Sunday Scribbling: Soar/Sore
2008-05-17 09:18:00 When I saw the prompt for this week's Sunday Scribbling, an idea came popping into my head as to what I can scribble about. Then I thought I shouldn't. It's something I am dealing with... and probably should not post about until it's truly resolved in my heart... And so maybe a poem would suffice....SORE SPOTI was wounded, bruised and hurtNot many knows how deepNot many knows ...I thought healing would come quicklyIt wasn't that badso it seemsAnd yet even though the woundhave slightly healedand there are no more tearsThe soreness remainsAnd I know whyI know exactly whyIt's because the enemy saw my vulnerabilityThe devil saw my weak spotAnd just when I thoughtthe wound have healedthe enemy pokes and hitsSomeday this wound will healA scar might be left behindBut it will hurt no moreBut until thenI would have to bearAnd the enemyI have to fightThe enemywho throws fiery arrows in my headand makes me think of thoughts that are not mineand makes me feel emotionsthat should have be...

NYC Foreclosure Rates Soar 34%, And Manhattan Not Immune
2008-05-01 01:23:00 METRO FORECLOSE RATE SOARS 34% by NY Post - snips:The number of New Yorkers losing their homes to foreclosure jumped by a third compared with a year ago, a study has found - and experts are warning that the worst is yet to come... Analysts once predicted that New York's real-estate market would be largely insulated from the wave of home-loan defaults affecting much of the country. But lawmakers and local organizations are now working overtime to keep up with the volume of requests for help from homeowners in crisis. New York's foreclosure process is unusually long, taking more than a year for defaulting homeowners to lose their homes, so experts say the data probably does not reflect the level of foreclosures that will hit the area. "We are still waiting for the other shoe to drop," said RealtyTrac spokesman Daren Blomquist about the foreclosure rate in the city... In Brooklyn, one in every 241 homeowners is now in the foreclosure process. That is more than double the number of...

2008-04-19 22:58:00 Google shares soar 20 percent to record 1-day gain By MICHAEL LIEDTKE, AP Business Writer Fri Apr 18, 5:40 PM ET SAN FRANCISCO - Google Inc.'s stock soared 20 percent Friday, restoring $28 billion in shareholder wealth as Wall Street renewed its love affair with the Internet search leader after weeks of worry about an online advertising slowdown.Driven by stellar first-quarter results that surprised industry analysts, Google shares surged $89.87 to finish at $539.41. It marked the biggest one-day gain since Google's initial public stock offering in August 2004, leaving the shares at their highest closing price since January. Google had lost favor with investors as Web surfing data and the faltering U.S. economy raised concerns that people aren't clicking as frequently on the Internet advertising links that generate most of the Mountain View-based company's revenue. The trend threatened to chip away at Google's earnings because the company typically gets paid...

Western Bay of Plenty Police District Area Commander, Mike Clement, attributed the dramatic rise to better policing.
