Gambling for charity in churches would become legal here in South Carolina, my home state, under a bill that has been approved by the State Senate. I say fine and dandy myself, they been playing bingo games to raise money for ages and I don't really see much of a difference. This new legislation would let churches and other nonprofit groups host card games along with other casino games to raise money. The bill will exempt them from South Carolina's 200-year-old law that prohibits dice and card games. Churches here have always preached against gambling, but I'll wager to say that they will be holding weekly games if the Governor passes this bill.
