Well this is a very big patch update to the game doing enormous number of bug fixing, gameplay improvements, resolving issues etc to make the Spore a fine game to play with. This Spore Patch 1.05 update applies to Cute and Creepy pack as well as Galactic Adventure expansion pack as well. Most significant to us gamers though is that (beyond the IBM sponsorship and cool '70s CGI) Will Wright cites it as inspiration for Spore. The Spore Creature Creator is out on June 17th, with a cut down demo also being made available for free via spore.com. The full game is due in Europe on 5th September and 7th in the US for Mac and PC.. Game of the year? I don't see why not.

2008-05-07 21:54:00 So Spore, which is one of the most anticipated games of the decade, and certainly one of the most technologically revolutionary, is going to have some of the most abysmally restrictive copy protection in the history of gaming.According to various news sites, it will require that you validate your copy online every 10 days, or it will cease to function until you can get online to check it.The flaw in this system is unbelievable. Broadband is prevalent, but not that prevalent. What about countries without wide broadband distribution? Does EA just write them off? Once you've activated once, why the need to do it again and again? If a copy is being warezed, after the first dozen or so attempted registrations EA can simply just shut down that ID. Is there any reality to the thought that people's copies will start off legit, but suddenly become warezed after 10 days? 2008-03-07 13:39:00 Spore Coming to iPhone EA's Travis Boatman certainly caught our attention this morning when he gave a brief demo of an apparently complete version of Spore running on an iPhone. Boatman's show and tell took place during Apple's presentation about the iPhone's SDK. Boatman said it took EA two days to get CocoaTouch running, after which they could "import the whole game." He then ran through a brief demonstration of Spore on the iPhone, including touchscreen editing. Apparently, the iPhone can run the entire game, cutscenes and all. Boatman also revealed that EA has other games in development for the iPhone. Boatman didn't specifically announce when Spore was coming to the iPhone, but we figure the official word can't be far behind. We have contacted EA for confirmation, but have yet to hear anything.
