Kizuna Satellite May 2008 Update
2008-05-14 05:17:00
I got a hit on my Google Alert today about the Kizuna. However, I'm having a hard time looking for the direct link to the Kizuna Satellite website (JAXA) so I'm posting a portion of the Yahoo! News here for you guys to follow. This should be as good a source as any. Japanese Internet Satellite Hits 1.2GbpsEngineers testing a recently launched Japanese data communications satellite have succeeded in establishing a two-way Internet link running at 1.2G bps (bits per second) each way, they said Monday. window.yzq_d==null)window.yzq_d-=new Object(); window.yzq_d['EAZ8CkWTWVE-']='&-U=13fr2495j%2fN%3dEAZ8CkWTWVE-%-2fC%3d655626.12551426.12972441.-2498248%2fD%3dLREC%2fB%3d534613-5%2fV%3d1'; The speed represents a record for satellite communications, according to the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency and the National Institute of Information and Communications Technology. Homepage Startup And The Entrecard Dilemma
2008-05-06 09:04:00
Homepage Startup is a nice little website that allows an internet user to display thumbnails of his favorite websites. Instead of clicking on your bookmark or having to memorize all the internet addresses that you like, all you have to do is assign a box/thumbnail for each of these websites. That way, should you need to go to a particular website all you have to do is click the appropriate boxes. This makes things really easy especially if you point your homepage to the HomepageStartup you created. The site is free and registering to the site is quick and easy.At first glance, there really is nothing extraordinary to this site. In fact it's pretty harmless. Sure it's cool and makes things easier but a lot of sites are cool and make things easier too.But you see, while most folks see a regular, helpful, efficiency enhancing website, my somewhat perverted mind sees something else. Are you seeing what I'm seeing? Because what I'm seeing is a beautiful farm.A beautiful Entre...
Commented On
2008-05-05 13:47:00
Commented On is a new application that you folks may be interested in. This is a bookmarking application that keeps track of all the sites where you have placed a comment. Oftentimes we just place a comment on a blog we may have just stumbled on and then forget all about that comment. This has been a nagging problem with me before, especially during my rampant bloghopping days. I'd just comment away and forget all about it as I move to another blog. Sometimes I feel really frustrated because some of those blogs that I've visited are really good and I would have really wanted to visit them again. So much so that I was contemplating of creating some sort of a mash-up that would allow me to store all my comments and the related sites where those comments were submitted. Thankfully, with Comment On, I didn't have to create one. Not that I would be able to create one anyway.I think the only thing here is if you have a lot of blogs and you use a lot of pen names or aliases. I h...
3 To 4 Then 3 Again And Then Back To 4
2008-04-30 07:06:00
**Latest UpdateAnd for some reason, my PR has now gone back up to PR4. lol. This is a rollercoaster ride I'm telling ya. :)**UpdateLooks like there's some pendulum-swinging going on. Earlier today I got excited over the PR bump I thought I got from Google. I checked the PRcheckers around and the bump was confirmed. After a few hours however, I landed back to earth. With a thud. Looks like Google is still fine tuning its update so I'm now back to my curvaceous PR3 although some site checkers still insist that I got the bump. Oh well better not get too excited. Weh.Forgive my immodesty dear visitor, but if you will kindly direct your attention to your google toolbar, the part where they show the page rank of this blog, you may notice that there are far more green there than you may have been accustomed to.That's right, google's at it again. The PR ranking system has been updated and I am, proudly and unabashedly, happy to say that my little PR 3 was given a little bump in the po...
My favorite whining special interest victims hit the news again
2008-04-30 01:58:00
Bullies use peanut butter to threaten kids with allergies Ok, ok. Let?s get the obvious stuff out of the way first. Kids get bullied and beaten up all the time, and maybe it?s more dangerous (it?s certainly more comical) to threaten a kid with a peanut butter sandwich. It?s also really dangerous to throw rocks at ...

