2007-08-09 15:42:00 Cllr Seamus Ryan, Michael O'Riordan, Jack Jones and Moe Fishmanat the unveiling of the memorial to the Waterford Volunteers who fought in defence of the Spanish Republic.I learned with great sadness today of the death of Spanish Civil War veteran Moe Fishman. Moe was one of those brave men and women who fought in defence of the Spanish Republic in the ranks of the International Brigade. I met Moe Fishman when he came to Waterford for the unveiling of the memorial to the eleven Waterford volunteers who went to Spain to fight against the Fascists. Also present on that memorable occasion in July 2004 were Spanish Civil War veterans Michael O'Riordan and Jack Jones. I believe that La Pasionaria, Dolores Ibarurri was referring to men like Moe Fishman when she said "You are history. You are legend."
