NEW! - Nimrod Rising - Politically Speaking! - NEW!

Click to go to blogcatalog.comReturn To Main MenuNimrod Rising and the Green God of America:When you enter a bank in the United States, have you noticed the quiet and serenity in the space? There seems to be a reverence rivaling that found in most churches. It is easy to see that such a display of piety in the unassuming financial institutions across America is because they are practicing the country’s fastest, biggest and most powerful religion, the worship of the Almighty Dollar. It can be truly stated that God is now green in America. I wrote Nimrod Rising because of this devotion to this pious paper and pristine plastic that has plunged this nation and the world into the abyss of despair for the lives of the unborn, the infirm and the aged. The World of Manassa Dormin:Nimrod Rising transports the reader into a world of mayhem where unborn children do not contribute to a thriving economy, so their demise is of no avail. The world of Manassa Dormin, the villain in Nimrod Rising i...

IT IS TIME TO BEGIN SPEAKING: The Church and Domestic Violence
2008-06-25 10:21:00
Kimberly B. George of Faith and Gender wrote a paper about domestic violence. I have to say a major KUDOS to her and her voice and gift for writing this peice! The number of American soldiers killed in Iraq almost equals the number of women who have been killed on American soil by husbands and boyfriends over the same span of time. Since 2003, just over 4000 American soldiers have been killed in the war. Approximately 6000 women have been killed on the homeland (1).Like the soldiers killed in battle, these deaths have left children without parents, fathers without daughters, brothers without sisters. Children witnessing domestic violence are suffering posttraumatic stress disorders. Many of the boys who witness the violence of their fathers will themselves grow up to physically, emotionally, or verbally abuse their partners. I long for Christian communities to pay more attention. YIKES I didn't even realize that! MORE people have been killed by domestic violence than in the war so...

Jott for Blackberry - The Secret To Speaking Your Emails
2008-06-08 21:02:00
In March I started using Jott for Blackberry beta, in hopes that I could save time by replying to email with my voice via my Blackberry. To my surprise this voice to email application was remarkable and accurate. Although as I’ve been talking with real estate agents I’m learning that many have not heard of this useful technology. That’s unfortunate because as a busy real estate agent you are probably sending many emails while out of the office and maybe even while you are on the road. Needless to say, emailing while driving can be dangerous.  If that email needs to be sent immediately, using Jott for Blackberry you can simply attach your Bluetooth headset and speak your email while keeping both hands on the steering wheel. (We are not endorsing emailing while driving…simply sharing the technology. ) How do I get started? To start, Jott for Blackberry supports series 8800, 8300 (Curve), and 8100 (Pearl) models. If you are using one of these devices, simply v...

Good or bad influence? Ability v credibility in public speaking
2008-06-06 20:28:00
The London Book FairAn event which was going on at the same time that I was speaking in Hereford and Kent was the annual London Book Fair. I attended this trade show in 2004 with the intention of joining a screenwriting workshop but actually spent the day attending a number of other events and presentations. I think I may have gained more in the long term and the freebies, such as books, helped to offset some of the expense of travelling there!Public Speaking Tip #207: Trade fairs/shows/exhibitions can be a very good opportunity to hear a wide variety of speakers.I went to a fun quiz called Have I Got Publishing News For You?, based on the popular UK topical comedy show but featuring a panel of (apparently) big names from the book world and with an audience which included the Children's Laureate Dame Jacqueline Wilson. I can't claim to have understood too many of the in-jokes but the event was very slickly chaired by a PR man from the publishing world.I also observed a very energe...
Money Talks, But Why Isn't It Speaking For The Libertarians?
2008-06-02 18:08:00
I bring this up because while Barr might've been excused for donating to Larry Craig's campaign prior to his arrest, there can be little justification for his defense of Craig once his proclivities became public knowledge -other than being an ass blanket for the GOP Hypocritical Pervert Brigade. It only makes sense that those people you deem worthy of donations would also be deemed worthy of supporting- I can't think of a single, solitary person who donates their hard-earned money to politicians that have diametrically opposing views. read more

