As per club policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. The Broncos also on Friday waived guard Isaac Snell.Gandy (6-foot-3, 302 pounds) is a fourth-year player who spent his first three professional seasons with Indianapolis. Selected by the Colts in the fourth round (129th overall) of the 2005 NFL Draft from Texas Tech University, Gandy has played 42 career games with 14 starts in the regular season. The 26-year-old also has appeared in six career playoff games (1 start), including the Colts’ victory in Super Bowl XLI during the 2006 season. In 2007, Gandy saw time in 10 games for Indianapolis and recorded one start at right guard. He appeared in all 16 regular-season games, starting a career-high 11 contests at left guard, for the Colts’ Super Bowl XLI-champion team in 2006 that allowed an NFL-low 15 sacks and averaged an AFC-best 379.4 yards per game.He played 16 game...

Snell Clinical Anatomy by Regions 8th Edition
2008-03-27 10:58:00
Each patient that you examine in your clinic with medical problems is composed of gross anatomic structures, which may or may not exhibit functional deficits. All students must therefore enter medicine with a basic knowledge of anatomy that is clinically relevant. The explosion in the knowledge of medical disease and the technological advances associated with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases have dictated a complete restructuring of the curriculum for medical students, dental students, allied health students, and nursing students. In the United States, students in many schools are now being offered programs in gross anatomy in which only part of the body is dissected, and this is supplemented by the use of prosected specimens, plastinated specimens, and computer imagery. To assist in the necessary curriculum changes, in the eighth edition, great efforts have been made to weed out unnecessary material and streamline the text. The following changes have been introduced:All the li...
Snell, motivated by opening-day start, helps Pirates beat Twins 7-3 (AP)
2008-03-26 00:37:00
Starting the Pittsburgh Pirates’ opener might mean a little more to a 26th-round draft choice like Ian Snell than it does for some pitchers who were picked higher or projected to be stars from the start of their careers. Snell, making his last start before pitching the Pirates’ opener Monday in Atlanta, gave up two ...

Ian Snell agreed to a 3 year contract extension with the Pittsburgh Pirates. The contract is worth at least $8 million.  “I’m really happy about this because this is where I want to be, with the Pittsburgh Pirates,” Snell said. “This is the organization that gave me a chance to play professional baseball and I want ...
Snell and Pirates agree to 3-year contract worth at least $8 million (AP)
2008-03-17 00:49:00
Ian Snell and the Pittsburgh Pirates agreed Sunday to three-year contract worth at least $8 million, a deal reached five days after the Pirates had unilaterally renewed the pitcher for 2008. Snell would have been eligible for salary arbitration after next season. The agreement includes team options for 2011 and 2012. Read the full story.
Snell And Pirates Agree To Three-Year Deal
2008-03-16 20:13:00
SUNDAY, 7:13pm: Paul Meyer of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette clears things up.  It is a guaranteed contract of $8MM for three years, with a $600K signing bonus.  The two option years are worth at least $16MM, not including "standard incentive clauses."  That's a great deal for the Bucs, wouldn't you say? SUNDAY, 6:23pm: The three-year deal is worth at least $8MM, according to a CBSSports.com wire report. SUNDAY, 4:22pm: It has just been announced on MLB.com that the Pirates have signed starting pitcher Ian Snell to a three-year guaranteed contract, with club options for 2011 and 2012.  Salary amounts have not yet been released, though Tim has surveyed the range of possible contract amounts here and here. This season is Snell's last before becoming arbitration eligible.  As Tim pointed out earlier, $13-14MM is the the going rate for a talented young pitcher's arbitration eligible years. Pirates fans have to be encouraged by this announcement, as Senior VP an...
Pirates | Snell and team agree on five-year deal
2008-03-16 15:52:00
Updating previous items, MLB.com's Jenifer Langosch reports the Pittsburgh Pirates reached an agreement with SP Ian Snell on a five-year deal Sunday, March 16. Financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal includes three guaranteed years, along with club options for 2011 and '12.
