Snow Day August 2008
2008-08-13 00:08:00 That would be right. The highway between my place and the city is closed this morning because it's covered in snow at Mount Nelson. I could have had the day off work (well at least worked from home via the magic of the Internet) but instead I'm tucked up in bed with a chest infection feeling like garbage. I know us guys like to sook and moan whenever we get a little bit of a sniffle, but this time I really am crook. My chest really hurts. The doc has given me some magic pills so I'm sure I'll be OK soon and the Olympics are on the telly so it's not all bad. Speaking of bad, have you had a look at the little share graph over on the left hand side? It's not broken, and we haven't had a sudden increase in gravity, my shares really have dropped that low. That sort of thing used to really stress me out, but now I'm not so worried. I'm holding shares in way more companies than I should be, but they are nearly all resource sector start up's with gr...

The Condo does everything else. It was so nice. I even got to take a nap this afternoon!John went home yesterday before the snow started. While I'm all for the recent nice weather, I get a bit homesick for a good snowy day. It's been a few years now since we had a good Georgia winter storm. Every few years, we'll get socked, and it's kind of fun -- it's a change, at least, and much better when it happens once every few years rather than twice a winter.The last major one I can think of was January of 2005, when we got nailed by a major ice storm. Solid ice on my (then-brand-new) car, streets and sidewalks impossible to navigate. When the sleet started coming down, I escaped next door to Atkins Park for a bit, to get a last fortification before I was house-bound.I ended up next to a hunched, put-upon fellow, who soon started telling the bar at large that he had been sent out to buy firewood. Fun on a Snow Day
2007-12-01 20:36:00 Today it is snowing. And not just a little bit. It is dumping. It’s gorgeous as you can see. I was going to go to the USDAA agility trial (I am not entered) and work with Chase and socialize Tatum, but I don’t want to make that 20 mile drive in this kind of snow. Hopefully we can go tomorrow. No flyball for a while, now, since there is too much snow on the ground. We won’t be seeing any wedding flowers for a while. The smooth collies have all been out playing in the snow, Tatum most of all. She has been soaking wet all day. I don’t think she ever saw snow in Texas (do they have snow in Texas?) and she was outside playing with anyone who would stay with her. Chase and Tony, mainly, though not at the same time. It was very cute to see her so wet! We also did some training this morning with the collies and the border collie, and things are going so well! Lucy has found her calling. 2007-01-28 05:01:00 Well today was a lot of fun ~ we went to a carnival today with big bumpy jumpy & sliding rides AND a snow field! Yay!It's funny because where we live, it doesn't snow ~ too hot~ and my children have been talking about snow and how they wish it would snow..what they would do in the snow..how much fun they'd have, etc.. So, I look in the paper and there it is..Snow Day! The carnival people hired a snow making company to make a snow field ~ letting about 100 or so kids & their parents on the field for a set amount of time to play in the snow. It was 65 degrees and my family was playing in the snow ..great fun!So, what did we learn today? We learned how snow can be man-made, we learned that family time is precious, we learned that when my ds doesn't win the prize he wants..that his sister will win it and give it to him just to make him feel better, we learned how to take our shoes off and put them on at LEAST 50 times and, most importantly, we learned how to make a snowball : )

The other two times when the snow was bad enough to shut down the schools, my brother and sister on Spring Break.