speaking of airlines…
2008-05-30 16:47:00
Um, what’s the deal with tsa locks anyway? Our luggage came with them but they seem kind of strange to me. I guess I don’t really understand the concept. Are they locks that keep the airline employees and other strangers out but allow the TSA in? Does that mean that all TSA agents have something like a skeleton key and they can open them? Well, I’ve worked for a few government agencies in my day, and I think it’s pretty safe to assume that not just the TSA can open those locks. Hang on, I’m going to look this up on wiki just to see if I’m on the right track. Even better, this is from the TSA website: TSA screens every passenger’s baggage before it is placed on an airplane. While our technology allows us to electronically screen bags, there are times when we need to physically inspect a piece of luggage. TSA has worked with several companies to develop locks that can be opened by security officers using universal “master” keys so ...

Frank Lee Speaking
2008-05-28 16:35:00
FRANK LEE - MAY 28, 2008 Today I lost another friend. I don't even know how he died. Some said it was a disease. Whatever it was, it was too sudden. On May 12, 2008, Frank Lee added me as friend on Facebook. A couple of months before that, I bumped into him when I was out shopping. We chatted briefly - and I chirpily made one of those empty promises which now, I would never ever be able to fulfil. I said we should catch up for tea one of these days.I really like Frank. He's your Mr Nice Guy - patient, kind, softspoken and caring. He's a bit of a geek - but he's always very pleasant to hang out with.He was also my ex-colleague who had left the company barely a year ago. He is always smiling, always willing to help. He was such a bubbly and optimistic guy that we enjoyed teasing him. To us, he was "Frank Lee Speaking" (a pun on "frankly speaking"). Having worked with him for a while and interacted with him on a daily basis at work previously, his passing left me reeling with extrem...

This is your pilot Gordon Brown speaking.
2008-05-25 14:38:00
John Prescott came up with a strange analogy to defend Gordon Brown's sullen demeanour on the Andrew Marr show this morning: "When you get on an aeroplane, do you go and look in the cockpit to see if the pilot is smiling".Imagine the situation:Hullo, this is the pilot speaking. We have been informed that our arrival in New York has been delayed. This nothing to do with us, this kind of delay is happening around the world and I'm afraid it's out of my hands. Now, normally this is the point where I would say that there's no need for concern.... but, you see, ah - now how shall I put this? You know that we normally carry enough fuel in reserve for occasions like this? Well erm, we haven't today. Not my fault, you see - we've run out of money. Those fancy new seats you're sitting on cost an absolute fortune and I'm still paying for them. Yes I know they are uncomfortable and the recline function doesn't work, but hey, you've got to admit they look good - at least you'll die i...

I only publish your comments when you say something stupid or you distort the truth. Sadly, you do this quite often. But rather than just saying that you got hate mail from people, you try to blame "the right wingers and right wing blogs" out on the internet. Quite the broad brush you're painting with eh Keith? For the record, I think you're a truth distorting idiot with no real things to bitch about if your Messiah Obama is elected. Speaking Of Great Horse Tips...........
2008-05-19 15:26:00
I thought I'd share a few of my own, well, those that I've learned from others and from experience...............1) I scrub my water troughs with plain bleach and rinse well. When I refill, I pour a 1/2 cup to one cup of bleach into the water. It makes it only slightly chlorinated and retards the growth of algae and the horses drink it.2) Now I know to use Walmart generic Metamucil (unflavored) instead of the expensive Sandclear to help prevent colick. Two tablespoons mixed with grain and a little corn oil twice a week.3) Corn Oil, another good thing. Great for disguising powdery substances in grain, such as meds or Metamucil. Also great for horses that tend to spill grain as it helps to glue it together. I've done this with Misty until I can get her an appointment to have her teeth floated.4) I keep a halter and lead rope handy in the feed shed close to where the horses are kept, just in case we have an escapee and need to capture them quickly, also nothing like a scoop of grain...