Pirates Make Offer To Snell
2008-03-10 11:05:00
Dejan Kovacevic noted on Saturday that the Pirates have made a formal long-term offer to righty Ian Snell.  As I wrote last Wednesday, the going rate for three arb years of a good young starter is $13-14MM.  Kovacevic believes it was a four-year offer, probably tacking on the '08 season for less than a million bucks before covering Snell's arb years. Though the going rate is pretty well established, there is definitely still room for negotiation.  Look at the differences between the three comparable deals: Jamie Shields (signed January '08) - extra money for pre-arb years, third arb year a club option, club options to buy out two possible free agency years.  Also includes performance bonuses.  Shields took a little more cash upfront for possibly a lot less down the road.  The most team-friendly deal. Chris Young (signed April '07) - third arb year guaranteed, club option for one free agency year.  The middle ground deal between Shields and Cain...
Pirates | Team interested in signing Snell long term
2008-03-05 15:26:00
Dejan Kovacevic, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, reports the Pittsburgh Pirates have contacted the agent for SP Ian Snell to discuss his interest in a long-term contract, according to sources. A formal contract could be made in the next few days.
Pirates | Snell pitches three innings Wednesday

Pirates Talking Long-Term With Snell, LaRoche
2008-03-05 09:53:00
According to Dejan Kovacevic of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the Pirates have reached out to Ian Snell's agent about a long-term deal.  Snell's salary will increase drastically in 2009 as he reaches arbitration.  For that reason, I've wondered whether he might be next offseason's available young ace.  Jamie Shields' deal could serve as a guide if the Bucs just want to buy out Snell's three arb years from 2009-11.  Shields gave up his arb years for $13.75MM, though the last of those involves a club option.  $13-14MM (not necessarily guaranteed) seems to be the going rate for a young pitcher's arb years, looking at Shields, Chris Young, and Matt Cain. Additionally, the Bucs are talking to first baseman Adam LaRoche about an extension.  LaRoche is set to reach free agency after the '09 season.  I was surprised to see that LaRoche's career numbers aren't much different from Justin Morneau's (granted Morneau has played in the tougher league a...
Trade Winds - Snell and Nady
2008-01-25 21:14:00
Mariner Snell? The Seattle Post Intelligencer is reporting Seattle Mariners GM Bill Bavasi has made another "final" offer to the Pittsburgh Pirates regarding Ian Snell.  Bavasi has also made "final" offers to Minnesota for Santana and Baltimore for Bedard.  He is quoted as saying, "I don't think the offers will be beaten. Either they come here, or (those teams) will keep their players." Bavasi was also quoted as saying, "We're talking about a real rare animal. For us, the most important thing is a top-of-the-rotation starting pitcher. Not a No. 2 or No. 3 or No. 4. But there is a limit to what we will move." There is no mention in the article who may have been offered. BTW Take: This is likely the best offer the Pirates will receive for Snell.  If nothing else, Snell should feel honored to be mentioned in the same breath as Santana.  If multiple top prospects are part of the deal, Huntington should seriously consider saying yes.  This could explain the ras...

Odds and Ends: Inge, Snell, Jones
2008-01-14 02:02:00
Some early Monday odds and ends to get things rolling... D-Town Baseball takes a closer look at the idea of Brandon Inge catching this year, something Dave Dombrowski would recommend to him. According to Marc Topkin, the Rays have increased payroll more than they promised (from $24MM in '07 past $40MM this year.) Speaking of '08 payrolls, the Detroit Free Press projects the Tigers at nearly $134MM. We've got a good discussion at RotoAuthority going regarding my Top 76 Fantasy Baseball Outfielders. The Pirates rejected Ian Snell's idea of a contract extension.  He's under team control for four more seasons, so they're in no hurry. Some quotes from Adam Jones regarding being pulled from winter league ball.
FB Johnson Released; G Snell Resigned
2007-11-28 07:06:00
The Denver Broncos announced today that FB Kyle Johnson was released a mere 5 days after he was resigned by the club.  OG Isaac Snell was resigned.  The two are on a roster carousel now that is reminiscent of the Chad Mustard/Adam Meadows/Stephen Alexander situation earlier in the season.
