Early Afternoon Visit to Applegate Lake in Southern Oregon
2007-07-11 00:26:00 SeeTheGlobe.com Travel Article :: On the first full day of our visit to Oregon we decided to take a suggestion from our innkeepers and visit Applegate Lake. They praised its beauty and surroundings and that was enough to convince us to start out day's tour there. From Jacksonville, where we were staying, highway 238 provided a direct route. We were only to remember to take a left turn onto Upper Applegate Road in Ruch. Once in Ruch we stopped at a well equipped supermarket and bought some hydrating drinks. We also stopped at the local tourist office following its signs. It was closed, perhaps because it was Sunday and Memorial day weekend at that. Actually, it seemed like it had not been open in a while. The police station in the same small mobile home was closed as well. Lunch and the Jacksonville Inn Restaurant in Jacksonville, Southern Oregon
2007-06-22 01:18:00 SeeTheGlobe.com Travel Article :: We arrived to Medford, Oregon in the early afternoon on the Saturday of our visit. Our accommodations were not ready at that time so we proceeded to explore the small town of Jacksonville. We were quite surprised by the large homes and estates we encountered around town. The main street, named California Street, had its usual combination of restaurants, ice cream and souvenirs shops. It was all compact and allowed us to walk from one end of the city center to the other in mere minutes. Jacksonville has a look of an old Western town, though refurbished. Several buildings were newer, we learned, and were erected for movie shoots. Regardless of that, it all fit together to create a charming community. The restaurant at the Jacksonville Inn was recommended in every single guide book we had so we stopped there for lunch.Rate and Review : Lunch and the Jacksonville Inn Restaurant in Jacksonville, Southern Oregon

Bybee's Historic Inn Bed and Breakfast, Jacksonville, Southern Oregon
2007-06-15 20:26:00 SeeTheGlobe.com Travel Article :: Jacksonville, in Southern Oregon was our base during our explorations of this region. We were to visit Ashland, Medford, Crater Lake National Park and anything else that would capture our imagination. Bybee's Historic Inn Bed and Breakfast appeared as a good choice during our initial research so we booked three nights here. The price was just under one hundred fifty dollars for the Elizabethan Room and we even got a discount when booking several nights in a row. The flight from Los Angeles to Medford was quite pleasant. It was a propeller plane flying a bit lower than larger aircraft and we enjoyed guessing which part of California we are flying over at the moment. Once in Medford, we were surprised by the ninety degree temperature outside. It was much hotter than in LA. We picked up our rental and were on our way to Jacksonville.Rate and Review : Bybee's Historic Inn Bed and Breakfast, Jacksonville, Southern Oregon