Music Video Monday: I Will Possess Your Heart
2008-04-28 12:17:00
The absolute best thing I love in the world music-wise are live tracks of studio-released songs. The second-best thing I love would have to be really long studio-released songs. The above video represents the latter. It’s Death Cab For Cutie’s latest single “I Will Possess Your Heart” from their upcoming album Narrow Stairs. ...
Wesley Snipes Sentenced To Three Years For Tax Evasion
2008-04-26 01:11:00
3 years. That?s the number of years that Wesley Snipes will be sent to prison for not paying his taxes. This is another example that lends credibility to the truism that one cannot escape death and taxes, unless you live in the Philippines. If my memory serves me right, tax evasion was also Al Capone?s downfall. But the question really is-- why the heck am I talking about Wesley Snipes in this blog? The obvious reason (though I will never own up to it) is that this is going to be fodder for search engines in the next few days or weeks and I?ll be damned if I?m going to let this opportunity pass by without me getting a piece of the action. Let?s see if I do get my hands dirty on this one.My official pronouncement however as to why I am including Wesley Snipes? sorry fate in this space is to warn those folks who are earning a lot from blogging that if you are not careful, you may be sharing Wesley Snipes' fate. Whatever you earn from blogging will always be covered by your own country...

Big Thanks!
2008-04-24 05:04:00
No, I have not won yet, but if the internet were to crash for-- say 6 days-- then definitely I am going to win hands down. However I feel that I have already done enough and have troubled people enough into voting for me that I have to come down that voting mountain and focus on stuff that I hope people (bloggers and non-bloggers alike) would find useful. I know it must be frustrating to stumble on this blog and see the same self-promotion day-in and day-out (I can already hear the regulars thinking "tell me about it"). But not to worry, the poll fixation is over. This madness has got to stop sometime anyway. Win or lose, I am grateful that folks actually voted for my entry-- which in my book translates to a vote for me! Imagine that!So to all you who voted (those not mentioned here, please leave a note; an outbound link is the least I can do for the kindness you've shown):PanaderosDurano Lawayan aka Brad SpitCebloggerThanMenaceA big thanks to you guys!

The plastic beams are said to last three times longer than wooden beams?the newer “green” beams, which ...

Geek Proposes To Girlfriend Over Video Game
2008-04-16 21:20:00
Usually, men pop the question by hiding a ring in a bouquet of flowers, or by placing a message on the jumbo screen during a baseball game. For one New Jersey man, that just wasn’t enough. Bernie Peng knew his girlfriend, Tammy Li, loved to play the video game “Bejeweled,” so when he was ready ...

The government there found laser pointers to be so extremely dangerous that the use of the objects warranted the Aussies to call a special meeting in Canberra. State and federal officials gathered to discuss ...

Latest News On The Kizuna Satellite
2008-04-10 00:12:00
155MBps - that's the confirmed downstream speed of the Kizuna Satellite to super small earth stations (these are 45 cm diameter antennas that can be used in homes) according to the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). This speed is the fastest in the world. JAXA conducted their tests from March 28 - April 7, 2008. See full story here. This is awesome news for Asia Pacific countries that are plaqued by lousy Telcos who charge an arm and a leg for their crappy services. With this development, we are one step closer to being liberated from the third world curse of slow internet speed and crappy connections. Let us all hope that this is the start of something great.

2008-03-29 00:03:00
**Update!! Here's the link for the full result. In a few hours the 2007 Philippines Bar Exam Results will be out in the streets and a lot of folks? tears will flow. This is inevitable as only a handful of examiners are bound to be successful. But behind the background there?s another race that?s brewing (one that I?m more interested in), and that?s the race to be on top of Google?s search engine for this keyword. It is expected that thousands would flock to the internet to check whether their favorite uncle or son or neighbor passed the exam and those on top of the ranking will definitely get the lion?s share of this targeted traffic. And as you know traffic translates to lots of money.Local SEOs have been really busy the past few days positioning themselves to be on top of the heap. It would be really interesting who?d get the first place. The one leading the pack is philippineboardexamresults.blog-spot.com. Let?s see if he keeps that position when it matters the most-- which...