Broncos Re-Sign Snell, Cut Johnson
2007-11-28 00:20:00
Remember the Chad Mustard/Stephen Alexander revolving door from earlier in the year?  Well, it's back, with two new contestants..... The Denver Broncos on Tuesday signed guard Isaac Snell and waived fullback Kyle Johnson, Head Coach Mike Shanahan announced. Snell (6-foot-6, 288 pounds) is a second-year player who rejoins the Broncos for his second stint with the club after he was waived on Thursday. Snell signed with Denver from Tennessee's practice squad on Oct. 10 and was inactive for all five games during his time on the Broncos' roster. A North Dakota State University product, Snell entered the NFL with the New York Jets as a college free agent on April 29, 2005. After seeing time on the Jets' practice squad and active roster as a rookie, he was allocated to NFL Europa and played for the Frankfurt Galaxy in the spring of 2006. He joined the Titans' practice squad on Nov. 1, 2006, and concluded the year with that group. At NDSU, Snell played 37 career games and totaled ...
Talking Ian Snell
2007-11-24 06:53:00
"Pittsburgh's Ian Snell. Teams that have talked to the Pirates say they're in the midst of a monstrous internal debate about whether they'd be willing to at least dangle Snell, a major 26-year-old talent who had more quality starts this year (22) than Santana or Roy Oswalt and a better strikeout rate (7.66 per 9 innings) than Carlos Zambrano or Ben Sheets." -- Jason Stark, ESPN, Nov 21When I first read Stark's comment earlier this week I wasn't surprised to see the Pirates front office was without a cohesive rebuilding plan or, if they did have one and dealing Snell wasn't a part of the rebuilding process, then they were obviously lacking leadership. Over the last six days I've received a few anonymous emails on Snell and one of them was stuffed with pitch and statistical data that would blow the average fan out of the water. For instance.. Between 2005 and 2007, there were 170 MLB pitching performances where at least 15 starts were made in one year and the pitcher...
Ian Snell 2008 Projection
2007-10-28 05:59:00
In late September of 2006, I spoke of Ian Snell's good fortune in racking up wins but bad luck on hits allowed and home runs.  I mentioned that his skills were more indicative of a 3.85 ERA and 1.35 WHIP.  As a 25 year-old this year, Snell had that breakout I was looking for - 3.76 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, 177 Ks.  Good stuff.  What should we expect in '08? This remains a tough one to call because the Bucs typically post a poor team BABIP.  If they continue to play poor defense next year, Snell might allow more than a hit per inning again.  Let's cross our fingers and hope for a .300 BABIP, which would mean 8.9 H/9. I have Snell at 7.8 K/9, 2.8 BB/9, 8.9 H/9, and 1.0 HR/9.  That solid work would put him at a 3.72 ERA and 1.30 WHIP with 182 Ks if he makes 33 starts for 210 innings.   The Pirates being the Pirates, he might be lucky to win 12 games with that fine work.  That'd make him a $10 pitcher in a 12 team mixed 5x5 keeper league with...
Rockies Pursuing Ian Snell?
2007-10-27 20:41:00
I hate to tap from the same well twice in a row, but I felt the rumor at the bottom of Jake from Bucco Blog's post deserved it's own mention.  Jake writes,"Lastly, are the Rockies going to go after Ian Snell? One NL exec thinks so.. and hard. I was surprised when I heard this one knowing the Rockies have a pretty solid core of young pitchers in their farm, but if Dave Holliday does come to work as player development or scouting director, well..."A lot of teams come off World Series trips with a truckload of veterans and the need to rebuild.  The Rockies are not one of those teams.  In fact, with the added confidence of a pennant (and World Series?), I wouldn't be surprised if these now-seasoned youngsters kept competitive with the Diamondbacks up-and-coming talent over the next few years; however, they will need more starting pitching to do so ('07 starters had a 4.58 team ERA), especially if the Diamondbacks are focusing on upgrading a rotation consisti...
