike in illegal border crossings, activity has been heavier than usual in Laredo, immigration officials said. In the past two months, agents have thwarted several attempts to smuggle people in large tractor-trailers, charging 41 people — American truck drivers and others — with smuggling. They detained 376 undocumented immigrants from Mexico and Central America, each of whom paid $500 to $3,000 for the trip. The discoveries were made by Border Patrol agents working at inland checkpoint stations, such as the one on Interstate 35 north of Laredo. The agents turned the American truck drivers over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, which works with the U.S. attorney’s office to prosecute them.

2008-03-26 23:43:00
They are believed to have smuggled hundreds of illegal immigrants into the United States but now, 41 truck drivers, guides, brokers, recruiters and smuggling leaders are facing criminal charges. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) special agents started the investigation in Laredo but made the arrests across several American cities over the last seven weeks. Investigators said the group used truck drivers to smuggle at least 376 illegal immigrants from Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras into the United States. Most of the immigrants were discovered tractor trailers and attempting to pass through different checkpoints in and around Laredo. Most of the discoveries were made during routine inspections after they noticed suspicious activity coming from inside the trailers or they were alerted by on-site canines on duty. Each immigrant allegedly paid $500 to $3,000 depending on their destination. All 41 of the accused human smugglers have already appeared before a...
Indians ‘involved’ in missile technology smuggling
2008-03-19 18:43:00
Dawn -- An employee of the Indian Embassy in Washington and Indian government agencies conspired with an Indian businessman to obtain secret weapons technology from US companies, the US Justice Department said. The technology they tried to smuggle to India included microprocessors and electronic components used in the development of ballistic missiles, space launch vehicles and fighter jets. The businessman, Parthasarathy Sudarshan, entered a guilty plea in a federal court in Washington, admitting that he was part of the arms conspiracy. The plea suggests that the Indian government violated a ‘pledge’ made in 2004 that it would not try to bypass US export-control laws and regulations imposed after India tested a nuclear weapon in 1998.Documents by the Justice Department showed that Mr Sudarshan worked closely with an Indian Embassy employee identified only as “co-conspirator A”.

Man Deported 14 Times Arrested Again for Human Smuggling
2008-02-20 03:41:00
The guy was caught driving a Chevy Venture with 13 people in it: A man who already has been caught and deported 14 times has been picked up in Colorado again on charges of human smuggling. Eagle County authorities arrested Israel Robles-Gaytan during a traffic stop on Interstate 70 in Eagle County Monday morning. Deputies said they found him driving a Chevrolet Venture van with 13 people who didn’t have proper immigration papers. The traffic stop was initiated because the vehicle’s license plates were obstructed, according to the deputies. What good is deporting these criminals if we are just going to keep the door wide open for them to come back in, and bring as many people as they can fit into a Chevy Venture? Secure the border first. The fact that this guy has been deported 14 times is a testament to how porous the border actually is. ShareThis

Ellen Pompeo Promises She?s Not Smuggling Any Food into the Country

Ellen Pompeo found herself stuck at the Los Angeles International Airport in quite a quandry when she was told by TSA officials that with with two passports in her possession, she didn't have valid identification. However, after some coaxing, it looks as if she and her husband, Chris Ivery, were able to continue to their destination.