Essential Presentation Skills for Public Speaking
2008-05-14 16:39:00
The following post is from Six Minutes- A Public Speaking and Presentations Skills Blog- Andrew Dlugan - Research a topic - Good speakers stick to what they know. Great speakers research what they need to convey their message. - Focus - Help your audience grasp your message by focusing on your message. Stories, humour, or other “sidebars” should connect to the core idea. Anything that doesn’t needs to be edited out. - Organize ideas logically - A well-organized presentation can be absorbed with minimal mental strain. Bridging is key. - Employ quotations, facts, and statistics - Don’t include these for the sake of including them, but do use them appropriately to complement your ideas. - Master metaphors - Metaphors enhance the understandability of the message in a way that direct language often can not. - Tell a story - Everyone loves a story. Points wrapped up in a story are more memorable, too! - Start strong and close stronger - The body of your presentation should be stro...

Mother Day generally speaking
2008-05-11 06:02:00
Well, we decided that to beat the crowds we would actually go out for dinner on Saturday evening rather than Sunday. Ok, so we actually did both. Everything in general seemed to be planned pretty well.Zuppa's in Yonker's is one of my favorite restaurants, I find the food innovative but really flavorful. In general a little pricey, but have always loved the restaurant and the warm earth tones and rustic set-up. The menu is not huge but has probably a very innovative selection of items that they aptly label as progressive Italian. Now, Zuppa's on mother's unfortunately is a slightly different story. Interestingly, enough last year when I was raving about Zuppa to a colleague, he appeared unimpressed stating he took his wife over for mother's day, he was less than impressed with the experience, mentioning how noisy and chaotic the place of was, so I thought - Hello! Mom's Day is like only the busiest restaurant day of the year!Well! Well! Well!, this year Anshul did something smar...

Speaking of being a Broker
2008-05-09 16:02:00
Brokering information is a great way to get into the online money business. Many people want information but can't spend the time looking in all the nooks and crannies of the internet. Sometimes they are willing to pay you to find them leads, like at Innersell. Here, if you know someone who has a need for a Service or Product that you don't provide, you can enter them into Innersell as a lead. Choose the companies who will contact the client and if they close the deal you get paid! If you don't know any companies, sign up for a free account at TradeKey. This way you can troll the waters of international trade, and maybe start your own import/export business.
And Speaking Of Segues?
2008-05-08 03:38:00
I received a comment on yesterday?s post that I just could not ignore. I couldn?t ignore it for two reasons, actually. First, it mentioned creating a holiday and second, Blogger emails me whenever I get comments, so getting comments is pretty unavoidable, not that I?m complaining. I truly believe that man (or even woman) can live on comments alone. And speaking of living, my grass is finally turning green again after So Cal?s most recent heat wave. Yes, I realize that was a sub-par, non-booty kicking segue, but I?m just getting warmed up.And speaking of segues or whatever else I began talking about in that last paragraph hanging up there above this one, Eva left a comment in yesterday?s post (remember when I mentioned that before I starting segueing) about having a National Segue Day. I?m all in favor of that and will spend the remainder of this post writing segues in my hopes of getting everyone excited about a National Segue Day. How will this segue experiment go? I have n...

It is the basis of culture, as we all know; but it is infinitely more than that: it is the basis of business. No salesman can sell anything unless he can explain the merits of his goods in effective English (among our people), or can write an advertisement equally effective, or present his ideas, and the facts, in a letter. Indeed, the way we talk, and write letters, largely determines our success in life. Now it is well for us to face at once the counter-statement that the most ignorant and uncultivated men often succeed best in business, and that misspelled, ungrammatical advertisements have brought in millions of dollars. It is an acknowledged fact...