Broncos Sign Alexander, Snell To Active Roster
2007-10-11 02:00:00
The Denver Broncos on Wednesday signed free-agent guard P.J. Alexander and added guard Isaac Snell to their active roster from Tennessee's practice squad, Head Coach Mike Shanahan announced. As per club policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed. Alexander (6-foot-4, 297 pounds) is a fifth-year player who joins the Broncos for his second stint with the club, having been on Denver's roster from 2003-05. He most recently played for Atlanta in 2006 and competed in the club's 2007 training camp before he was released on Sept. 1. A Syracuse University product, Alexander entered the NFL as a college free agent with New Orleans on April 26, 2002, and was with the Saints from 2002-03. He has played nine career regular-season games (4 starts) and also appeared in Denver's AFC Wild Card Game during the 2004 season. After the Broncos waived him on Aug. 29, 2006, Alexander joined the Falcons as a free agent on Oct. 18 of that year. He started all four games played with Atlanta, marking t...
Snell denied bid for 10th win
2007-09-26 07:41:00
So I'm sitting at Dolphin Stadium watching the 'loveable losers' fall a part at the seams and on my portable I'm tuned into the Pirates MLB.tv broadcast. It's just amazing what you can do at the ballpark anymore. After the Cubs lost, I headed back to the hotel knowing the Pirates had a comfortable 5-1 lead and, by the time I finally get my portable back on line, I'm just in time to see Stephen Drew tie the game in the 8th with a single off John Grabow. I couldn't believe the bullpen had robbed Ian Snell yet again. The Diamondbacks brought out "Mr. Hold" Brandon Lyon who gave up a one out double to Adam LaRoche, got Ronny Paulino to fly out, and then promptly fell apart by balking LaRoche to third. Phelps completed Lyons misery by punching a seeing eye grounder through the left side to score LaRoche and the Bucs regained the lead. Ten pitches and two strikeouts later, Matt Capps took home his 18th save in front of a full house of Pirate ownership, a new CEO and gene...

Peter Snell, Legendary Runner #6
2007-08-09 21:55:00
Next on my list is the runner that strode in to the running scene with a powerfully built body, decked in the famous black singlet with the silver fern emblazoned on the chest. He was remarkably similar to Herb Elliott in many ways which will be pointed out shortly. His name was Peter Snell and he hailed from New Zealand.Snell, like Elliott, was a remarkable athlete who participated in many sports including Rugby, Cricket, Tennis, Badminton and Golf. Snell at the age of 19 would meet the man that would coach him throughout his career, Arthur Lydiard. As told by Snell, Lydiard told the young runner, "Peter, with the sort of speed you've got, if you do endurance training, you could be one of our best middle-distance runners." Motivated by the sage coach as Elliott was with Cerutty, Snell turned his complete attention to running.During the 1960 Olympics, Elliott dominated his race in the 1500 while Snell had to scrape and claw past world record holder, Roger Moens in the 800 to s...

Snell Instills Respect Despite Sweep
2007-07-29 23:16:00
* Jake tips hat to Ian Snell * Man, I expected Snell to get hammered worse than Youman, but it never came. I waited patiently inning, after inning, after inning. Nothing. Oh, a stiff wind that knocked down some of the deep fly balls helped, but overall Snell pitched a pretty good game against a white hot lineup. Considering the Phillies scored their only run on a passed ball by Paulino through the first two innings, I was actually getting excited into the third until Snell walked Ryan Howard after Iguchi had singled. Rollins then crushed a sharp ground ball almost right over the third base bag and into the left field corner to score Iguchi and Howard had to hold at third. When Snell stranded Howard, I started thinking maybe we had a chance if we could figure out rookie Kendrick, but it really never came. McLouth went yard on a line drive in the 6th, Castillo led off with a double in the 7th and was ultimately stranded at third, and Nady led off the 9th with a double and was strande...
Latest From Baseball Prospectus: Jacque, Snell
2007-07-23 18:17:00
Will Carroll and John Perrotto have teamed up at BP to join the rumor mill, and yesterday's post is free to nonsubscribers.  Some highlights: Carroll reports that the Cubs could swap Jacque Jones and a prospect for Jeff Conine.  Perhaps such a move would be in tandem with Adam Dunn leaving Cincinnati.  The Cubs might want to hold on to Jones though; he's playing well lately. Carroll heard a far out Alex Rodriguez to the Dodgers rumor, but doesn't buy it.  Neither do I - the Yankees don't seem to be selling.  Carroll says Brian Cashman and Co. will wait until the last second to make a buyer/seller decision.  There's a slight chance Jorge Posada becomes available if they choose the latter. Perrotto confirms a rumor that surfaced a week ago, that Ian Snell could be had for the right bat.  Perrotto would know, as he spent time as a Pirates' beat writer.  Jarrod Saltalamacchia or Matt Kemp are two possible targets for the Bucs. The Tigers may...
Snell Dominates Rangers in First Complete Game
2007-06-14 05:10:00
Pirate fans saw a masterful Ian Snell on the mound Wednesday night who tossed his first career complete game scattering seven hits, walking two, and striking out seven. Ranger fans saw Sam Holbrook giving Snell what must have seemed to them as a 22" plate and possibly thinking back to late August when the Rangers and Angels had a bench clearing fracas on the field and Holbrook was behind the plate. Through much of Wednesday night's game the Rangers dugout was all over Holbrook. To be sure, the Rangers had their chances but everything they hit was right at someone, albeit most were crushed, and "Lucky Snell" walked away with the win in the end. The only run to score off Snell was an unearned run. In the 6th inning Catalanotto hit a little grounder back up the middle that Sanchez pulled up on allowing him a single, Young hit another grounder up the middle for a single to put men at 1st and 2cd with no outs, Byrd hit a routine double play grounder to Castillo but Sanch...

Snell Wins 5th Touching 97
2007-06-03 04:38:00
No glaring holes in our defensive play, only one questionable base running play, and a solid outing by Ian Snell allowed the Bucs to walk away with a win Saturday night. Snell broke down as expected at the 81 pitch mark in the 7th inning when he allowed back-to-back line drives into left putting Ethier and Abreu at second and third with one out. He then struckout Betemit and Juan Pierre came to the plate. Throwing several 97 heaters in the at bat, Snell then bounced a tight slider and Pierre swung wildly missing it and stranding both runners. Great stuff, and a sign of maturity even though it was Betemit and Pierre. The hapless Pirates offense managed three runs after they hit three singles and LaRoche was issued a bases loaded walk in the first scoring two, and Nady went yard off right-hand reliever Tomko in the 6th. But it was the second night in a row the Pirates hit back-to-back doubles and failed to score a run. The one base runner blunder came in the first when Sanchez was a...

The book contains 130 photographs from the gorge and is the first coffee table book dedicated to the area.John will be in the Cincinnati area to sign copies of his book and to meet with folks on Saturday, May 19 at the Barnes and Noble in Newport on the Levee from 6-8PM. Photographers will want to note that the book contains a five-page section that tells the best "gorge" places for photographing waterfalls, wildflowers, rock formations, sunrises and sunsets.John has a lot of great work on his website and is an excellent photographer. I suspect that his book will be of similar high quality. For starters, check out his first (of three) Red River Gorge gallery. If you have any questions or comments, please contact John directly. Langerhans for Snelling
2007-05-03 18:23:00
Just under a week ago Ryan Langerhans was traded from Atlanta to Oakland for cash considerations. Langerhans is mired in a horrible slump and while Atlanta was looking to make room on their roster, Oakland hoped a change of scenery would help Langerhans regain his home run swing. But with the injuries compiling, including Mike Piazza going on the DL with a shoulder injury and Langerhans still hit less, GM Billy Beane pulled the trigger on another trade very quickly. Langerhans was traded to Washington for Chris Snelling. Oakland is desperately trying to remain in contention despite the major injuries to multiple star players, if they fall out look for Harden/Haren rumors to start once again. The trade came on the heels on another Rosenthal article title National Crisis. The A's, completing their third trade in six days as they deal with a new set of injuries, have acquired outfielder Chris Snelling from the Nationals for outfielder Ryan Langerhans.A's general manager Billy Beane, af...
Snelle taart

(english readers, please scroll down)Dit is echt een hele snelle taart.

Snellville Georgia New City Ordinance Kicks Gangs to the curb
2007-04-12 00:01:00
Snellville has hung out the "No Vacancy" sign for gangbangers. By passing the street gang terrorism and prevention ordinance Monday night, the City Council also served notice that suspected gang members will find it very difficult to keep a rental roof over their heads within the city limits. Landlords can streamline evictions in cases where three or more suspected gang members are living together, using a civil court process that can take a few weeks or even days, as opposed to four to six months under the existing criminal court process. Police Chief Roy Whitehead, who pushed for the ordinance, said Tuesday it is a preventive measure, as opposed to a reaction to an existing widespread problem. "We want to prevent it [gang-related activity] from coming here," Whitehead said. Whitehead said his effort to get the ordinance passed was partly as the result of one recent case, where four brothers suspected of being gang members were arrested and then evicted. They are still sus...
Snell Powers His Way Past Astros
2007-04-04 05:45:00
Ian Snell dominated the Houston Astros Tuesday night striking out a career high 11 batters and allowing just four hits over six innings while giving up two runs. Throwing consistently in the low to mid-90's, Snell kept the Astros batters back on their heels all night with an impressive low 80's mph tight slider while mixing his two-seam and four-seam fastballs. Astros starter Jason Jennings, who came into the game with a career 0-3 record and a 10.47 ERA against the Pirates, was nearly as dominant as Snell, throwing 6 innings, striking out 7, and allowing just one run, an Xavier Nady home run in the second. A managerial decision by Jim Tracy almost cost the Pirates the game in the 7th. Rewind to August 10th, 2006. The Pirates were losing 2-1 in the 7th inning playing in Houston and, after Torres gave up a double to Craig Biggio, Jim Tracy ordered an intentional walk to Lance Berkman. Two batters later, Morgan Ensberg went yard on a Matt Capps slider that didn't, and the Astros we...
Snell: Tosses five scoreless innings
2007-03-20 05:08:00
Ian Snell was sharp, tossing five scoreless innings for the Pirates on Monday. Snell allowed four hits, struck out five and walked two. He hasn't allowed a run in his last three appearances, spanning 11 innings. "The biggest difference for me this spring is I'm mixing up my pitches more and trying to mess with guys' heads a little more," Snell said. "Last year, I felt I relied on my fastball a little too much. I've changed things up a little bit and have kind of a new look." Snell is slated to be Pittsburgh's No. 2 starter behind Zach Duke. The 25-year-old right-hander was 14-11 last year with a 4.74 ERA and 1.46 WHIP. In 32 games started, he threw 186 innings and racked up 169 K's.Source: AP
Snell Overpowers Phillies, Pirates Win
2007-03-20 02:18:00
Box Score [link] -- Recap [link] -- Audio [link - subscription required]MLB's box score, play-by-play data, and game notes [link] -- Two weeks ago, Ian Snell faced the Phillies and allowed three hits and three runs over three innings of work. He hasn't allowed a run in 11 innings of work since. Today Snell dominated the Phillies lineup throwing five shutout innings and racking up five K's for the day, including Chase Utley and Jimmy Rollins twice each. Other than two ground ball hits through the infield, Snell allowed just three balls in play to reach the outfield, and none after the second inning. The Pirates scored quickly on a shaky Adam Eaton after Jack Wilson doubled in the first and white hot Ronny Paulino, 16 for his last 23, singled Wilson home. In the third inning the Bucs added another run when Wilson singled and then Paulino doubled him home. Eaton, who is attempting to make the Phillies rotation after missing much of 2006 from surgery on his right index finger, allow...
Ian Snell K's Seven
2007-03-07 10:46:01
Pirates starter Ian Snell struck out seven in Tuesday's spring game against the Phillies, but allowed three runs, three hits and two walks in three innings. Snell is a solid, hard-throwing young pitcher, but the sub-.500 Pirates make him more of a low-end Fantast starter. Snell has the potential to go over 200 innings and 180 strikeouts this season, though, so consider him if he's falling into the latter rounds. Source: CBS SportsLine.com
Riverbed ontdekt manier om ssl-verbindingen te versnellen
2007-03-06 13:10:03
